Recommended Baseplate and Wiring Harness for a 2026 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon

I have a 2026 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited that I plan on flat towing behind my 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 Dually. I currently have a Blue Ox tow bar and a Patriot 3 brake system for it. I do not have any of the wiring for the Jeep and would like to install a diode system. Can you build me a list of parts I need to buy to accomplish this. Such as a plug and play wiring kit and a dedicated cigarette lighter to power the Patriot 3 brake system. Thank you

I sure can Clark and congrats on the new Jeep! Since you already have a Blue Ox tow bar and their Patriot 3 Braking system item # BLU37TR, here are the rest of the parts you'll need to flat tow your 2026 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon:
Baseplate - Blue Ox Base Plate Kit item # BX1139
Wiring Harness - Roadmaster Smart Diode Kit- 7-Way to 6-Way Adapter Cord item # RM63MR or the Roadmaster Smart Diode Kit item # RM47ZR if you don't need the 7-way to 6-way cable. There's no plug and play wiring harness that functions correctly with the electrical system and lights on the 2026 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon.
Since you're using the Blue Ox Patriot item # BLU37TR, you'll also need the 12 Volt Outlet Kit item # RM-9332. This runs a power wire directly to your battery. It'll provide a 12v accessory plug/cigarette lighter to power your braking system.
Since the Blue Ox Patriot item # BLU37TR draws power directly from your Jeep's battery, I highly recommend you install the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit item # RM-156-25. This will allow your Silverado to provide a trickle charge to your Jeep's battery. It'll insure your braking system is always powered and you'll never arrive to your destination with a dead battery.

Be aware that every time on the jeep that you hit the brakes and the brake lights light up, it wakes up the computer runs a diagnostic and takes a lot to shut down. We found towing a jeep Rubicon over 15,000 miles behind their motorhome that the unit often had drained the battery. I finally went back to just a simple four-way plug-in with wires going and magnetic lights on the back. As far as the base plate goes, it takes him out two hours to install and you can cut the skid plate with a hacksaw blade in a jigsaw. On a sidenote, if you happen to be driving from Whitehorse to Dawson city, the roads are so bad that it actually broke my base plate on the jeep, but this is important. It was not the base plates fault when you take a jeep and you launch it off the pavement and it comes back down. It does some damage that’s how bad the roads were.
