Westin MAX Winch Mounting Tray # 46-21245 is a confirmed fit for your 2006 GMC Sierra 2500 HD and it mounts in front of the factory bumper. The linked photo, taken from the install instructions which I've sent to you, shows the finished appearance (along with a bull bar).
