Why Does the Length of the Camper Matter When Using Brophy Camper Tie Downs to Install a Camper

Question:

Wouldnt the weight of the camper be more of a factor in whether these would hold, than the length? I have a camper with an over cap extension that makes it longer than 8 foot, but the bed part is only 8.

I spoke with my contact at Brophy and he said that its more about the location of the weight of the camper instead of just overall weight. He also stated that most likely the Camper Tie Down # TDSF would not be the component that would break, but the vehicle would see damage to the stake pockets.
