Fast, Easy Hookup

This Roadmaster tow bar has a large hookup radius to ensure simple, secure hookup. What this means is that, even if your towed car is not perfectly aligned with your RV, you will still be able to make the necessary connections. To achieve this, the Falcon has stainless steel, telescopic inner arms that adjust independently. In addition, these arms are able to pivot in and out, changing the spread. So, if your car is angled a bit behind your RV, you'll still be able to hook up by bringing the arms closer together and staggering the length so that 1 arm is longer than the other, allowing it to reach the more distant base plate.

The fact that the arms are extra-long also allows for a better turning radius. By putting more distance between your motorhome and your towed car, your entire setup will become easier to maneuver so that your towed car will track behind your motorhome without running the risk of hitting your RV during turns.


When using EZ, EZ2, EZ4, XL, or Classic base plates, you will need the Quick Disconnect crossbar assembly (910021-00 - sold separately). The quick-disconnects make it a snap to attach the tow bar to your vehicle. Other methods require you to maneuver each tow bar arm individually and perfectly line up tabs on the arms with tabs on your base plates. Roadmaster's unique design lets you connect and disconnect the tow bar quickly and easily, all by yourself.

The quick-disconnect brackets come in separate pieces. The pieces that are positioned on the ends of each tow bar arm interlock with matching brackets that attach to your Roadmaster base plates. Sandwiched between the tow bar arms is a sturdy crossbar that essentially turns the arms into a single structure. This crossbar allows you to lower the tow bar as a single piece onto the quick-disconnect brackets on your towed car so that you don't have to connect each arm separately. When lowering the tow bar onto the brackets, make sure that the tab on each bracket lines up with the hole in the matching bracket. Then just insert the linch pins through the holes in the tabs on top to secure the brackets together. To remove the tow bar, simply remove the pins and lift the tow bar off of the brackets. These convenient brackets also make it simple to mount any number of Roadmaster accessories, from basic safety cables to the Guardian rock shield.


If you have MS, MX, or EZ5 base plates, the arms will connect directly to the base plates. Just remove the quick-disconnect brackets from the ends of the arms and you will be left with lugs that fit into the base plate brackets. Once the lugs are set inside of the brackets, simply insert the included pins to secure them in place.

Non-Binding for Simple Disconnect

Freedom Latch

The Freedom Latch makes disconnecting this tow bar a breeze. This latch makes it easy to release the tension that can build up in a telescoping arm when the RV and towed car are not perfectly lined up. Just flip the latch to release the pressure, and the arms will be able to telescope freely, making it easy to disconnect the tow bar from the base plates. This allows you to disconnect even when you're at a hard angle or out of level.

This Falcon All-Terrain tow bar has been subjected to rigorous physical and computerized testing to ensure that it meets Roadmaster's exceptionally high standards. Throughout the design process, Finite Elemental Analysis (FEA) is done. Each of these tests display a 3-dimensional image of the tow bar while it is put under thousands of pounds of pressure. Areas of stress in the tow bar can then be located and studied so that those areas can be strengthened. This process is repeated until any weak spots, particularly those found in load-bearing components, are completely removed. The result is a durable, strong, and safe product.

Storage Process

After disconnecting the tow bar from your towed vehicle, collapse the arms and push them together so that they are side by side. Then fold the arms up toward the RV and the storage latch will automatically engage to hold the tow bar in place.

Guide to Flat Towing

Flat towing your vehicle is much more convenient than using a trailer or a tow dolly. These other options take up much more storage space, leaving you less room both at home and at the campsite. In addition, securing your vehicle to a trailer or tow dolly can be a hassle and more time consuming than hooking up with a tow bar.

There are 5 basic components needed when flat towing a vehicle: a tow bar, a base plate kit, a safety cable set, tow bar wiring, and a supplemental braking system.

FlatTowing Components

The tow bar links your towed car to your motorhome. It attaches to the custom-fit base plates that install on the frame of your towed car. Safety cables ensure that your towed car does not separate from your motorhome in the event that your tow bar becomes detached. Tow bar wiring allows your towed vehicle's signal lights to sync up with your motorhome's tail lights, which is required by law in most states. Finally, the supplemental braking system - also required in most states - brakes your towed car when the brakes in your motorhome are activated, preventing wear on the motorhome and decreasing braking distance for your entire setup.

Very happy with my Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain tow bar, baseplate and high low hitch. Great service from etrailer, great company! Going on my first trip in a couple weeks! Took about 4 or 5 hours to install. Great instructions, the videos were very helpful!


This thing is so easy to use. I like that you don’t have to be on a level surface to hook up.


This tow bar works well for the most part. It is not all that "non-binding" and I carry a hammer and a heavy punch to hammer out the hitch pins when they are "bound" which happens about 40% of the time. I have towed my Jeep Wrangler for two thousand miles over some rough terrain in Baja Mexico without any problems. This is a heavy piece and awkward to slide into place in your hitch. If you have a bad back look elsewhere.

You mentioned that the arms are binding up when in use. I wanted to ask a few follow-up questions. How uneven is the surface when the arms bind? Would be possible to send a picture?

Binding has occurred on level pavement, level gravel and level sand as well as sloped and uneven surfaces. Next time it happens I will take a picture.

Really like this all terrain tow bar. Pulling a 2018 Ford F150 with it. Cross bar is not needed with my base plates. Would be better if bar could be purchased without it. Seems like a big heavy piece to pay for when it isn't needed.


Works great. Easy to attach with the unlocking arms. I wish the channels for wire and safety cables were bigger. I ran my taillight cord through and couldn’t fit the safety cables in with it. Guess it’s one or the other.


This thing rocks. Yes, it is a little expensive, but I have been able to hookup and unhook in really tight spots, on hilly terrain, etc. with absolutely no fuss.


We have towed our Jeep almost 2,000 miles since installing the recommended parts from etrailer and it has worked perfectly on every connect and disconnect along the way. Tows beautifully, even at 70 mph.

Excellent customer service and helpful videos from these folks. Would recommend to anyone needing help with parts and guidance in towing their toad to give them a call.

Our system is still working perfectly a year later. Our Jeep is a 2018 Cherokee Trailhawk and while we’ve seen some RV forums talk about “death wobble”, we have never experienced this using these Roadmaster products towbar & baseplate. We tow the Jeep with our 39’ Class A gasser and hardly know its back there. Even on sharp corners the Jeep follows perfectly and no binding. Connecting or disconnecting takes maybe 5 – 7 minutes. Then check all of our lights, make sure the Jeep is in neutral wbrakes off and we’re on our way. The braking system that we installed purchased from etrailer is the “Stay-n-Play Duo”. I would recommend that to anyone looking for easy operation. The installation time was a bit lengthy and involved but once completed makes all of your towing trips much easier. Just the flip of a switch and the braking system is ready for towing. No portable unit to lug around and adjust each time you tow your vehicle. The etrailer folks made the perfect recommendations for our needs and everything has worked GREAT!

Very durable and as advertised and received from etrailer on time. However, I am installing this on a Jeep Cherokee using the direct method so I dont need the crossbar. Roadmaster should sell this tow bar with or without the crossbar. I now have a very heavy piece of equipment (in a separate box) I will never use. One of the security clips for the connecting pin is defective (bent) so I will be looking for a replacement already tomorrow.

Product has worked as advertised the past year without a hitch not literally. After hooking & unhooking what seems like over 100 times this past year... you get to know exactly what to do to make it easy. Very happy with our purchase.

This item is great, saved our Jeep. Had the hitch on with the Jeep and got rear ended. The hitch absorbed most of the hit and the Jeep was relatively unscathed. The hitch was bent like a pretzel but it still held together the Rv and the Jeep. The bar was bent beyond saving so I called Etrailer and they sent me a new one within two days so our vacation was not ruined.

We use this Roadmaster tow bar to pull our 2013 Honda CRV. It is a heavy duty and well built tow bar perfect for towing a vehicle the size of a CRV.


have my 3rd motor home now and I had a falcon a/t before. A great tow bar to pull my Jeep Liberty. Ordering was easy and product was delivered when the people at etrailer said it would be.great company and product. I ordered more things 2 days later.Tow bar is easy to hook up and unhook even when you are on uneven ground.

This was part of many Roadmaster components I ordered from to set up my 2014 Honda CRV as a toad. Etrailer's website is excellent and their review videos and installation videos are very helpful. Their tech service department is excellent as well.

I researched tow bars thoroughly before choosing the Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain. Both Roadmaster and Blue Ox have excellent customer service departments and answered many questions before I decided to go with Roadmaster. The reason is simply my preference to have the extra stability of the cross bar and for future mounting of the Guardian rock shield. The Blue Ox tow bars are simpler because of no crossbar and that is nice and clean. But I like extra assurance and beefiness on the lateral torsion forces when towing. Just my preference.

The Falcon unit is well made and heavy. The channels on the sides allow a neat installation of the wiring harness and safety cables. Pulls my Honda CRV with no noise and easy to hook and unhook. I would recommend this product to anyone.


Had it installed by my RV Service guy, and it’s worked great for us in towing our Jeep Cherokee with the Roadmaster Falcon 2 towing system!


It is fussy to connect to the towed vehicle. Each connection point has three fingers that fit around the two fingers on each of the towed vehicle connection pins. If you have locking pins (must be purchased separately) you have to hold the the arm in place to keep it from falling out while holding the pin in one hand and the key/lock in the other which requires a certain amount of technique. Be careful when removing the pins (locking or otherwise) because when one pin is removed, when the second pin is removed the tow bar falls to the ground and if your foot is under it, it's going to hurt. Make sure your feet are clear in case it falls out of your hand. The connection at the Y joint is very stiff and difficult to separate the arms. My wife needs me to do it for her. When not in use it can be stowed by raising it and lowering it to either side and stored in a nearly horizontal position. The pins do not require a key to be removed. You must purchase them separately. Since my towed vehicle must have a key in the ignition to unlock the steering, it is necessary to prevent the vehicles from becoming separated without a key.

Worked great on our maiden voyage of less than 50 miles! Super easy to connect and disconnect, no jamming!

One small complaint: the pins that attach the arms to the towed vehicle's base plate have a tension against the ring that "should" hold them in place and prevent them from popping out ... but they don't feel very secure and in fact feel kind of flimsy. Not flimsy in that it looks like the pins will break easily, but the tension ring doesn't seem to do much, vs a regular trailer pin clip.


Quick to connect / disconnect. Clean installation/storage, eliminates possibility of sparks from dragging chains.


The telephone support was excellent. I can't rate the product since it hasn't been installed yet.


We have now flat-towed our 2021 Jeep Wrangler across country twice and many trips around town taking the RV to the shop. The RoadMaster system is great and easy to use!


I want to thank everybody from very good communications. The D ring bumper mount and the roadmaster diode 7 wire to 6 wire wiring harness they said it would take 4 to 6 weeks for it to come in and It only took two weeks.


Great towbar. Easy to install and disconnect. The non-binding is great to have as the surface is not always level when you need to disconnect.

    The length of the shank on the Roadmaster Falcon Tow Bar part # RM-522 that you referenced is designed so that it would extend past a square bumper like what is commonly found at the rear of an RV. Since a bumper mounted spare is designed to mount basically right above the rear bumper of an RV this tow bar shouldn't interfere with the rear mounted spare at all.     Tow bars in general are not easily released when on an incline or at an angle. It's just the nature of how they work. The angles and inclines bind the bars up of the tow bar in the base plate kit and make the components hard to release. The release mechanism of the Falcon # RM-522 does relieve a great deal of the pressure but nothing will be easier to disconnect from than if the flat towing setup is sitting perfect straight on level ground.

    The Roadmaster Falcon 2 part # RM-520 is a very popular tow bar and most likely what you had. I'd recommend you go with the Falcon All Terrain # RM-522 instead though as this will be easier to connect/disconnect due to the non-binding arms that will release tension from binding.
