Kate M. my salesperson, had a most professional interaction with me being certain of my and my vehicle's needs. In addition, she walked me through the complete installation process. This I completed, wiring the 7-way and the Curt Discovery Controller making no errors along the way. On the first test, every terminal on the 7-way tested as it should. Very easy to install! I put off installing this stealth hitch for a month dreading taking off the body panel... Just to find out it was extremely easy. The whole process took me four hours, would have been done sooner if I didn't unnecessarily take off a small battery cable that prevent the car from starting. The part of the makes me happy is the added safety from the superior strength in steel and the protruding ball to help protect from getting rear ended!


Have a 2021 Durango SXT. Bought the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires, Tekonsha POD Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 2 Axles - Time Delayed, and Replacement Brake Control Plug-In Harness for Tekonsha and Draw-Tite Brake Controller 12" Long. 7 wire was easy to install but break controller a little harder do to the vehicle I have. Previously bought tow hitch and 4 way wire trailer plug from etrailer. Very happy with all.


It fits and works though required a modification, I think mine might have just been a bad part out the factory.

The install wasn't too bad but I spent way too long trying to figure out why my left turn signal was showing as tail lights and my tail lights were showing as my left turn signal. Turns out the wiring was wrong on the 4 pole connector (picture attached). I wasn't sure which end was wrong (the 4-pole adapter, or this adapter) so I cut and swapped two of the wires on the 4 pole adapter to make it work correctly. Definitely an issue with the manufacturing process, but the dealership wanted $2,700 to add a receiver and 7 way. Buying all the parts (and a new brake controller) from here was only around $700.

For anyone curious about this model Jeep. The main battery is under the drivers seat, it makes this install super easy because you don't have to bring anything through the firewall. I brought my wires through the small vent behind the plastic rear-quarter panel (big piece of plastic that wraps around the back) on the drivers side, then just under the carpet up to the battery. Once there I removed the rest of the grey layer from the wires, cut the black wire, and continued with the white wire and rest of the black wire to under the dash (for brake controller power and to send the signal all the way to the back).


Very nice item, very easy to install all the connectors were good quality and precrimped on the wire ends, the only thing the little plastic tab that locks the plug into the receptacle snapped off quite easily now I have to wire tie it to secure it but other than that very nice product includes everything you need for a nice clean install.


This is exactly what I needed to install the Tekonsha P3 controller in my 2000 Silverado. The 25' wire was installed from the engine bay to the trailer connector per the included instructions. It's been working perfect for over a year now.


I've had this trailer hitch on my 2013 Outback for a year now and love it! I tow a popup tent trailer and this hitch works excellently. It was a solid half day installation but my Dad and I were able to knock it out no problem! I love the discreet look of this since I'm not often towing the trailer. I couldn't recommend enough! Way better than the bulkier, less tasteful versions available.


I installed the kit on my 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser, which was already equipped with the factory 4 wire connector, and it was pretty straight forward. Of course, it's universal kit so there are lots of variables between vehicles, bur that being said, it fit mine just fine. The only thing I did differently is tapped the brake light circuit at the master cylinder with the included Scotch Lock rather than at the brake pedal since my vehicle has a manual transmission and the clutch pedal made it all but impossible to access the circuit there. Overall, the hardware seems to be of good quality and the instructions were fairly easy to follow. I must say the included 4-wire connector extension isn't very secure in the connector bracket, but a little RTV should fix that. I will be towing a lightweight A-frame trailer and I'm sure this is just what I need.


I have a 2018 BMW X2 that did not come with a factory tow package. I had an etrailer hitch and 4 way plug installed last year and has been perfect since. I just recently purchased a camper and needed to have a Brake controller & Brake controller 7 way deluxe kit installed. My mechanic installed them with the detailed instructions that the units came with without any issues. The Tekonsha P3 is extremely user friendly and is working flawlessly. A bit overkill for my car being I can only tow max 3500 pounds, and my camper is 1 axel. this unit is rated up to 3 axles. I look at it like this way, when I trade in my BMW I will take my P3 with me. etrailer is amazing with the support & products they provide and I highly recommend them to anyone who asks me.

I bought a van that didn’t have the hitch or wiring for trailering. I used this kit to make the proper connections work. Plenty of wire included, good instructions, and quality parts. I also used heat shrink tubing on the connections to firm them up and give them some weather protection. I had an existing bracket on my hitch that worked w the new 7 pin connector. Just had to drill mounting holes. The new connection also comes w a flat 4 type so no adapter needed.


product was excellent and COMPLETE. everything you need with very DETAILED directions. i also ordered the prodigy P2 to complete my install. both were excellent and very recommended. only modification was on the actual plastic cover on bumper, i cut away minimal pieces with razor knife for perfect fit. you can look at all the pics to check out install. I took advantage of the reverse light wire and put LED light bar on back of trailer.

i made one email to e trailer for exact numbers for my make and model. the response was pretty impressive. Full detail with pictures and product numbers all set up so all i had to do was press order and pay for it. This is how american companies are supposed to be ran......I LOVE IT!!!!

All my etrailer parts and accessories appear to be well made and have worked as intended.


The holes were drilled in the wrong direction. I paid to have it installed and then realized the holes were wrong. etrailer gave me a very hard time about returning it, even after I sent them pictures as proof.

Use your local U-haul location to purchase and install your new hitch.


1 year review. I installed this product on my 2017 Toyota Highlander. As a person inexperienced with vehicle electrical systems, I found the installation challenging but achievable. I appreciated the advice and videos from I liked the final fit and finish on my vehicle when using manufacturer hitch and bumper kit.

After 1 year of usage, I have found 4 specific opportunities for improvement.

1. Water accumulation in the plug cover flap. After rain, I flip the flap up and water spills out of the crevice in the flap. There is also a small amount of water in the plug itself, but unclear if there is rain entering the socket or if this is from spillage when the flap is opened. This needs to be sealed to protect the plug!

2. Poor quality top mounting nuts and bolts. I overtightened one of the top bolts and it sheered off. I replaced it with zinc plated hardware. In my picture you can see after 1 year of use the included bolt on the left is corroded and the hardware store bolt looks new.

3. Poor quality front mounting screws. You can see the 4 rusting screws in the picture. These are designed to be exposed to weather, so I was surprised to find rust forming after the first few weeks.

4. Poor quality attachment point for the flat connector. The 4 way slips onto the side of the 7 way mount and is held on by rubber friction. It never stays in place and is always dangling.

One other suggestion is to offer a kit made for the newer wireless brake controllers. It could have less wire, fewer connectors, and cost less.

Because of the above problems I will have to replace the 7 way plug soon. Therefore I gave the product only 2 stars and would not recommend purchasing it.


Thing works as it should. Install on a Ford Excursion requires dropping fuel tank and the factory bolts that hold the OEM hitch are tough to get out. But worth the effort.


This kit would be great if they gave you stainless Screws for the plug. They rusted after like a month. The quality of the connectors is not super high quality feeling either. I love that everything is in one kit and it had both plugs. Installation wasn’t too bad of you know what your doing. I ran the wires in the car instead of zip tying them under the car to protect them better. It seems strange to me there is no cover to go over the circuit breakers and the posts carry 12v exposed.


Converting the 4 way to seven way was straight forward, but the 4 way would not lock in place., either the rubber was to small or the metal bracket to big. It would just fallout a car wash would just rip it off. I had to make bracket to lock it in place. Quality problem


Trailer Brake controller came with everything I needed. I did get a different crimp on wire splice connector. Smaller size and more secure attachment. Also the etrailer video is very helpful for installing the controller. You should make a video for RAV4 Prime, very different with battery in back, and no easy way to run wires forward to brake controller.


Clear instructions. Kit had everything I needed. I did have to drill a hole in the firewall to attach wires to the brake controller, (sealed hole with silicon). Easy install.

Used this Kit on my 2017 JKU with aftermarket steel bumpers. Wired up to the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Nreak Controller. Worked Great!


This is just what I was looking for. I am going to install trailer brakes on my 1989 suburban. I still need to purchase the brake controller. But this will take care of the wiring from the front to the back. This kit appears to be well built. I really like it ! I have another suburban, So I will be purchasing this kit again.


Does not appear to accept the Bargman 7-way connector on our 2021 Casita trailer. My installer did an excellent job, and everything under the car is sealed and tied up nicely. So now I'm facing having to cut off the existing Bargman and replace with an after market connector. Truly a disappointment. In reality my own fault for thinking *anything* is truly *universal*. I should have tested the fit before handing the kit to the installer.

The Bargman connector should be a fit. How is it not fitting? If it seems to be loose or too small, you can use electrical tape and wrap it around the connector to make it thicker.


Probably the nicest most complete kit I've come across (minus the brake controller).
Instructions are detailed enough if your a novice to properly install.

I was a professional mechanic for a time and I highly recommend this kit.

Pick up some extra Zip ties and a good set of crimpers and your good to go. The standard kit was the perfect amount of wire for a 02 tundra, extended cab, 6' bed.


There was nothing wrong with the kit, simply unnecessary. I came across some information that gave me a part number for a wiring harness that replaced an existing one at the back of the truck and worked perfectly with the Redarc tow-pro elite trailer brake controller.


Very straightforward install on our Jeep JKU. Plenty of wire and everything you need for the job. Only dropped it down to 4 stars for 2 reasons: First the provided screws to attach the bracket to the chassis are garbage. Both snapped off in the holes and had to be drilled out adding quite a lot of time and swearing to an otherwise easy job. Secondly the bracket attachment for the 4 pin plug is laughably bad. It is so loose that I am sure it will spend most of its life dangling after it falls off.



Be careful how close the wiring is to the muffler in the rear. Don ask how I discovered this...

    Because proportional brake controllers send power to trailer brakes that is proportional to the braking force applied to the vehicle, the brake pedal can only be tested while the vehicle is moving. The brake controller will send the brakes somewhere between 0V and 3V of power when still, and the manual control will work fine when still.
