Curt Ball Mount for 2" Hitches - 8" Rise, 9-1/4" Drop - 14" Long - 5K

The hitch is exactly as described on etrailer. The drop measured exactly 9-1/4" as I wanted it to be. Curt rounds this measurement up or down to a whole number, 10" in this case. That is way off when you want your trailer and truck towing level are looking for a particular drop. Thankfully etrailer measures these themselves and show you where they are measuring from so you know what hitch to ask for.1722639

I neeed to pull a trailer with my 2019 GMC Yukon. I found Etrailer.com and followed the instructions on determining the drop of the hitch, the instructions were spot on. I hooked up my trailer to my Yukon today, all was level and worked perfectly.

I had driven around to Napa, Lowe’s, Home Depot and Walmart, and nobody had the 9” drop hitch I needed. Came back to Etrailer, bought the 2” ball and pin, and the Curt 9” drop hitch. I received the items quickly.

The quality of this product is fantastic and it assembled with no problems and makes my rv / toad I pull a perfect match. I will continue to do business with (etrailer.com) much more in the future. High quality. Welds are top grade unlike a few of the discount drop hitches. It asl gives me the ability to use my backup camera and assist lines. I needed a good 9 inch drop hitch to pull my enclosed trailer with my 2020 Ford Ranger XLT super cab FX off road. I've got my vintage bike in the back and I needed to trust this hitch for long trips. This is a great ball mount but the product description is incorrect. BUYER BEWARE...THE DESCRIPTION IS INCORRECT. IT CLEARLY STATES 10" DROP RIGHT ON THE BALL MOUNT!1457469

Curt measures rise and differently and they also round to the nearest whole number. We measure rise or from the top of the trailer hitch receiver opening to the top of the ball platform. And we do not round off the numbers.

Biggest issue is that NO ONE warns a potential purchaser of FIT! Tolerances matter. First time I used this ball mount I couldn't believe rattling. I have a 5x8 enclosed trailer and was pulling with my Explorer. Had to deliver a piece of furniture 17miles away for repair. I last 3miles was down a gravel road and OH my God, I slowed to a crawl, but still thought I was going to destroy my factory installed receiver. Called Curt and they had me get calipers to measure the receiver opening to the thousandths of an inch! And yes, there was too much difference between receiver and ball mount shaft! If I would have been apprised of this issue I'd certainly done some pre-purchase measuring. You can buy ball mounts at any auto store, or Walmart even and there is NO warning of this issue!!! Curt sent an anti-rattle fitting to me. Yes, they know about this issue. It helps some but is not perfect. It helps to minimize horizontal movement but not so much on vertical. But better than before. Ironically, the ball mount pins I bought from e-trailer and reviewed above can't be used with the anti-rattle fitting! So, there was some money [thrown] away. Lastly, I've had ball mounts before for other vehicles and NEVER had a rattling problem. Probably because I had everything installed at a trailer retailer. And none of the ball mounts I had were extremely heavy. This Curt ball mount is very very heavy. I did need a greater drop for my Explorer and existing trailer, and maybe over shot by one inch. But this thing could be used a great weapon.700116

Due to COVID travel restrictions and health issues we have not been able to actually use the ball mount. It was a perfect fit for our motorhome to auto trailer and the trailer was level with this extended hitch. Some day we will actually use it...992210
