For a cargo carrier, do you have to have a license plate mounted on the carrier since the cargo will be blocking the license plate on the vehicle?

We do have license plate brackets that can be mounted on a carrier.
If you are looking for a bracket with an LED light I recommend part # LPL55CB. For a lighted bracket with a replaceable incandescent bulb I recommend part # LP55CB. To install either of these lights the black wire would need to tap into the running light circuit of your vehicle and the white wire would need to get grounded. The best way to wire this is to use a harness like part # HM48035.
If you don't want to install a bracket with a light I recommend part # LP10SB. Since there are different laws about license plate lights and how they are enforced I do recommend installing a bracket with a light to be on the safe side.
The mounting hardware is not included with these license plate brackets.
We also offer a few cargo carrier light kits that you may want to consider. These are great if the cargo carrier or the cargo in the carrier block the view of the tail lights on your vehicle. The kits we offer like part # e98943-44LED may be a specific fit for a cargo carrier, so you will want to know the carrier part number before making a choice. The kits typically have a 4-way connector to plug into the vehicle. You could most likely make the # e98943-44LED work. It connects to a 4-way.
