Simple, Secure, and Convenient
Installing these tie-downs is pretty darn simple. They'll just slide into the stake pockets on your truck and you'll drill in some bolts through the pockets and the top of the rail to secure them. They fit snugly and there's no guesswork about where they mount on the rail. Tucked into the stake pockets, they're conveniently out of your way if you want to use your bed for hauling something other than your camper.
Securing your Camper
To secure your camper to your truck, you'll also need a tie-down hardware package consisting of turnbuckles, S-hooks, and chains (TDHP - sold separately). This hardware attaches to the anchors on your camper to the tie-downs on your truck to keep your camper secure safely mounted. Once you tighten the turnbuckles to the correct level of tension (not too tight!), you'll be good to hit the road.

excellent service
thank you
Great price, fast shipping, nice easy website to buy from....
Seems like a good product. They were easy to install and sturdy. Worked well with my 1998 Ford 1/2 ton.
Product is very sturdy and easy to install. Fits 2005 Tundra.
A great website to make purchases from. They had a great price on what I was looking to buy, and they emailed me every step of the way until my package arrived at my door. I would highly recommend this company!
good time proven product, but we decided that using our gas guzzling v-10 was cost prohibitive so we opted for a diesel truck, and since its a 2010 we don't think these will work. Since we are going to need a tie down sys. anyway we were wondering if we could return these and get credit towards a different sys.
I've been looking for these for a long time! They are perfect and work great. The service from etrailer was much better than I expected, the tie downs arrived in ONE DAY, which was about four days before I thought I would have them!! You have everything for campers that anyone could want and the pricing is wonderful. I highly recomend your company to my campimg friends and will be ordering more. Thank You
I am a newbie to truck campers, we are thinking of selling our class c and found a pop-up slide in to see if TC's might fill our needs. I ordered these stake pocket tie-downs mainly due to their price being the lowest I found. I have to say I was a bit skeptical on their ability to hold down a camper. Customer service was very helpful and I received my order with lightning speed. I was impressed. The quality seemed great - very heavy steel and good quality work. I installed them with no trouble and today we made the 2 hour trip to pick up our new (to us) TC. The trip back went without incident, despite very high (60-70 mph) winds. I highly recommend this product.
I spoke with Brandon Mudd and told him what I had. A 21 Ram Classic 1500 standard box and I would be hauling a 1300lb bed length camper. He set me up with his recommendation. I was not disappointed. I will tell you though that if you are squeamish about drilling holes in your truck then you should look at something else. you may also need to cut or trim the plastic cover over the stake pockets. I did have to get a bit creative with the 2 front tab bolts as the stake pocket has an extended part that makes it difficult to get to the nut. I have not actually hauled my camper yet I will be doing that next week but if something is not what I would expect I will get back to you.
These appear to be well-made. I had a hard time drilling the holes, as the tubes that go in the stake pockets are rounded on the side that faces into the bed. The resulting slipped hole broke a couple of the sheet metal screws provided, luckily I had plenty of spares in my misc. hardware bins. The diagram shows both screws per bracket on the inside of the stake pocket. For my 1970 F250, I found it sturdier to do one on the inside, one on the side of each pocket, offset in height a little.
Most of the problems I had were my own fault, though, trying to do this by lamplight as it got darker outside.
I will point out for future users and to the team that writes the instructions: The instructions are very clear with a good diagram. Many of the other reviews say these twisted or bent on dirt roads, or bigger campers bent them, or they didn't fit the vehicle. There are very clear, concise guidelines about what not to use them on, including "Not for off-road use"
The only problem with the instructions was this: For the hex bolts that go from the top through the bed rail, it says to use an 11/32 bit. The bolts provided are only 5/16. 11/32 is bigger than the hole in the brackets for these bolts. A 5/16 bit worked just fine, and was more readily available at my local hardware store.
I will add pictures when we go to pick up our camper. For now, these seem more than adequate for the size, weight, and style of truck and camper we use.

They held up very well to move the camper a couple of times. Unfortunately, we had some trouble with the suspension on the truck, and had to sell the camper on, as it was too much weight. If I had a heavier-duty truck, Id keep using them or buy them again!
Kind of a disappointment. Instructions show washers on eight bolts that screw in the side and they only send four. Bolts for the top are so weak I broke the first one off and went and got grade 8. They are supposedly made for my truck (2006 Chevy 2500 short bed), but they are pretty much universal. sit sloppy in the stake pockets, bottom foot should have been larger and on the other side to fit better. I fabbed plates for inside the bed to add support. For the price I expected better. They are usable, but would probably not do it again.
I looked up camper tie downs for my truck and these were recommended to fit and work with my 07 Ram 2500 short bed. They do go in, but there is no good bolting solution for the sides of the rear stake. The top bolt is fine, but the two that you are supposed to drill is the most unsafe thing. There is two inches of space that needs spacers for reinforcementand no way to get in to do it. Without reinforcement, the
thin stake mount just pulls in really bad. Now I'm stuck with them and have to order a different style that will work properly. For an older truck, or different manufacturer they may work better. However a third generation Dodge they do not.
Decent item. I would suggest getting them professionally installed. You will need to drill into your truck bed. The product fit perfectly on my 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 in the stake posts. However I am only holding down a 900 pound camper, I would suggest if you have a heavier camper to get something different as I would imagine they might bend.
Will not fit ford trucks. Do not.\n Appreciate talking to someone saying that it would work. And now I have to pay the shipping back would not recommend this company.
I was hesitant about getting these because I wasn't sure if they would fit. I have a '65 Chevy C-10 and was concerned they would not work because any more, everything is about all the new vehicles on the road, not the oldies. But after consulting with the people at etrailer, I ordered them and couldn't have been happier. I did have to remove the metal tabs (they pry off), but after that, I measured, marked, drilled, and installed the tie-downs in about 20 minutes tops. Loaded the camper and the tie downs worked great. Took it camping 4 times so far and the tie downs are still solid as a rock. Thanks etrailer!
Overall, very simple and easy to install the Brophy tie downs. The hardware was honestly garbage.. weak grade that undoubtedly would not hold up to this weight and movement. Used heavy duty bolts to secure it to bed rails and stake pocket. So far, 200 miles driven in snow without much movement, but a bit worried about the longevity of the tie downs. This camper will stay permanently in the bed of the truck, so I will throw in some through bolts into the bed of the truck (peace of mind). Turn buckles seem to be good (other than a factory snag that sliced me open). So far happy with the product, could have been made a bit better for an extra cost; I definitely would have paid more for a two sided stake pocket bolt through. With only one tab for mounting to top side of bed rails this seems excessively weak.. do you see the gap in the stake pocket? It was seated when drilling and lagging it down. Started to turn under pressure.
Installed easily. Had to us longer bolts for the back two posts on my 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 4X4 Quad Cab. Also, had to trim some the factory plastic bed liner. No big deal. I took it for a test drive and one of the back brackets seems to twist a bit. I loosed the turnbuckles a little and it is better. I guess I had them too tight. I will be taking the camper on a mini-getaway and will add any new developments. So far, very happy with the product!
Put these on my 2002 F350. I have used torklift in the past and could never seem to get the camper (very light, 1100#) from moving around in the bed. I think that was due to the length of the chains and the angles they were at. With the Brophy's everything is good and tight. It can flex a little and sometimes does off road, but it is rock solid like a part of the truck 99% of the time. I have had none of the horror stories about it deforming the bed sides or anything like that. I would buy them again.
Used these on my 2012 Tundra Crew max Had to put in more effort in the installation then the instruction tell or show.
for example the truck pockets where these slide into I had too cut the plastic that was covering the holes,
I removed the tail light on one side to get the top bolt screwed in.
I had to remove the gas cap and plastic to secure the top bold.
I also added bigger washers cause there are existing hole that hold the factory plastic so the nut couldn't slide out and away.
Other then that these mount work great
I think the tubes that go into the stake pocket could have been made of a little heavier material.
Arrived quickly and works great!
These work just as expected. I didn’t put a monster camper on the truck so these hold up just fine. Plus they’re 90% cheaper than the frame mounts. Very happy I went with them.
After a few slight modifications the brophy camper tie downs worked like a champ!
This set of Brophy stake pocket tie downs came with a note in the instructions that they would not work for any vehicle newer than a 2011. My RAM 2500 has the ABS bed caps on the side. I removed them and enlarged the stake pocket holes using the pre-stamped template on the bed caps. Once I reinstalled the bed caps, the camper tie downs dropped into the stake pockets. I had read other reviews that the lag bolts were prone to stripping out. So I drilled 3/8" holes through the bedside and through the camper tie downs. Then I welded a 3/8" nut on the backside of the camper tie downs. Now all is well and secure. I think this is a good product, and I prefer it over the Brophy camper tie downs that clamp to the lip of the bed. I just wish there was a securement method that didn't involve lag bolts.

Thanks for the heads up about having to modify or drill into the truck. That's good to know ahead of time! Thanks for sharing all the photos of the process, too - helps to have an idea of what to expect :)
