Is Drilling Required to Install Curt Hitch on 1997 Ford F-350

Updated 02/03/2026 | Published 07/03/2024

Question:

I have a 1997 F-350 that currently has a torquelift hitch on it with the standard step bumper. Not needed for how i use the truck and would rather have clearance than a second receiver opening. My question is how the holes on the flange that bolts to the frame line up between the curt hitch and the torquelift? I know there are more holes that have been drilled in the frame with the torquelift, so hopefully they line up with the curt. I have thought about just cutting the second receiver off, but the welds are pretty beefy. Thanks, Kyle

Hey Kyle, just from looking at the mounting flanges of the Curt # C15300 and the Torklift you have installed on your truck currently, it does look like you would need to do some drilling to install the hitch. It shouldn't be too bad though.

Hey Kyle, how did things go with fitting the Curt hitch on your F-350 after checking the flange holes? Your update could make it easier for the next person looking to swap out a Torklift for more clearance.
