No issues with the hitch receiver other than safety chain holes could be a litter bigger so the snap on the chains snap
It’s a nice heavy hitch. While the mounting holes fit existing holes in the frame two of the three holes are oversized in my frame. There are other holes that would be better structurally in the frame. Other wise the hitch works well.
Nice beefy heavy duty upgrade over my cracked factory 97’ Dodge 3500 hitch. Bolted right in my long bed and would recommend to anyone looking for a stout hitch. Even makes the truck look tougher LOL
The Hitch Works Great! HOWEVER! Etrailer sent me the wrong hitch at first. Their website was deceptive on the description for my hitch on my Dodge 3/4 ton LONGBED. Anyway, I had to send back the first one and they sent me a tag to ship it back. I WAS NOT AWARE THAT I WAS GOING TO PAY FOR THAT RETURN SHIPPING. SO, I ended up paying for almost 2 HITCHES when you factor in the price of shipping. DO NOT RETURN HITCHES OR ANYTHING FOR THAT MATTER TO ETRAILER. I WILL NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM AGAIN!
One of the tabs interfered with the leaf spring mounting point so I had to trim about 1 sq-in of material off of it to provide clearance to sit tight to the frame. Other than that, assembly and design on it was all very stout.
Cardboard box it shipped in was destroyed and pretty much non existent but when you ship a large steel receiver in cardboard well it’s going to happen.

excellent hitch and great to work with the folks at etrailer. also ordered the wiring kit and trailer brake controller. videos were very helpful with the wiring.
Worked well, easy install, nice welded construction. Was able to pull down a tree with a winch using this hitch no problem look forward to towing with it
Great hitch. Super heavy duty.
Hitch quality is great. Only complaints-the chain hookups are very close to the receiver tube. If you have a hitch pin lock, you can’t easily connect your chains, or at all. Also, the hitch fits very close and tight on a 2001 Ram. Takes some time tightening and using a car jack to force It into position. Tighten carefully or you will break/strip bolts.

Hitch has been great. Has towed 10k+ lbs many times. Never came loose or any issues.
I ordered this to replace a factory hitch that was damaged in an accident. The hitch appears very strong. It is both heavier and longer than the factory hitch, which means to me that from a layman's engineering standpoint, it will spread the load better along the frame. Although the sales data on the e-trailer site said I would need to drill, mine bolted right on. Fits up nicely underneath the bumper. Spare tire(285/75 x 16) fits with no issues.
The only things that I observed that were less than stellar were that the top gusseting brace was not positioned square to the trailer hitch, and was welded in place crooked, Welds look good and strong, and the crooked piece won't be seen under the bumper. Also, the finish was damaged in several places, nothing serious, but since I live in an area that uses road salt, I will refinish it anyway. Powdercoat will not hold up long term in our environment.
All in all, my take is that this is a very strong product at a great price with less than perfect detailing. That was exactly what I needed.

If you live in an area with a lot of salt on the road it is a good idea to spray the hitch off with fresh water periodically. Check for scratches and touch them up with a rustoleum type of paint.
The receiver arrived in excellent condition with no transportation bruises. Installation was straightforward once I figured out the logic of 2 different sizes of bolts, we were on our way. The instructions and illustrations regarding the mounting bolts were not clear. It is a beautiful product with excellent fit.
Provisions to mount the trailer plug receptacle would have certainly been appreciated. I had to cut the bracket off the old receiver and weld it to new one.

Great product, great fit!
This Curt XD hitch replaced the seriously abused 20+ year old stock factory Dodge hitch on my 2001 Ram 2500, which I overloaded on a regular basis. Rated at only 5,000 lbs weight carrying/10,000 weight distributing I hauled a lot of 6000-8000 lb trailers and it held up until the flanges finally let go. I figured the Curt XD hitch, rated at 16,000 lb weight carrying would be a great replacement.
The Curt XD is seriously overbuilt with thicker steel and larger/longer flanges than the original, It was a tight fit on my Dodge but it squeezed in, with the frontmost mounting point going well in front of the spring mount, as opposed to the original. If you follow the instructions, which have you using the large hole on the back of the frame with the 9/16" hardware provided (which is a bit counterintuitive) the middle hole just lines up and the front hole has to be slightly drilled out using a 1/2" bit.
The hardest part was raising it in place as it's much heavier and off-balance than a smaller hitch. I ended up using a large C-clamp to attach it to my floor jack which worked great. I put it up high enough to hang it from the rear and middle bolts then cinched them up by hand, after which I drilled the front bolt hole and tightened everything down. The estimated install time of 20-40 minutes might be possible with a NASCAR pit crew, an hour or two is much more realistic! But once it's in, should be a lifetime piece.
Etrailer is very easy to deal with. They answered all my questions and provided me with additional information upon request. The Curt hitch fit and was somewhat easy to install (no fault of manufacturing, just a heavy chunk of steel). This unit meets all my requirements and sits up tighter under the chassis than the stock dodge hitch did.
This 16,000 lb hitch receiver is built with quality. The fit is excellent. The rear section of the hitch receiver is reinforced as it should be.
One concern I did have is that the rear reinforced holes are not a full circle. The nut does not have full contact area and the ears could spread during the torquing procedure. I elected to add hardened steel flat washers above the nut on the rear fasteners. These washers will allow for the full clamping force without deflecting the ears.
This hitch receiver will be put into use in two days pulling an 11,000 lb trailer (scaled load). I have no concerns with the capability of this hitch receiver.
One of the things I like about this hitch receiver is that the maximum tongue weight limit is the same whether weight carrying or using a weight distribution hitch. This is important to me.
I highly recommend this hitch as an upgrade.
I have a 1996 Dodge Ram 2500 w/ Diesel. The hitch fit perfectly and the factory holes lined up.
Product was delivered faster than expected and was undamaged.
Installed on a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 long bed w/ standard bumper. I haven't got to put a bunch of weight behind it yet, but will today. This hitch is definitely better engineered and heavier than the stock one was. I did not have to drill any holes because it lined up with a couple of holes from the previous hitch, otherwise I would have had to drill the 2 holes for the middle mount holes. Read carefully, you utilize the large 11/8" holes in the frame that are there from the factory for the rear mounting holes. As long as you do that everything works perfect. Super easy to install. Great product so far.
to be honest I had looked on Amazon first but could not find the heavy duty hitch I was looking for I'm glad I found etrailer not only did I find what I was looking for but it was a cheaper pricef or a heavier duty hitch then Amazon was selling for a higher price
I purchased this hitch after exceeding the limits of my factory unit. It has worked flawlessly ever since. Only wish it came with a mount for the factory electrical plug.
This does not bolt on to a 2002 dodge 3500 cab and chassis single cab. I knew that going in so no big deal. About 30 mins of drilling and it was installed. I bought the hitch from etrailer only because of their customer support when I called for help. They went above and beyond to help.
Ez bolt on !! Very nice product and bought other hitches before all ez to use and do it your self products will definitely buy again.. every helpful staff if you have and problems or concerns contact customer service and they will help you with anything to make things easier. If you order on weekends or late Friday don't expect it to ship till Monday afternoon evening ..3 day shipping is m-f business days only..other then by the shipping had no problem...will not pay more for shipping next time to get it sooner on a die line.

This thing is a BEAST. No worries about this guy collapsing like my factory one did. I did have 2 small issues since this guy needs every fraction of an inch of frame width at each mount hole.
1) a factory installed bolt tab was in the way of one of the bolt plates. Easy enough to bend away to clear.
2) A previous-owner installed exhaust hanger was in the way and had to be remounted. Also straightforward enough to remedy.

So far working out very well, I pull a 14’ dump trailer and a 16’ enclosed trailer on a daily basis and haven’t had any issues
