Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 41947 fits the cab and chassis models of the 1992 GMC 3500 trucks. These are the trucks that do not come with beds and are turned into utility trucks, ambulance vehicles, and similar things like that. These trucks have a narrower frame width than the pickup models. If your truck's frame width is 34 inches wide measured from the outside of one frame rail to the outside of the other then this hitch will fit.

If you have a regular pickup model with a standard/step bumper then for a similar hitch that will fit I recommend # C15325. It is rated for 2,400 pounds tongue weight and 16,000 pounds gross trailer weight.

If the truck has the deep drop bumper, sometimes called a cowboy bumper, then I recommend # C15317 which is also rated for 2,400 pounds tongue weight and 16,000 pounds gross trailer weight.

And if the truck has the factory roll pan bumper then the hitches are rated lower, 500 pounds tongue weight and 5,000 pounds gross trailer weight, and I recommend # 13942.
