For programming a Fan-Tastic roof vent remote like part # FV9068-09 what you need to do is hold your remote 12 inches away from the fan while holding both arrows. The Auto and Manual lights will begin flashing immediately. Continue holding both arrows down until the seven LED's flash once. Now it's programmed.

You may have to try both sets of arrows, the speed and temp ones.

just got a new fantastic remote control. it says to hold down the two top arrows, manual and auto. the two light s will come on. that's where it ends as both lights don't come on Thanks

@Rick Obviously if lights are coming on on the remote it has power, the fan for sure has power as well? Did you replace the remote because it stopped working? I wonder if the circuit board is the actual problem in the fan assembly.

What does it mean by "both" arrows? There are 4 arrows

@Rick Try holding both sets. The remote is funny and sometimes it is the speed arrows you need to hold down and other times it's the temp arrows.

Hello, I just received my remote. I installed the batteries and followed the instructions to program with no results. All attempts were within 12 inches of the fan. 1st attempt - pressed the power button so the manual and 100% lights were on. I pressed and held the up and down temp buttons for 30 seconds. There was no change to the LEDS. No flashing and no response from the fan. 2nd attempt - pressed the power button so the manual and 100% lights were on. I pressed and held the up and down Speed buttons for 30 seconds. There was no change to the LEDS. No flashing and no response from the fan. 3rd attempt - pressed the power button so the manual and 100% lights were on. I pressed and held the up temp and up Speed buttons for 30 seconds. There was no change to the LEDS. No flashing and no response from the fan. 4th attempt - pressed the power button so the manual and 100% lights were on. I pressed and held the don Speed and down temp buttons for 30 seconds. There was no change to the LEDS. No flashing and no response from the fan. 5th and further attempts - I tried combinations of buttons, 2 at a time for 30 seconds. There was no change to the LEDs. No flashing and no response from the fan. The old remote that is no longer functional has a designation on it of Model with 417RF. From research on etrailer, I purchased the FV9068-81 remote. Further advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Kris

@KrisR when was last time old remote was working? It's possible that the problem is not the remote and something on the circuit board of the fan that is preventing the remote from working. It's a longshot but I would try disconnecting the power wire for the fan assembly to see if a hard reset of the circuit board allows the remote(s) to work. If it's not that it's probably time for a new vent assembly as the board isn't replaceable.

@JamesonC Thanks for the input. The fan was working last week. The old remote does not show any signs of life even with new batteries, i.e. no LEDs nothing happens when buttons are pressed, etc. Would it be enough to cut off power at the source rather than half uninstalling the fan to get at the wire? Or is there something different that happens when just the power wire is detached? This is in the roof of a showhauler truck. Each night the shore power is unplugged and the box area is cut off from battery power, including the cab battery. I would think that does the same as removing the power from the fan, wouldn't it? My concern is that the remote LEDs always remain on. They don't flash with any combination of buttons pressed. Does the remote need to receive a signal from the fan circuit board to initiate the LEDs flashing and the remote attempting to pair? Thanks.

@KrisR the way you've been cutting power to the fan would be enough to reset it. You can try cutting the power to it like you have been and then trying to turn the fan on at the fan assembly to make sure all of the capacitors in the board are totally drained of power but I suspect it won't change much. You said the fan was working last week. Does that mean it is no longer working or just that it was working last time you checked? Since new batteries haven't brought the old remote back at all I would have still assumed issue is the remote and there's just something holding up the remote pairing process. There isn't any chance you were trying to pair it with the power cut to the fan assembly? The flashing that takes place at beginning of pairing process would not require communication with the fan assembly.
