@ LawrenceG The E-550 came in one of two frame widths. If your frame width is 34 inches then you will use the Curt # 14082 hitch, or if your frame width is 42 inches, then you will use the Curt # 14090 hitch. The wiring will depend on your trailer. If you have a small basic trailer you can use a flat 4-way connector. If your trailer has electric brakes you will need a 7-way round connector. Since your E-550 is probably longer than most RVs or box trucks your wiring kits will need some additional wire to extend connections. I would go with the Hopkins # HM40975-11998 connector that has a 4-way and 7-way connector. If you need something different just let me know.

Yes, the Curt #C11177 is the correct hitch for your 1997 BMW 318 ti. This fits all models of the 1997 3 series. It has a bolt-on installation and drilling will be required. No other modifications are necessary. I attached an installation video below…
