Features to know about

Tighter Handling on the Road: Rear Bar Reduces Body Roll

Nothing throws off confidence like feeling the back end shift when you corner or haul a heavy load. The Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar – 1-1/4" Diameter – ties the rear axle to the frame to balance weight transfer and cut down body roll. Built from thick 4140 chromoly steel, it’s nearly 30 percent better at resisting sway than standard bars. The result is a more planted, predictable ride you can trust through turns and quick maneuvers.

Less Fatigue on Long Drives: Stable, Predictable Control

Crosswinds, passing semis, or rough pavement used to mean constant steering corrections. This setup keeps the vehicle level by minimizing side-to-side motion, so you’re not fighting the wheel all day. It uses the rear axle’s weight to brace the frame as it shifts in turns, keeping things stable and making long drives less tiring.

Durable and Long-Lasting: Chromoly Steel and Polyurethane Bushings

This isn’t a basic steel bar with rubber mounts. The 4140 chromoly steel construction is stronger than typical 1020 steel, and the 1-1/4" diameter adds stiffness against torsional twist. Polyurethane bushings resist oil, gasoline, and ozone, so they won’t squish out or wear down fast. That means more consistent support and a system that stays solid over time.

Straightforward Install: Heavy-Gauge Hardware, No Drilling Required

The Roadmaster bar replaces the factory sway bar and bolts into the existing mount locations. There’s no drilling needed, and everything comes with it — end links, brackets, bushings, lubricant, and heavy-gauge mounting hardware. Once it’s in, it works cleanly alongside most aftermarket suspension gear for a simple, direct upgrade that instantly tightens up the ride.

this product gets the job done when towing heavy loads

by:

Our camper is way easier to drive with the sway bar. The whole truck is so much steadier . Thank you!!

by:

UPS screwed up the address change request so the bars were returned and we were charged a restocking fee of $[XX]. UPS took no responsibility for their mistake-- etrailer refunded the fee and sent my parts. 2 hours of fighting with UPS was resolved in 5 minutes by etrailer. Thanks

by:

Great customer service sway bar was a Easy replacement for factory sway bar Great quality installation 1999 ram 3500 4x4

by:

As usual etrailer comes through with an excellent product and great customer service.

by:

Everything lined up on my 98 Ram 3500 and it made a noticeable difference in sway with a camper in the bed.

by:

First off if your looking for a rear anti-sway bar do not hesitate to purchase a Roadmaster...QUALITY! hardware, paint, grommets, welding, the whole package top shelf! Install went well, test drive went well no more body roll, shipping was quick. Paul B. and etrailer made it easy thanks again for a great product!

2001 Dodge Ram 2500. All good except one frame bracket hole was 7/16th's instead of 1/2", the manufacture date on the two mounts was 1 year apart so evidently they changed to 1/2", VERY inconvenient when you live 20 mi. out of town and your truck is dismantled! Parts seem well built. Take it easy on the grease, by the time I was done I had it from one end to the other. 4 hour job alone in the driveway.

by:

5 it was great!

Fantastic

by:

I arrived bent or tweaked with perfect packaging?

by:

The bar fit nicely. The brake proportioning valve bracket had to be modified and the hole elongated. The performance with the camper on is night and day difference on my 1998 2500 Ram.

The bar still is one of the best handling modifications I have made. It makes the truck much more stable with loads especially with an in bed camper. I highly recommend this product.

by:

It’s been a few weeks since I did my research and have thrown away my notes.. I chose the Road Master over the Hellwig because the Roadmaster is thicker. I can’t remember the exact dimensions but I do know the Roadmaster is thicker.. I have a truck camper with Air bags installed and I was going down the road swaying side to side like a boat in the ocean.. When I took the stock anti sway bar off and set it besides the Roadmaster Anit Sway Bar, the Roadmaster is twice as thick as the stock.. Haven’t got to go camping yet due to Coronavirus Shelter in place but I can tell just by looking I made the right decision...

by:

The package arrived very promptly and in good condition. Next day I installed the roadmaster sway bar on a dodge truck that I haul a 10.5 camper. I'm pretty much at the truck weight limit. What a difference!. Where often I felt on the verge of going out of control now feels steady and secure. curvy hilly roads were the worst but now much better. On freeway semis passing would sway me to the far side of my lane and then upon passing suck me back. Now again greatly improved. Looking forward to my next trip!!

by:

nice stiff payload

by:

I did a fair amount of research before buying this Roadmaster rear sway bar setup. I like the fact that it attaches to the truck using factory axle holes (in my case, the holes below the shock mounts on the rear axle of my '00 Ram 3500 DRW) and that it clears my 4" exhaust piping with ease. We tow a 37' Travel Trailer with this truck and the Roadmaster sway bar has made a noticeable improvement in the ride quality.

by:

The hardware itself deserves 5 stars. The installation instructions deserve 1 star. Very poor instructions: wording less than clear, some components have been changed since they were written, and the pictures are very poor - in fact, the pictures were of a stock installation rather than the system sold. No torque specs given even though a torque wrench was listed as a required tool.

The manufacturer recommends contacting the dealership for the correct torque settings.

by:

Super duty compared to stock rear sway bar….installation instructions need to be reviewed and upgraded for easier assembly… very satisfied with performance and purchase thank you

by:

Outstanding performance upgrade for a heavy truck camper. Night and day difference. Larger than the bigwig for 94-02 rams. Handles my arctic fox 990 much better now. Complimented the recent 19.5 upgrade great!

by:

Considering the difference in diameter from stock to this upgrade I could feel the difference while driving. Easy to install with one minor obstacle. The factory left drop link bolt was installed between the fuel tank and the link mount which required us to remove the rear fuel tank bracket and pull the tank out far enough to pull the factory bolt out. The new bolt was installed towards the tank. Installed on ‘99 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4.

by:

A tremendous improvement in handling both with towing my 28ft gooseneck and just driving twisty roads unloaded. Has been trouble free. Highly recomended.

by:

Grate stuff. Easy to bolt up and figure out. Drive quality improved dramatically and less sway with trailers.
Just in the kit with the grease and red lock tight the hardware washers were one size to large so I got the right ones and installed all is well.

So glad to hear that, Dimitrios! Thanks for including a photo, too.

by:

Item and hardware appears to be top quality. The installation instructions on the other hand are TERRIBLE. Pictures are blurry, the photos are generic, torque specs are not included. If you have a “special” model (I.e. with load level sensing valve in the rear) like mine you MUST use the stock OEM hardware to mount bar. A mechanically inclined person can get through it successfully, have your tool box ready. Not going to say I won’t use this company again but I will do more research before purchasing.

Great addition to my vehicle. Noticeable difference while towing my trailer. Should have added this product much sooner. Hardware and product appear to be excellent quality.

@MikeM It is truly amazing the difference it makes to have an upgraded anti-sway bar Mike! To go off of your original review, I couldn't agree more. It is not that difficult to install, so why can't they make instructions that make a little more sense? Trust me when I say the competitors are not much better, they do make good fire starter though! That is why we make the videos, try to make the installs a little easier.

We were told this sway bar might not work on our Dodge Ram3500 dually. Let me tell you this worked great. Our truck has a camper on top and we took this on a long trip and it worked great. What a difference it made. This trip had lots of very high winds. We could easily tell the difference from before the sway bar and after. Thanks

Love this review Charles! It really is amazing the difference an upgraded sway bar, or adding a sway bar can do. Personally I think that every truck should come with a rear sway bar, it is sad that most do not now a days. Where did you go for your first trip?

by:

As others have said the sway bar is good but the directions could be improved. Removing the old down link on the drivers side is a bit of a challenge as you can't easily remove the old bracket until you remove the downlink. Unfortunately you can't get the bolt holding the link to the bracket without supporting the fuel tank and removing the rear strap so that you can push the tank over far enough to get the bolt out. Another issue was the old U brackets holding up the old sway bar were on 3" centers where the new bracket is on 2 3/4" centers. This looks like an insurmountable problem until you remove the star washers holding the old bolts where you can see there is a slot which allows you to use the bolts included. The old bolts were both attached to a plate which kept made the center distance between the bolts non adjustable so using the old bolts is not an option. On the passenger side the plate holding the 2 bolts was connected to the axle connection for the height sensing proportioning valve. I removed the 3 bolts holding it, took out the plate and cut off the front most bolt and reinstalled the plate. Fortunately that allowed me to use the old bolt in the plate and for the front most bolt I used one from the kit and achieved the 2 3/4" center spacing needed for the new bracket. All of this would be nice to know when you tackle this job. Fortunately I had all the tools needed to complete the job. I found it easy to install the new bar despite its weight by lifting up one end of the sway bar and loosely attaching it to the the down link. I then did the other side and once both ends were attached I put the center of the bar on my hydraulic jack and lifted it into place. This made it a fairly easy job to position and attach the U brackets to the axle despite the heavy weight of the bar. A video of this process on an older (1998 vintage) Dodge Ram 2500 would be a big help.

  • Availability Of Front And Rear Sway Bars For 2001 Dodge Ram 3500 Dually
Hello Derek, thanks for reaching out. We do have a rear sway bar for your 2001 Dodge Ram 3500 dually, but I am sorry to say we do not offer a front sway bar option at this time. For the rear bar, here is what I recommend: - Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar - 1-1/4" Diameter # RM-1129-122

  • Is An Anti-Sway Bar Recommended For A 1998 Dodge Ram 2500 Hauling A 2000 Lance 1010 Truck Bed Camper
Yes, adding a rear anti-sway bar on your 1998 Dodge Ram 2500 will make a major difference in your vehicle's handling while hauling your truck bed camper. Truck bed campers are very top heavy and can cause side-to-side sway so an anti-sway bar will help keep you upright on the road. For a 1998 Dodge Ram 2500 you would need the Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar # RM-1129-122.

  • Best Suspension Upgrade for a 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 with Arctic Fox Truck Bed Camper
For your 1999 Dodge Ram 2500, I recommend replacing the rear sway bar first since the majority of the added weight is placed on the rear suspension. Adding a front or rear sway bar will not affect the ride quality. The Firestone airbags you have work great for helping to evenly distribute the added weight but will not compare with an upgraded sway control bar as far as reduced body roll goes. I recommend taking a look at the Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar part # RM-1129-122. The Roadmaster...

  • Will Upgrading Rear Anti-Sway Bar Help Reduce Body Roll on a 1999 Dodge Ram Pickup
Upgrading the rear factory anti-sway bar with # RM-1129-122 will help reduce side to side body roll. This bar fits 2500 and 3500 series 4x4s only. Other option to reduce body roll is to install some suspension helper springs. If you have a 4x4 with standard height (no factory or aftermarket lift) I recommend # TDR1525H4 which will fit a 1500 or 2500 but not a 3500. For a 3500 use # TDR3500 for a 4x4 or # TDR3500B for 2-wheel drive models. For a 1500 with standard height and 2-wheel drive...

  • Rear Axle Anti-Sway Bar for 1999 Dodge Ram 3500 Extended Cab Dually
The Roadmaster Rear Axle Anti-Sway Bar # RM-1129-122 that you referenced is a correct fit for the 1999 Dodge Ram 3500 extended cab 4-wheel-drive dually. I verified the fit of this kit on your truck with my technical contact at Roadmaster. This will not fit 2WD versions. This anti-sway bar installs without drilling since it replaces the factory sway bar.

  • Does Install of Roadmaster Swaybar on 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 Require Drilling
The Roadmaster rear sway bar part # RM-1129-122 is a confirmed fit for your 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 4WD, it replaces the factory sway bar, uses factory mount locations and does not require drilling. It wasn't tested with aftermarket 4 inch exhaust but looking at how the exhaust routes on your vehicle and the location of this I do not believe it would be an issue. Removing the tank bracket is sometimes required to access the bolt. It's not as difficult or challenging as it may sound like though.

  • Rear Sway Bar Recommendation for 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 with Camper
A rear sway bar will help greatly with the body roll you are experiencing with your 1999 Dodge Ram 2500. For that you'd want the Roadmaster sway bar part # RM-1129-122 which is a confirmed fit and designed for your situation.
