Lots of butyl tape and the 2 tubes of caulk were plenty to get the job done!

Glad we had what you needed, Mike! What did you install this on?

by:

Takes longer to get old sealer off than it does to install maxxmini fan. This is second one that I replaced original exhaust fan in my RV.
Sealer works great, never had a leak with any thing I have sealed with it.

Looks great, Roy! Thanks for sharing the finished project :)

The original powered roof vent was destroyed by hail. The replacement unit arrived quickly and was a perfect fit. Removal of the old one wasn’t too hard, and installing the new one went smoothly. It looks and works great. etrailer is a good company to do business with. I have ordered a variety of criticsl parts from them and have been satisfied with products and service. I’ll be back after the next hail storm.

So happy to hear this, Larry! Thanks for sticking with us for so long :) Hopefully there won't be another hail storm too soon!

by:

I bought this kit for two reasons. I wanted to get the extras needed to install my new roof vent. Second, I wanted to have expert help just a phone call or email away. With this kit the etrailer guys would know what I had and how it should work. I didn't need the screws. The butyl tape and caulk provide was more than enough with enough in case you have to reapply the sticky stuff.

by:

My order arrived quickly as expected. Everything worked as I tgought it should and I installed the new roof vent without any trouble. It's likely as much about being thorough and following instructions as it is about the quality of the product, but so far, no leaks.

by:

As usual, my order arrived quickly and complete. I paid 15% more over a nationwide RV chainstore because time and time again etrailer has proved to be a better value. The Maxxfan 5100 and installation kit required only a couple of hours to install. Most of the time was spent erecting a safe support system to get on the roof of my teardrop trailer.

by:

Everythings great except the butyl tape. It was smashed badly. I hope i have enough usable to complete the job.

Oh gosh, I hate it when it shows up like that. Was there enough usable tape for what you needed?

by:

Everything needed to do replacement of Fantastic roof vent, one year later still holding and and not leaking. The only problem is the other vent looks old and tired compared to the new one!

Hopefully the other one will hold on strong even if it does look a little old compared to your new one, Stephen!

by:

Great kit and necessary for proper inst allation.

by:

Worked great for the installation of my new roof vent.

by:

Outstanding service. Could actually talk to a person when an issue arose with shipping. Have used eTrailer for years and they never disappoint!

by:

Cutting a new hole in the roof of my rig for a new/better vent can sometimes be challenging. The materials and hints were invaluable. And . . . . . "Look Mom, no leaks."

by:

All the items needed to install my new roof vent in one package!

by:

Great products! plenty of Calk to do the job, and more. Love the fast shipping.

by:

Excellent customer service!

by:

Nozzles were damaged but I think they’ll be fine. These were a replacement for sealant tubes that were damaged/leaking.

by:

I just received the two vents that I ordered. I haven’t had the opportunity to install them yet so I’ll let you know when I get to that point.

by:

Just what I needed to complete the fan installation

by:

I bought this kit to make my roof vent install water tight. The butyl tape and self leveling sealant were exactly what was needed. The kit comes with two sets of screws (which weren’t included with the roof vent), however I didn’t use them as one set was slotted (flathead vice Phillips) and the other (better) were hex head/slotted. I prefer Robertson (square drive) screws and that is what is stock on this trailer so that’s what I used. I would have given 5 stars if the screws that came with the kit were better quality (i.e. weren’t slotted). Regardless, there is no doubt it is water tight. Good kit.

by:

The tape and caulk were great, however the screws were useless. 1” long, only made for wood. Not long enough to penetrate anything. A better description on exactly what I was getting would have been better, I would have bought everything separately. Instead we had to travel 35 minutes to the nearest store and buy them and finish the installation on the dark.

by:

Product is great. Only gave 4 stars cause I need time to see how it's going to hold up on the horse trailer and hopefully not leak.

by:

Great replacement and easy installment.

by:

The right stuff in the proper quantity

by:

This kit is mostly complete. The only thing missing is a guy to get up on the roof of my camper who can use a heat gun to soften all of the old sealant and yank out the old vent. Seriously, the kit has everything I’ll need to install the new vent.

We have spoken to Fan-Tastic Vent about this issue in the past, and they have confirmed that there are no replacement remotes available for the 6500 model as it's no longer in production.
