With no need for welding, you can have it secured in your RAV4 in as little as 10 minutes, according to many happy users. It's perfect for those weekend DIY projects or last-minute towing arrangements.

Built to Withstand the Elements: Powder-Coated Steel

Is corrosion resistance a priority for you? The powder-coated steel of this hitch offers superior rust resistance, ensuring your hitch remains durable and reliable through all seasons. This tough coating stands up to the harshest elements, making it a long-lasting addition to your vehicle.

Ready for All Your Towing Needs: 4,000 lbs GTW and 400 lbs TW

Looking to maximize your vehicle's towing capabilities? Rated at a robust 4,000 lbs gross trailer weight and 400 lbs tongue weight, this hitch doesn't just meet the minimum—they exceed them, allowing you to tackle a wide range of towing tasks, from small trailers to bike racks.

Seamless Compatibility and Versatility: Custom Fit Design

Forget about compatibility headaches. With its custom fit for Toyota RAV4s from 1996 to 2005, this hitch integrates effortlessly. Its 2-inch receiver size opens the door to a vast array of accessories, broadening your vehicle's utility far beyond towing, including options like bike racks and cargo carriers.

Effortless Bike Rack Installation: Generous Clearance

Stop struggling with installation space! Users report generous clearance with their rear-mounted spare tire on the RAV4, with 10 inches from the hitch pin to the spare. This makes pairing with bike racks straightforward, ensuring you don't need extensions that decrease capacity or cause stability issues.

Unmatched Strength and Precision: Robotically Welded for Maximum Strength

This trailer hitch doesn't just depend on any welds; it boasts precision robotic welding, enhancing its strength and long-term performance. This attention to detail ensures it fits perfectly and functions optimally, standing up to whatever road challenges come your way.

The hitch arrived in 3 days and installed in 15 minutes. It could not have been easier.

by:

The hitch was so easy to install! Plus, I ended up ordering a bike rack and another hitch later in the day and they noticed that I had made two orders and shipped both together. It was great! Plus, the team emailed me to ensure I received everything and had a great experience. Wonderful customer service!!!

Quick delivery, met all of my expectations. Would purchase additional products without any reservations.

Very quick, simple installation - Toyota takes the credit for this however. Gloss finish looks thick, welds look solid. I chose this over the Drawtite-Cequent class III because the safety hooks are on the bottom out of the way of the car's back door, and to save a few bucks.
...However, with the ball mount installed, the door trim still hits lightly when opening/closing unless you want to grid a little off the top upsweeping edge of the ball mount.

Installation notes:
- 17mm to remove the tow hook.
- 19mm to install the bolts provided by Curt.
- Rest the hitch on something as close to installation height as possible.
- Put in the forward-most bolts first (looking from the back of the car), it is cramped quarters on the right side in the bend of the tailpipe that makes it hard to get the bolt started.

Incredible hitch from an awesome supplier! The hitch was not only supper easy to self install on my daughters 2000 Rav 4 but was also made very well. We used it to pull our jet ski from Ca all the way to Al during our last move a year ago. Since then we have used it several times for bike racks and a small camping storage trailer. It has held up great and still looks like it did when we first installed it. Etrailer.com had great pricing and I felt they one of the most reputable online dealers after looking into several. The hitch was shipped out quickly with great customer support. I will definitely be using them for any trailer or hitch needs in the future. I highly recommend etrailer for any of your trailer needs. ( the first two photos are of when I first installed it and we did the big move cross country. the second two are photos of the hitch now 1 year later.)

Jasmine at etrailer.com was super helpful in helping me decide what trailer hitch to attach to my 2005 Toyota Rav4 to hook up a bike rack for a North American Road Trip. She made me feel confident in my decision to purchase the Curt hitch and now that it is installed I am more than happy with my purchase. Installation took about 10 minutes and the hitch seems very rugged and am looking forward to using it for many years to come. Thanks again!

1997 Toyota RAV4

Great quality receiver hitch! Came packaged up real nice. Dropped 4 bolts and bolted it back up. Super easy straightforward install! Trailer rental place wanted about $80 more and that wasn't including the wiring. I did have to trim plastic where door opens up but that was a breeze with a razor blade...

by:

Big fan of the curt hitches, and etrailer does them the best! This particular one literally took me less than 10 min. To install with an impact and removing the factory tow hooks.

This is the 2nd time I've purchased a hitch from etrailer.com and has been an excellent experience. Joshua reached out to me to see if I wanted to swap out a similar product that is currently in stock and shipped immediately. Received the products quickly and the instruction videos made my DIY project a cinch. I will definitely continue to shop hear when in need of trailer supplies.

Should have been a 10 minute job but the product bolt spacing is incorrect. Waste of time and energy. Will pursue a return.

by:

We just installed this hitch. The service was excellent. We we're notified all along the way. Pricing was very good also. We will definitely use etrailer again.

High quality material with rust-resistant coating/paint. Perfect fit for my vehicle. Reasonable price, free shipping and very fast service. Website well organized, easy to find what I was looking for. Fantastic experience!

Looks and feels well made. Easy install, under 20 min. Includes mounting hardware.

by:

The hitch worked perfectly for my vehic le.

by:

Parts arrived late by three days due to winter storms. The package was damaged and did not fit as the mounting brackets had a slight bend. I had to use a porta power to spread apart to line up the holes. The hitch looked of good quality and the finish paint looks like it will last. The wiring kit also ordered plugged right in. Nice

The hitch is well built and works well, I do have the problem of using the rear door as is is not usable when I have a trailer hooked up, I was thinking of. Ordering an extension bar and a coupler stabilizer because of the ambience noise from inside. I have a friend who bought one of these and it minimized the inside noise.

A hitch extension, like the Curt Hitch Extender for 2 Inch Hitches # C45791, will help push your ball mount and trailer coupler back a few inches and may allow you to open your rear door a bit further than what it can with your current setup. Keep in mind that using a hitch extension like this will reduce the capacity of your trailer hitch by 50 percent because of the extra component being added and the distance the load is being pushed back. If you are experiencing noise due to movement of the hitch, an anti-rattle device like the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch # RM-061 is a great option to keep your ball mount from banging around inside the hitch receiver.

The hitch looks great. Haven't installed it yet tho. It has some paint rubbed off to bare metal in a few places so I'm going to shoot it with some gloss black enamel first to hold off corrosion for awhile.

We see this happen from time to time with hitches. They are shipped in large pallets to us and it can be tough to deliver them without any imperfections. Painting it with the gloss black enamel paint is a good idea.

by:

This product is the easiest to install and extremely well constructed. I never have installed anything as easy as this was. I also was extremely impressed that a video was also sent to me on how to install.

by:

Overall it was good experience. The products (trailer hitch, towing kit and wiring harness) arrived in a few days without issue. Thanks! There was product shifting in the box, but there was no damage. Hitch installation was generally as described in the videos I watched before purchase. The wiring harness instructions were for a generation two RAV4. I have a generation 1. However, the connectors were an exact fit and I was able to figure out the installation with a little patience and care not to damage car parts. For the hitch install, it was good advice to point out that dirt and grime would be present in the threaded bolt holes on the car. The bolt threads are fine and easy to cross-thread. Compressed air as recommended and additional WD40 worked. There is no information or resource listed to determine the torque for the bolts. The only mention is to torque the bolts to the recommended specifications. It would help to provide the ft-lbs or link a place to find it.

by:

I have had no problems at all with this product. I ordered it for a reason, the price was reasonable, and installation was no problem. (my brother installed it for me). And it's performed exactly how I expected! I tow my jet ski with it on my little Rav 4 and it does the job perfectly! I would definitely recommend Curt Trailer Hitches!!

by:
2004 Toyota RAV4

I had an initial difficulty at installation due to holes that didn't exactly match up, I didn't know to look for on-line videos that may have helped with that. I did use the videos for the wiring installation and that worked perfectly, I could not have figured it out without the videos. For my 2004 Rav4 the big caveat is that with the hitch and tongue/ball installed you cannot open the rear door. I have learned to deal with this limitation but I find it disingenuous that this is not made clear from the get-go.

by:
2004 Toyota RAV4

Your product makes me look like a Professional. WOW, under 10 min to install. 2nd to None. Thank you for an American product.

by:
2004 Toyota RAV4

Fit my 2004 Rav4 L AWD perfectly! However, when I open my rear door, the hitch receiver is right in the middle, and sticks out enough to bash my shins. Also, depending on what I put in the hitch, it can interfere with my rear door opening, and closing. I don't think it could be designed differently to avoid this, so I still give it five stars. Very happy to now have a hitch!

  • Kuat Bike Rack for 2004 Toyota RAV4 That Can Clear Rear Spare
Hey Greg, so the hitches that we offer for your 2004 Toyota RAV4 like the Curt # C13524 have a distance of 10 inches from their hitch pin hole out to the furthest point out on the rear spare. So you need a hitch bike rack that has at least 10 inches from it's hitch pin hole to the nearest bike tray. The Kuat NV Base part # BA22B would work for this as it has this distance at 11-3/4 inches. The Kuat Transfer V2 part # KU84FR does not have quite the clearance needed as-is but I wouldn't...
