Will Curt Class V XD Trailer Hitch Receiver Fit a 1992 Dodge Ram

Question:
I need to upgrade my receiver hitch. Do I need to worry about the existing mount holes? Truck: 1992 Dodge W250 Cummins. Current Hitch: Draw Tite class 3, I dont have the model, but it is a welded unit Tongue: 500/1000 Gross: 5000/10000 Distance between bolts from rear of truck 1 to 2: 5, 2 to 3: 6 7/8. I need at least: Carry weight 1000, 10000 So I am concerned that If I have to punch new holes, it will begin to weaken the frame. Do I need to find a good match on current holes, or not worry about it. I am interested in the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver Class V XD - 2 Code: C15300. But, it appears to have a very tight bolt pattern which might cause the old bolt pattern to be in close proximity to the new new bolt pattern. What to do...

The Curt Class V XD # C15300 is a confirmed fit for your 1992 Dodge Ram. However, on some model years, installation does require holes to be drilled, and others it uses existing holes.
See the graphic attached to show the spacing of the holes. From center to center of the bolt holes, 1 to 2 measures 5-1/8 inches and from 2 to 3 it's 4-1/16 inches.
Depending on how you measured yours the first two holes sound like they could line up. The issue will be with the last and it sounds like you'll need to drill those two. I understand your concern of putting more holes into the frame of your truck. The less drilling the better.
