The installation kit contained everything I needed to install my new roof vent. I only used about half of the tape and less than a full tube of sealant. Happy trails!

by:

Its Great brand I had in my intech explore. I've had it for a year now in my 2021 winnebago and unfortunately the bearing is somewhat noisy. Definitely dont think it's going to hold up boondocking. Maybe theres a difference from the white unit I have now than the black that was in my intech explore.

Ordered the Vent Installation kit, as well as the vent, to install on an older 6x12 enclosed cargo trailer. The kit is exactly what is needed for a waterproof, clean installation. Butyl tape between the vent bracket and the trailer, then self-leveling sealant over the screws and the perimeter of the bracket-trailer seam. Screws to mount the vent and the decorative trim were also included. I made due with one tube of caulk, but can understand some installs would need two. Same with the butyl tape - used less than 1/2.

Of note - first set of butyl tape arrived having been mangled in shipping. etrailer.com were great about immediately sending out a replacement, no questions asked. Great service

A year later, trailer still dry inside!!

by:

Good replacement. Has held up well. Replaced on a metal roof and original was riveted down so a little harder to install, but doable.

by:

Worked as expected, enough left over to use for a second fan installation.

by:

Great service & great products! Thanks

by:

More than enough tape and caulking to install two 14" x 14" roof vents. Worked well.

by:

The sealant is difficult to apply smooth and straight but that should be expected with this type of joint design. The etrailer videos helped with the process. The trick is to carefully apply the sealant where it is needed and do minimal tooling to smooth and fill gaps. No product data sheet is apparently available to understand how to work with the sealant or to provide preparation recommendations, cure times, and safety considerations. No success with locating the product data on the internet or the manufacturer's site. The butyl tape should be shipped flat or attached to a flat sheet of cardboard. When I opened the box it was molded into to a taco shape and had to be set out overnight to creep back into a flat roll. I did not use the carbon steel self tapping screws.

Comments
No problems with the installed products.
Jeff - 07/17/2020

by:

Perfect except I ordered 3 to put in 3 roof vents, used less than 1 roll of the putty tape and 1 1/2 tubes of silicone. Should have bought 1 and picked up extra screws for other 2.

Vents are still leak proof

Have never had any issues with ordering anything from etrailer! When it comes time to update items on our Motorhome I always think of etrailer, items ordered shipped in a timely manor and arrive in excellent condition!

by:

Received my Maxx Fan and roof vent kit on Monday 6/17/19 right on time and everything was their and in good condition. I installed the Maxx Fan on my 2017 GMC cargo van the same day, took me a little longer than I thought it would but not bad for a 74 year old guy. I watched the videos that etrailer had on their site and some other [videos] and that really helped for a first time doing this type of install. I had the wiring ready to go and the fan worked great, thanks etrailer for the fast service and a great price on the Maxx Fan.

Comments
The Maxx Fan are great, I have two of them that I installed on my camper van because I have no extra windows to open for air. They are both wired up to a house battery that charges from the vans alternator as I drive or can be charged with a battery charger. E Trailer has great videos on installs of a lot of their products and are a great help. Love my Maxx Fans and would install them again.

I’m very happy with this product . Tha nk

by:

Instructions were good and more than enough sealer to do the job.

by:

Received the items and were packaged well. My husband spent the morning inserting the new vent and works properly and installed. He was pleased with the quality.

by:

Everything I needed was in the kit. Plus plenty of extra screws. The butyl tape is an awesome product. First time using it. The two tubes of sealer applied easily and leveled out nice. Professional looked job. The extra I had left over I resealed my solar panel and every seam on my roof.

Comments
The installation kit did the job and is holding up great after a year. I didn’t need to use both tubes of a TRIM on the vent. I used the other tube to reseal the roof top antenna, vents and seals on my 5th wheel. The extra Butyl is handy to have also. I used some of to stop a windshield leak on my car.
Robert - 04/25/2020

by:

Worked great and still in great shape after a year of service.

by:

This made replacing my roof vent very easy.
The order arrived quickly and everything promised was in the box. They supplied enough sealant to have leftover. The corners of the vent were not padded enough during shipping and were a little bent. It was not a problem straightening them, but it’s not something I should have to do.
The supplied screws are a little small compared to the original vent screws I removed and the interior trim screws were cheap slotted screws. I had to reuse the old screws on the interior and some of the exterior.

by:

great. but didn't need two tubes of the sealant. One is more than sufficient for a 14 x 14 vent.

Comments
Perfect. No leaks.

Comments
Ruffin installed very easily direct replacement to what I had had a lot of extra stuff though extra tube of caulk and an extra roll of caulking other than that very pleased no leaks installed as it should

It arrived as promised and it looks gre at!

Our first travel trailer, 30-years old but it has some easy issues to fix. Hubby went to eTrailer.com and found almost everything we need. One phone call later and we had the parts on the way.
Love, love, love the installation videos, installation instructions and wiring help videos as we have no clue what to do with two black wires - LOL
Off on our travels in a few weeks and we'll be seen and safe on the road.
Thanks to all the wonderful ladies in Sales and Customer Service

by:

Good quality and nothing missing so we could complete the job.

by:

dicor And butyl tape are the only thing I use on my RV I try to stay clear of silicone if it's going to be in the sun. Products were as advertised

Easy to use effective and inexpensive doesn't get any better than that[thumbs up]
Never go back to the RV store locally the markup is horrendous.

by:

This is a great replacement vent fan for my 2006 [email protected] Reversible air flow and three speeds. Real power too. Installation was a snap thanks to etrailer videos. Thanks once again guys!

by:

After calling many dealerships to try and get a specific part (and not getting an answer or call back) I called etrailer and spoke with Pat (immediately). I told her what I needed and she knew exactly the correct part. She shipped it out the same day! I will definitely be a customer for life and have already recommended etrailer to my friends! Excellent customer service!!!

  • Where to Apply Caulk When Installing Trailer Roof Vent
You would want to run a bead of the sealant around the vent opening on the underside of the mounting flange as shown in red on the photo I edited for you. Put the vent into place, pressing firmly so that the sealer spreads to the area around the mounting holes so that they are sealed when the vent is screwed into place.

Since your aluminum sides are separating, I recommend using the Installation Kit with Screws and Sealant # 344270KITW to seal the siding from water and also secure it in place with the screws. Yes. Both the FV801200 and # FV801250 are designed to fit in 14-1/4" x 14-1/4" roof cutouts, so you'll be able to swap out your existing fan for the # FV801250 without any issues. This comes with the needed screws and all of the sealant you'd need. It is not likely but possible for rain to get into the vent when it is open. The outer lid overlaps the lower housing so water would have to come in sideways (if parked level) for it to get in. Also if the trailer is parked on an incline, the angle required to enter in the vent would not be as severe so you just have to plan accordingly. Yes, you could use the Ventline vent # VP-543SP in a truck bed camper shell if you wanted.
