This Curt starter kit includes a fixed ball mount that gives you both a 3/4" rise and a 2" drop, so you can match your trailer height for a level, stable tow. The 7-1/2" long shank fits standard 2" x 2" receivers, keeping your setup balanced and easy to line up every time.
Instead of hunting down parts one by one, this kit comes with everything you need to start towing. You get a pre-torqued 2" chrome-plated hitch ball, a pin and clip, a locking hitch receiver lock with keys, a rubber hitch cover, and even a sturdy storage case to keep it all together. When you hook up a trailer, knowing your gear can handle the load brings peace of mind. This setup is rated for 7,500 lbs gross towing weight and 750 lbs tongue weight. The locking pin does not fit my hitch receiver. It is too short, does not allow locking head to attach. Other than that product seems solid. Wish I just bought the ball and mount and didn't waste $ buying the kit.

I'm sorry that the hitch pin in this kit didn't work out for you. It sounds like the hitch receiver tube is thicker than average, which is causing the pin to be too short. It's something that we commonly see with OEM Toyota hitch receivers. You'll need a longer hitch pin like the InfiniteRule Hitch Lock for 2" Toyota Tacoma Hitches part # IR75FR that is specifically designed to sit flush to Toyota hitches.
Great Product! It says 'Curt Towing Starter Kit for 2" Hitches - 2" Ball - 3/4" Rise, 2" Drop - 7.5K", but on the item itself there is no mention of a 3/4" rise.....is it, or not?

Hey neighbor! I just went out and double checked and the packaging will only list the 2" drop, but the ball mount itself does list both drop and rise information. If you do need to flip it to the rise position, make sure to torque the ball to 250 foot lbs.
I normally keep a complete towing set in my automobiles and needed a new set for my wife's car. After some research, I decided to go with the Curt Towing Starter Kit. The quality is excellent and every aspect of the hitch and lock worked flawlessly. I can highly recommend this Curt starter kit to anyone needing a complete receiver hitch kit. Thanks once again!!

It’s been a year since purchasing this great Curt towing set. This car has a mobility lift installed, so I only keep the kit handy if towing is required. In the past year, I have not had to tow anything with this vehicle and the set has been stored safely in the case it came with and is still essentially new. Nice towing set!

It has worked amazingly. Haven’t had not one problem. Been pulling several different length trailers with no problems.
Very happy with hitch and components, came in a nice tray that I use to store and organize the parts when not in use in the back compartment of my Telluride. All good.

Great fit and finish on this kit. So nice to be able to tow things with my Forester now. I thought I had an issue but figured out it was user error pretty quick, but only after I contacted etrailer for help. I heard back within 30 minutes of emailing and by that time I figured out my blunder. They were extremely helpful and responsive and were set on fixing the problem I thought I had. I have used etrailer for several different purchases over the past couple years and every time I have been thrilled with the service and the quality of product.

There were some UPS delivery issues, damaged in shipment. But, etrailer.com jumped right on sending out another shipment after it was apparent that UPS would not complete the delivery.
The installation took longer, maybe 1-1/2 hours, because I did not have all my tools ready and I was working on the concrete floor in the dark to outside with a portable shop light. Everything fit well and it looks great.
The 2" drop ball mount was the perfect height for my 2019 Toyota Highlander Hybrid. I love the look of the Curt black insert that makes the hitch looks like it belongs on the car, nothing embarrassing at all.
Anything negative? Maybe. The flat plate was a little difficult to hook onto with the UHaul safety chains on a 5x8 trailer. That's hardly a negative, though, and I wouldn't have spent more on another brand choice because of this. Happy happy!

Smooth connection, got me started in trailer town right away! Everything I would’ve wanted. The lock bar is a nice touch.
I have not used it yet. Some questions the new hitch is shorter.
I have a 2020 outback with a Curt receiver hitch
The old hitch stick out of the back of the receiver the new hitch is
about a 1” short of the end of the receiver does that effect the strength
of the system.
I need to put the ball on the other side, what torque does the ball and nut
need?

Excellent quality! However I would like to see the safety-chain loops a half inch larger. With the receiver "ell" pin installed you have to fiddle with the chain hook to get it through the loops. Not fun in the pouring rain!

Had to replace the 2 inch due to the fact Jeep Wrangler Unlimited needs a 4 inch to keep trailer level and clear spare tire mount. Curt products are outstanding,welds and paint finish lasts.etrailer customer service went out of their way to take care of me. Kudos to Sherry for her assistance!
