Question:

Wondering if this cover can be opened and closed manually if its not hooked up to power or iced over and worried about burning out the motor? Thanks

No, the PowertraxPRO XR Hard Tonneau Cover w/ Trax Rails - Powered # RTT-90852 can not be used manually according to my contact at Retrax. It can only be used utilizing the electric motor.

Since you are concerned about ice build up and access without power, I recommend instead going with the manual option # RTT-80852. This still gives you the side tracks and will manually slide on maintenance free ball bearings and can lock in place at any desired point. This simply removes the power feature that in your case may be an issue versus a bonus feature.

So my motor seems to bad on my retrax. I unplugged the connection and fed it power directly. I can hear what sounds like a relay clicking but won't open. If I try the remote, no clicking sound. Replaced both batteries in remotes and still nothing. It has power because the green light turns on when using remote and led light works. I'm stuck here and need to open it. Any way of disengaging this to open it?

@Stephan I reached out to my contact at Retrax and they said there isn't a way to get in and/or move it manually, so it sounds like it may be a warranty issue. If you reach out to them and provide the following information they can help you look into this further: -Vehicle Year, Make, Model, Bed Length -Serial ID Number -Part Number of Product, Received -Customer's Proof of Purchase Receipt The serial number will be located underneath what we refer to as the tailgate panel of the rolling curtain. This will be the first slat of the cover that touches the tailgate if fully extended out. Underneath this last slat will be an white/silver label that has Serial # and roughly 9-14 digits following.
