This roof vent allows air to circulate in motor homes and enclosed trailers, keeping interiors ventilated without compromising security. Flat, low-profile metal vent cover opens and closes from inside with a hand-operated crank.received today. since there are no broken parts (plastic) I will just bend everything back in place. there was no packing in the box and the product comes in contact with the side of the box the conveyor bent the edges that screw to the roof. both covers were damaged in the same way. there is 4" for the product to move in the cardboard box no wonder that the plastic survived the trip. some on up there is looking out for etrailer and me. no screws to fasten it to the roof and no mastic to seal but what do you expect. I will buy another when this one rusts out. got to be better than the plastic covers which last about 3 years. 581253
Great price quick service fits great much better than the plastic one that was there 603293
The metal cap was the right size to replace the old plastic cap however the frame was not. A little Mcgiver ingenuity I was able to get top in using old parts. This trailer was in the boonies and this year I will have to take apart and cut new frame to use the new frame that came with metal top. 572415
Arrived in good shape and we were pleased with the quality of this unit. The biggest challenge, of course, is removing the old skylight and all the sealant, but once that was accomplished the installation went forward without any trouble. We like the metal cover because the last two plastic covers have disintegrated after a number of years. 647829
Pleased with customer service and the roof vent purchased. Easy to understand instructions during install process. Only wish ptoduct was also available in white finish. 561355
I like that it's made of aluminum and it was easy to install on the roof of my trailer. I wish I have ordered it with a fan built in, but I will see if I can find one that would fit in it. It was delivered on time and I would definitely buy again. 597643
This is the second one I bought. Other roof vent on our 1974 Traveleze went bad. We have had the first one almost 3 years and it works great. And this one shipped out real fast. 614393
Bought this to replace one that had a plastic lid chewed off by squirrels. It's an excellent product. Only complaint I have is that the interior trim ring is made for a much thicker roof than on my trailer. I could have cut it down but luckily the ring for the vent I was replacing fit perfectly. etrailer.com sells shorter depth trim rings but it would be better to not have to spend the extra money and allow selection of trim ring size when ordering. This was the only reason I didn’t give an excellent rating. 167829
Hank, what model trailer did you install this on? Im trying to find out if it will be the right depth for my trailer.
-- comment by: Aaron B - 08/01/2015Its just a standard 6x10 enclosed trailer. I think the title says Arising on manufacturer.
-- comment by: Hank - 08/11/2015I have no complaints. The metal cover prevents squirrels from destroying it.
I recently ordered and installed this. I had a plastic cover on the last one and a hail storm demolished it. I dont need the light so I went with the aluminum cover. This was very easy to install and fit perfect. I was back down the road with my trailer in about 45 minutes. Thanks etrailer. 137358
This vent still works as advertised. It has a been through many different storms with no leaks and no damage. These should be installed right out of the factory with this aluminum cover.
Purchased a metal roof vent kit for my snowmobile trailer, it took about two weeks to arrive, regular shipping. Box was a bit damaged and the roof vent edges were a bit bent (FedEx issue). However, the vent kit fit very well and was easy to install. 617998
Installed easy, works as it should. I did end up installing a piece of rubber weatherstripping where it closes because the plastic channel seal they include doesn't really seal great in high wind situations. Not a big deal. This will last the life of the trailer and is way better than the domed plastic one I destroyed when backing the trailer into my garage. This one clears my 8' door perfectly. 560646
I installed this vent on the roof of my 1986 Samurai. I usually have a couple of bird dogs in the back and the additional ventilation for them gives me peace of mind in hot weather. Keith 385787
installed on aluminum A.R.E. DCU truck cap. Did not use the screw or caulk tape kit since the screws were far to long and the caulking is for rubber roofs. As it is, the smallest screws I found in size #8 were 1/2" long. THe trim piece might be nice but it also reduces the head room in the space. i elected to not use it for that reason. THe metal vent cover is what i wanted, though I wish they had smoothed the covers edge; it is sharp for the installer. But once installed it wont be an issue. The screen is okay, but doesn't seem to completely cover the openings along the edge. If this was a concern, maybe a bit of 1/4" wide foam, backed with tape would make up the difference. I prefer this type vent assy. with the round knob instead of the crank. A cardboard template would have been helpful, but obviously not necessary. With luck it will last half as long as the truck cap ... we'll see. 550100
So far so good. I have not used it as much as I had anticipated. But it works for me when I do.
The metal roof vent came in perfect shape, although it was packed in a box without any padding- maybe that shows how strong it is! It was easy to install, looks great, and matches my old 70's Prowler trailer with the retro metal look. Remember, if you want light in your trailer, don't go for metal. If the 6 a.m. sun bothers you and you like to sleep in during the summer camping months, this will help keep the light out if you have it in your bed area, because it is room darkening. I received this in just 3 days using the inexpensive shipping, that was a bonus. 151805
Great and I need to buy another one soon
Received the Ventline Ventadome metal roof vent in good condition. After removing the old plastic roof vent, the new unit slipped right into the existing square hole with no trouble. See the "before" and "after" pictures. The old plastic roof vent only lasted a few years in Wyoming (the 2 X 5 blocks in the "before" picture were duck taped in place to prevent the plastic bag I stuffed in there from blowing away - a temporary fix while waiting for the new vent). I did not use the polyurethane adhesive between the roof and the vent flange. Everything deteriorates sooner or later especially in Wyoming. If I ever had to replace the vent it would be exceedingly difficult to remove it if stuck down with urethane adhesive. Instead I used ordinary putty (available at most hardware stores). In fact the old vent was sealed with putty. Since the putty layer is thicker than the urethane, I used 1" screws around the flange instead of the 3/4" screws supplied. A year from now I'll see how the vent has survived. 149815
How far above the roof does it protrude?
-- comment by: tim - 07/29/2015Tim, do you mean the distance from the roof to the top of the lid when closed, or when fully open? When closed it cant be more than a couple of inches. I dont know what it is fully open - maybe 12 inches?Unfortunately the trailer is in Wyoming and I am in Denver right now, so I cant measure it.Paul
-- comment by: Paul - 07/31/2015After one year in the Wyoming weather the vent has performed very well: no water leakage and no dust entry. Hail storms were not able to dent the vent lid even though they were severe enough to dent the aluminum trailer roof somewhat. I am pleased with the results. Paul
I bought two of these for my steel roof 1969 Clark Cortez motorhome. I actually ordered the 2nd one after buying and installing the first, so I am a repeat customer with this particular vent. Shipped to my door for cheaper than a vintage supply website offered the exact vent for replacements on vintage airstreams and other trailers. The installation was simple. Looks clean and I LOVE the metal vents. No early morning sunlight over my head in my eyes when camping. :) :) :) 85683
Looked it over rather quickly after opening the box. It certainly appears to be everything advertised. It has the metal lid, in addition to metal frame, as advertised and hopefully will stand up a little better than the cheap plastic ones during a major hailstorm. It was delivered much faster than expected by UPS Ground. Overall, a great experience from the telecon to order and all the way through delivery! 375878
Just installed it about two weeks ago. Actually just installed the cover since it had the type hinge that allowed it. Whole assembly was installed with so much sealant, it would have taken a Road Grader to scrape it off, so did the easy thing
The metal construction of the roof vent seemed sturdy enough. I didn't like the "manual lift" on it, the construction seemed sort of cheap to me. And the plastic skirt is flimsy and seems weaker than the rest of the design. I purchased this to replace my cracked plastic one. It almost seems better just to use the metal cover on my existing roof vent and save the rest of it for spare parts. I'm going to install it tomorrow. But it's definitely worth the price, even if it's just for the metal cover! 22738
I bought this vent because it was low profile ,metal, manual operation and made in the USA. It was easier to install than I thought it would be ; because of the contours in the cap. No problem. The flange was wide enough and the gauge thick enough to make the contour perfectly. I used 100% clear silicone to make the seal.I'll paint it as soon as temperatures get back to normal. I highly recommend this unit. 275475
Its still working flawlessly
Vent us great. Perfect fit in our 1953 Streamline trailer. 506395
This is the second vent I have purchased to replace plastic vents that degraded in the Phoenix sun. I didn't have my battery operated drill driver as I started to prep for the job, so as I began to dissemble the original I realized I could leave the original base and just replace the hood and mechanism. This changed a two hour job into a 15 min. Job and less time in 110 deg. Heat. Good quality product. 138159
Its still working flawlessly.
I love my new metal vent! My auto is a Ford 2007 E350 Super Extended cab with 138,0000+ miles which I also love not the miles but the Van. Living here in the Rocky Mountains above the sleepy town of Las Vegas New Mexico a metal vent was essential as we have surprise hail storms even in the summer time which last year whiped out a record of windshields and metal house roofs! The installation has awarded me as "Poster Child for the Unprepared'! My jig saw brand , a "Rigid" non variable speed apparently, needed a new blade I soon found after successfully drilling the roof pilot holes. I had worn it out cutting heavy metal door thresholds. Off to the town below to discover no one here has the correct blades for my brand. I then caved and bought a great variable speed Black and Decker which accepts Milwaukee blades even available almost everywhere! The drill championed the metal cutout plus murdered my back electric attachment to the dome light LOL! The caulking was for me messy as usual and Dylan had sent just the right amount to fill in even the 4 hole gaps as my roof has deep ridges to deal with after sinking the vent. The screws I found were inadequate for the metal roofing install so back to town this time covered in silver caulking appearing as a giant bird flying overhead had pooped on me lol. Finally back and screws in place to complete the seal I applied the remaining caulking all around the edges and finished with Flex Tape just in case to ward off our winters. As I said I love it! This is a great recommended product with my stamp of approval! Thanks Dylan! 522916
WOW! Incredibly FAST shipping! Installed this vent in A.R.E. topper using hockey sticks as a frame/garnish on super thin aluminum roof. Love the low profile vent shape, the removable screen. The install kit was excellent saving me much time/hassle installing late at night and not having to run to a store for screws etc THANK YOU! 583743
With these metal ones no need to every replace like the plastics ones. 570347
This product was purchased to replace an old vent that broke. The vent showed up on the front steps. I open the box and found the corner to be bent up. I needed to fix the hole in the roof A.S.A.P., so I bent the corner back to avoid going through a return. Over all I'm happy with the vent, but not thrilled about it being bent. 95459
This metal roof vent that we ordered from etrailer is wonderful. we ordered 3 of them and replaced all of our vent covers. Now they no longer get broken every time it hails and they don't come off when driving down the road. We are very happy with this product as well as all other products we have ordered from etrailer. etrailer is the best site to use to get parts for RVs. 565093
Thank you for the great service. My vent in the bathroom of my RV was broke and with the rain i really appreciate the speedy time frame in which I received the product 568560
Excellent product. Suggest that the vent package be kept from moving around inside the box during shipping as one corner was bent up a little. 725153
Great service with great product 715750
Great product, inside plastic cover could be a little heavier grade but works fine. The exterior parts are sturdy and seem to be well made. This will last forever on roof of my enclosed trailer. 715413
Great Cover. I had 3 plastic covers on the same trailer that all slowly decayed due to sunlight exposure. Of course you find out that the plastic cover is broken after the water has been coming in for several days or weeks. This one fixed the issue permanently. Highly recommended. 714926
Delivered quickly, good product. Replaced old system without any problems. Thanks 703531
Fast shipping. Which is a must in competing with amazon. Product seems to be very solid. I have not installed it yet but I am sure it will good. 702976
Kit showed up on time, installed easy and functioned perfectly. 700514
Great Service 694050
Metal covered vents are the way to go. These look good, fit great and work nicely.Order got here on time and it was easy to order on line. 686578
The items I ordered came quickly after I placed the order. Replacing the old lights with the new LED lights was easy and it made a big difference in making the trailer easier to see not only at night but seeing the brake lights in the daylight hours. The roof hatch was a easy replacement for the original one. I know the metal one won’t crack and break like the plastic one that was original equipment. After investing in a trailer to haul the hot rod that has taken years to build, make sure the other guy that’s not paying attention can see you and your investment 682932
Received the vent in perfect condition. The vent will replace one that was damaged by a hail storm. I will not be able to install it for a week but I can tell from looking and comparing to the old that it will work perfectly. Being metal the vent cover should stand up much better than the one it will replace. The removeable screen is also an improvement over the one it is replacing. 679694
Easy to install. They look great and seem very durable. 673499
Needed a vent that wasn't going to fall apart in a couple years because of sun exposure. Wish it could allow light in, but you can't have everything. Price was right, service was excellent. 672454
The trailer vent was exactly what I was looking for. It fit perfectly and being all aluminum it was of superior quality to the flimsy fiberglass one I had before. It became so brittle in the sun and had cracked multiple places over the years. Caulk wasn't working anymore. This one should last a long time! 668229
Very nice. I am actually building a greenhouse and needed some good quality metal roof vents. These are great and were way better price than the ones the greenhouse supply stores sells 667800
The product itself gets 4+ stars. Inexpensive and perfect replacement for the plastic one that deteriorated and fell apart. NO SCREWS, NO BUTYL TAPE included though, I'd have paid a few $$ more to get that stuff in the box. eTrailer gets 2 stars. Good price and shipped very quickly, but the shipping dept sent the item in the manufacturers box which had ZERO padding or packing to protect the item, so it was damaged when it got here. Luckily it was easy enough to fix and eTrailer customer service made right on it. 667397
I am pleased with the product, and also for the help that your rep., Ashley provided 666029
Shipping time less than one week after order placement; very attractive price. Quality looks very good out of the box; no damage in shipment. Hope to install it in the next week. 662824
Excellent service. Roof vent arrived on time. There were a couple of small dents in the frame, probably due to shipping, easily fixed with some pliers. That's the ONLY reason I took away one star. Great company to do business with and will do so in the future. I'd recommend them to anyone who needs trailer parts. 654249
Good product and great shipping. Than ks 643141
Great product and good customer service, always order from here, always has what we need!!! 640572
Perfect replacement for my original. 641952
Installed these units in my custom smoker trailer to expel smoke and heat. Simple design and sturdy they get the job done. Installed easy and I’m sure will last. 637210
