Helpful Expert Reply:
On your 1997 Dodge Ram with an 8 foot bed both Curt hitches # C15318 and # C15319 are confirmed to fit. They also install in basically the same way and have the same capabilities so either will work just as well as the other for you. The difference between the two is which which trucks they fit. Part # C15318 fits a wider range because it also fits on the 6-1/2 foot bed because there is an extra bolt hole on the hitch that the short bed needs. Part # C15319 only fits the long bed. So either work just fine for your long bed.
