Features to know about

Adds the Clearance You Need: 13-1/4" Long Shank

Sometimes you just need a little more room between your vehicle and trailer — whether that’s to clear a tailgate, spare tire, or tongue jack. The Brophy BM20 gives you 13-1/4" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole, giving your setup that extra breathing space without using an extender that cuts capacity. It’s an easy way to gain clearance and keep full towing strength.

Keeps Your Trailer Level: 3/4" Rise or 2" Drop

Getting the right height match between your hitch and trailer makes towing smoother and safer. This mount gives you a 3/4" rise or a 2" drop so you can line things up for level towing. Whether you flip it for rise or drop, it helps keep your load even and steady on the road.

Built for Heavy Loads: 10,000 lbs GTW, 1,000 lbs TW

For folks pulling campers, boats, or work trailers, capacity matters. The BM20 handles up to 10,000 lbs gross towing weight and 1,000 lbs tongue weight. Its sturdy steel construction with a hollow shank takes the stress of big jobs without bending or flexing, so you can haul with confidence every time.

Stays Tough Through Weather: Durable Powder Coat Finish

Towing gear sees all kinds of weather and road grime. The BM20’s gloss black powder coat finish stands up to corrosion and keeps rust at bay trip after trip. It’s built to stay looking good and working right even after long hauls through rain or salty roads.

Simple and Reliable: Fixed Ball Mount Design

No moving parts, no adjustments — just solid reliability. The fixed steel shank slides into any 2" receiver and locks in place with a standard 5/8" pin (sold separately). Once installed, it stays quiet and steady so you can focus on the drive instead of fiddling with your gear.

Slightly longer, so you can open your tailgate with a cargo trailer attached. Trailers with a tongue jack that is forward are problematic for tailgates...

product is working just like it should doing a great job its just what I needed so tailgate doesnt hit trailor jack. Thanks again. Mike

by:

This is exactly what I needed to get my hitch to extend past my spare tire on my Jeep Liberty. It could have been 2" longer, since the locking mechanism on the trailer is still tight to the spare. This was the best product that I could find to solve the problem.

by:

I had never towed anything before and recently bought a small pop up camper. The Ball mount was to short for my 2011 Jeep Wrangler and I had to remove the spare tire each time to correctly hitch. This Ball mount is the perfect solution. Just the correct length to hitch up with out any more problems. Also better made and less expensive then the dealer sold me. By reading the questions asked by customers I was able to pick out the correct product. Great Web Site and Excellent service.

by:

This was exactly what I was trying to find in various stores with no luck. Quality built, American made product. Gives me the little extra distance for turning and allows tailgate to drop without hitting trailer.

I love the hitch. However, the crime [chrome] has come off of the ball and it has rusted. The extended hitch has worked very well in towing and launching my boat.

by:

We got this so we could open our tailgate without having to unhitch the trailer. It works great! Product is good, service was fast... it made our trip to Alaska much happier (our dog needs the tailgate lowered so she can jump in and out for potty breaks). We still need to have the truck and trailer pretty much straight in line with each other... if there is too much angle left or right, we can't fully lower the tailgate. We drive a 2015 Ford F-150.

by:

I ordered the Dexter nev-er-adjust electric trailer brake and bearing kit's for my Aliner. The installation was easy thanks to your instructional video's. The delivery was fast and everything fit perfectly. I took one twelve hundred mile trip and had no issues. I also ordered the Brophy ball mount because it was long enough for me to drop my tailgate without hitting the hitch crank.

Thanks

by:

Hard to find item. But extends trailer back enough to open tail gate without hitting jack crank. Was not available at Northern or other suppliers locally.

Product has worked out to exceed my expectations. In fact it makes my trailer easier to tow.

by:

This product allowed me to open my deck lid on the tow vehicle while hitched. I love it, was delivered promptly and is excellent quality, could not love it more!
Also increased capacity from 600/6000 to 1000/10000 lbs. while not needed I like the safety of the margin.

I love this trailer hitch for my truck because it allows freedom to put tailgate up and down when we do equestrian camping. It has been a great purchase.

Great!

by:

Excellent, heavy duty, well built. HOWEVER, the width of the lip where the ball mounts is over a 1/4" wider than standard. This means standard accessories such as stabilizers and backup guides will not be able to be used with this ball mount.

Great

by:

Gives me the extra 6" extension I need so that the rear liftgate on my van can open without hitting the trailer jack, or the spare tire which I carry on the trailer tongue.

This is a VERY solid piece, would easily handle far more than my 300lb tongue weight.
As usual etrailer delivered exactly as promised.

its been hung on the back for a year. I never take it off.All kinds of weather, including Hurricane Matthew, Totally bulletproof.I have only one complaint, I bang my shins into it once in a whilewhen loading stuff in the back. But thats me, not the hitch. In a year its pulled 3 different boats, 2 different trailersand, in a pinch, anchor point for the chain while felling a tree.

by:

BM20 Long Drawbar. Perfect for my 2005 Jeep Liberty. I no longer have to remove the spare to tow. Solved what was a major pain!

by:

Yes a very nice product, made trailer look just right

by:

I’m pleased with the product and how prompt the delivery was. However the packaging was insufficient and the packaging was torn open all over. Scuffing of the finish is a result and of little consequence due to the intended use. It’s a stinger w/ball for motorhome. May I suggest better packaging in the future

by:

This ball mount was just the right length needed so that my trailer would not interfere with the spare tire mounted on the back of my van. The mount appears to be heavy duty and well made.

by:

Needed a longer ball mount while pulling a cargo trailer so I could open the tailgate on my truck. This appears sturdy and worked well.

by:

Perfect size for a 2004 Jeep Liberty with spare wheel on back. Very nice quality. I can now mount my trailer hassle free.

by:

Hitch insert looks great. Only gave 4 stars because I had to call and remind somebody about my order, then it came in a couple days :)

by:

I purchased a Ranch Hand rear bumper for my 2500HD but wanted to retain the use of a receiver hitch. The ball mount would need to extend 8" from the pin hole to even reach the edge of the bumper. This BM29 ball mount works out perfect. The welds look great and the finish is just fine. The only complaint I have is they gained a little length by moving the pin hole a little closer to the end shortening the insertion amount slightly. Not a big deal, it is just noticable next to the other mounts I have at the house.

by:

Customer service is awesome

by:

This is really nice. Beveled edges so it slips into receiver hitch so sweet. Beautiful welds heavy weight mount for my weigh safe ball. I bought a 10,000 lbs hitch and I wanted a draw bar with the same type rating. Now the only thing limiting my trailer capacity is my truck's ability to tow, not the hitch, bar or ball.

by:

Just the right length for my Bronco to be able to get past the spare tire

by:

I NEEDED A LONGER HITCH TO PULL MY BOAT AND THIS LOOKED FERFECT 13 1/4 LONG WOULD DO THE JOB. AFTER I BOUGHT IT I SAW ONE ON E-BAY FOR $66.00 DOLLARS PLUS $12.00 FRT.

  • Can I Extend My Hitch Without Using TorkLift Hitch and SuperTruss Extension
The only other extension option we carry besides the Torklift SuperTruss extender that does not cut your tongue weight in half is an extra long ball mount. Traditional extensions such as part # C45796 cut the tongue weight capacity of the hitch on the truck in half because it creates extra leverage and movement in your towing setup. The only extra long ball mount we offer that is long enough for your setup is the Hidden Hitch ball mount part # BM20 at 13-1/4 inches long. That length is...

  • How do I use a Bike Rack and Pull a Trailer at the same time
We carry a very handy 2 inch ball mount for this exact application. The part is # D210. The ball mount slides and pins into your hitch and the top receiver will accept 2 inch bike racks and hold them above the ball. The Ball Mount has a 500 lb tongue weight capacity, which means that the bike rack and the bikes on it as well as the trailer tongue weight cannot weigh more than 500 lbs or the tongue weight capacity of the hitch, whichever is lower. We also have a bike rack that clamps around...

  • Option to Increase Turning Radius of Trailer Towing Setup Without Losing Weight Capacity
Hitch extenders can add enough length to give a better turning radius but the problem is that they cut the tongue weight capacity of the hitch by 50 percent. So your best option would be to go with a longer ball mount to gain the extra clearance without sacrificing capacity. For example we have the Brophy Ball Mount part # BM20 which is 13-1/4 inches in length and has the same 6,000 lb capacity as your vehicle. I attached a review video for this for more info as well.

  • Longer Ball Mount Solution for Camper Towing with Tailgate Down for Added Clearance
The best way to add clearance when towing with a truck that has it's tailgate down is to go with a longer ball mount like the # D-26 that you referenced which is overall 12-5/8 inches. You can use hitch extenders but they end up cutting the capacity of the hitch they are installed by 50 percent so they aren't my favorite solution to recommend.

  • Recommended Extended Ball Mount or Hitch Extender for Towing Boat Trailer
For your 2018 Tahoe and boat trailer needing a longer extension between them I recommend the Brophy Ball Mount for 2" Hitch - 3/4" Rise, 2" Drop - 13-1/4" Long - 10,000 lbs # BM20. Having a longer ball mount like this will not reduce the capacity of your hitch at all. This will give you a length of 13-1/4 inches from the center of the ball to the hitch pin hole. For a compatible hitch ball the shank needs to be 1 inch diameter for this mount. I recommend the 2 inch ball # 40038 or...

Now the # BM20 has a 10,000lb trailer weight rating, and 1,000lb tongue weight rating.
