There are a number of parts you're going to need in order to flat tow your 2018 Chevy Colorado, starting with compatible base plates, and for that the best option is from Roadmaster, the I recommend the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-523182-5.

For a tow bar I recommend going with the Roadmaster Falcon Tow Bar # RM-522 because of how easy the tow bar is to connect to the base plates as well as its long arms, which make it easier to maneuver when towing. It also has really convenient guides for safety chains, and for that you will need the Roadmaster Safety Chains # RM-645.

For wiring kit that will allow your '18 Colorado's lights to function while being towed you can use the Roadmaster 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. Since your truck needs to have its battery disconnected to flat tow I recommend using the Automatic Battery Disconnect with Switch # RM-766 with Charge Line # RM-156-25 to keep your battery charged.

A supplemental braking system is a requirement in most states and I highly recommend the SMI Stay-IN-Play # SM99251 for this. This is a proportional braking system which is a one-time install which you can leave in so you'll never have to deactivate or reactivate it.

Finally, it is likely you will need a high-low adapter such as # RM-076 to keep your tow bar level with your tow vehicle. The adapter you need is going to depend on some measurements you'll need to take. I have added a link to a help article on high-low adapters which explains the measurements you'll need, as well as a link to our page with our selection of adapters.

Adaptive Cruise Control is a feature on some vehicles that automatically maintains a safe distance between you and the vehicles in front of you by actually adjusting your speed. Typically you would know it if you have it - but there might also be a button near the cruise control settings in your truck that looks like two vehicles almost hitting each other with a star above them. If you're still unsure, contact a local Chevy dealer with your VIN and they should be able to tell you if your truck is equipped with it or not.
