Distance From Rear Bolt Hole to Receiver Opening on B&W Heavy-Duty Trailer Hitch

Published 12/18/2025

Question:

Hello. I have a 1996 K3500 cab and chassis with a service body and a long/deep 12inch deep custom bumper on the back. Im concerned this hitch doesnt come back far enough for me from the end of the frame rails to be flush with the back of the bumper. How far is it from the last rear most mounting hole to the face of the 2inch receiver opening at the rearmost part of the hitch? For reference, Im not too concerned with , but from the end of the frame railslast mounting hole I need it to be about 10 inches so is close to flush with the end of the bumper. Thanks.

Hey Tim! The distance from the most rear hole to the end of the # BWHDRH25122 receiver tube is going to be 12". See the attached photo.

According to your diagram, this does not fit a cabin chassis, because the cabin chassis trucks have a 34-in standard width frame rail. Do you have any trailer hitches that will fit my needs?

@Tim I can double check that width measurement once B&W is around for the day if you want, could be off or outdated. We have installed the # BWHDRH25122 on the cab and chassis, several of the customer photos are on the cab and chassis, and we know it is designed to fit vehicles with frame that is 34" wide outside to outside so it should work.

@Tim I wasn't thinking about it because we don't run into this too often but the B&W has two configurations. The tabs are sticking out here in the picture, they will be facing in for your cab and chassis which changes the measurement so it fits the frame. The 12" measurement is the same either way.
