Question:
I have a 2014 Lexus RX350 without the factory tow package. I have a very small utility trailer that i use for short trips to the Waste Management site and to Home Depot etc. I would like to have the Lexus be able to tow this trailer with the lights functioning. i already have a hitch from e-trailer installed on the vehicle. Now, Lexus will not install the factory module on the car since it does not have the tow package. Do you know if the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness, code 118478 for the 2012 RX 350 will fit on the 2014 model and if there are any changes on the 2014 models electrical system that would prevent this kit 118478 from working properly on the 2014 model? Thank you in advance for your response.

Both the 2012 and 2014 model years of the Lexus RX 350 are part of the vehicle's third generation, spanning 2008 through 2015 model years. Despite this, wiring harness fits are not shared.
My contact at Tow Ready suggested you check for a wiring connector right behind the rear bumper. Even though you do not have the tow package this connector may still be there. (Exactly what is included in a tow package can vary from year to year and model to model.) If so you can use # 56083 from Curt. Please refer to the linked video which shows you the vehicle connector at the 1:20 mark.
If you do not have a connector then you can use 4-pole kit # C59496. This powered converter will protect the RX 350's wiring from any faults in the trailer.

My Lexus also required a towing converter relay, Lexus Part # 81985-WY010. I had a heck of a time finding the plug, but eventually found it behind the right rear interior panel. It was just above the bottom of the side panel. The only way I saw it was with a light and a small mirror. I was able to connect the relay to the plug, however. After feeling around the cable I discovered that is was being held up with some tape. After tearing the tape with my hand I was able to pull down the connected relay and fasten it to a mounting hole in the body. The relay was the only additional thing I had to do beyond installing the cable for the lights to the pre-existing connector in front of the rear bumper on the driver's side. Did't even need to add a fuse. I don't know what some of these other folks are talking about with regard to cutting off connectors and splicing in wires. If you buy the right cable it will already have the right connector on it. I have 3 short video clips of my installation.
