Trailer Wiring Harness for a 2008 Volkswagen Touareg V6

Question:

I have a 2008 VW Touareg with a V6 I recently put a Curt 2 inch Reciever Hitch on mainly to use with a motorcycle carrier. I realize from time to time I will need to tow a light weight trailer, nothing larger than a 19 foot ski boat, these trailers will not have brakes. Can I get by using only the power converter listed above to actuate the trailer lights without setting off alarms or blowing lights in the Touareg? thank you!

If you install the # C59496, according to the installation instructions linked for reference, you should not have to worry about the trailer connection causing error codes. This wiring harness gets the power for the trailer lights from the vehicle battery but the signals to tell the trailer light what to do still come from the vehicle tail light wiring, so the harness will need to completely installed to work.
