1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this Dexstar 14-inch by 5-1/2-inch white spoke steel trailer wheel with the five on 4-1/2-inch bolt pattern. Now this wheel has sturdy steel construction. As you can see, it is an eight-spoke design. It does offer excellent corrosion resistance, 'cause they use a two-step finishing process, which will include first an E-coat primer and then a white coated, powder coat finish. It is a high-quality wheel.
It does meet the DOT, Department of Transportation, specifications. Now if you notice the center cap is not included. If you do want a center cap, we do sell those separately on our website. You just wanna make sure to get a center cap that'll have the same diameter as this pilot hole. 'Cause when you install it, the center cap will go through this hole.
The diameter on this pilot hole is 3.19-inches. This part is made in the USA. Now, I do wanna give you a few measurements. We're gonna measure the diameter and the width. And when you measure the diameter on the wheel, you're always measuring inside to inside.
Basically, when the tire bead is seated on this, it seats right here. So the diameter is gonna be inside to inside. So you can see if we take our tape measure and if we go straight across inside to inside, 14-inches for the diameter. The width will be the same way. Basically, you're measuring inside to inside or bead seat to bead seat, 5-1/2-inches.
Now the bolt pattern on this wheel is a five on 4-1/2-inch bolt pattern. And if you want to measure that on one, that's an odd number of lugs, like in this case, five. All you have to do is pick any hole. Let's say you're gonna pick this hole and then you're gonna measure across to either one of these holes, but when you measure it from the center of the starting hole to the furthest edge of the hole that you measure to. So on this one, if we measured it, it would be 4-1/2-inches. So that means it's a five lug, 4-1/2-inch bolt pattern. Does use a wheel lug size of a 1/2-inch by 20, and the weight capacity on this wheel is 2,200 pounds. But that should do it for a look at the Dexstar 14-inch by 5-1/2-inch white spoke steel trailer wheel with the five on 4-1/2-inch bolt pattern.
