Question:

I am looking into an upgrade to my 2012 Ram 1500 rear suspension. I occasionally tow a 10,000 lb car trailer and am interested in part # TDR1500DQ. I see also though that you have several variations of it with different weight listings. What, if any, are the downsides of having these over the lesser weight rated? Better ride while empty? Also, what are your opinions on the product? Thanks.

The Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement part # TDR1500DQ is an excellent option for your 2012 Ram 1500 as long it is not a regular cab. If you do have a regular cab then you will want to use the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System part # TDR1500DS.

The higher the weight capacity the spring is rated for, the stiffer the spring will be. A softer spring will result in a better ride quality but a stronger spring will give you more support. For your 10,000 lb car trailer, I recommend going with the 8,600 lb jounce springs (part # TDR1500DQ). The springs will not be engaged while unloaded for the exception of driving over bumps or potholes.

I have attached a installation video for the 8,600 lb system installed on a similar 2013 Ram 1500 for you as well.
