For a 2010-2012 Dodge Ram 1500 you will be able to flat tow your vehicle behind a motorhome. To do so you will need baseplates, a tow bar, tow bar wiring, a supplemental braking system and some other small components. Here are my recommendations:
For base plates, I recommend the Roadmaster EZ kit # 52289-1. This is an easy install with some Loctite # LT37420 and will give you removable arms for a clean look when not in use. Then for your tow bar, I recommend using the Roadmaster Sterling All Terrain # RM-576 which will come with the safety cables integrated and a wiring extension with connector for your Ram. You may also be interested in the tow bar cover # RM-055-3 to protect your tow bar when it is stored on the back of your motorhome. I've attached some videos to assist with features and functions of these recommended products.
Then I recommend the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit # RM-152. This will give you the wiring and diodes to allow you to use your factory wiring for a really clean look while protecting your vehicle electronics. It is a really nice and clean look and you will simply connect this to the 6-way on the front of your vehicle and then be able to also run a charge wire from that 6-way to your battery using charge line kit # RM-156-25 to maintain your vehicle battery while towing.
For your supplemental braking system, I recommend the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # SM99251. This is a proportional braking system so it will apply the brakes in your truck at the same time and with the same intensity as you brake with your motorhome. This system is a favorite because it only requires adjustment at installation and then becomes a simple plug and play system. You will also use the Roadmaster # RM-88400 brake relay kit which is required to prevent the towed vehicle's brake signal from overriding the turn signal from the RV when applying the brakes during a turn.
The last thing you need is a high-low adapter and these are specific fits for your motorhome and truck, so you will need to do some measuring. I've attached an article to assist as well as linked the page to your options to help you easily find the correct fit for your needs.
