RV Access Doors with 6 Inch Wide Cutout and Open Back
Built for straightforward replacements, these rv access doors fit a 6 inch wide cutout and use an open back for direct access to cords or valves. Measure your opening to confirm fit, and verify rear clearance if hardware protrusion could interfere in tight spaces. With the right match, installation can make for an easy drop-in swap.
Installation is typically straightforward and can be a drop-in replacement. Plan on butyl tape for the mounting flange and a non-sag sealant for a waterproof seal; extra butyl tape may be needed. If the door doesn't shut easy after install, recheck alignment and adjust until it closes smoothly.
Some doors include a notch or sliding cover notch so a power cord can be used with the door closed, which helps reduce rain entry. If that feature matters, look for mention of a cable notch in the description. It's useful for shore power connections.
Measure your RV's cutout opening and match it to the listed cutout size. We've seen access doors that fit a 6-7/8" tall x 6-3/8" wide cutout, so compare against those dimensions. Also check the actual pass-through opening size inside the frame; one example had a 6-1/2" opening width even though the outside was wider.
Security can vary. One report called the lock and door very flimsy and said a screwdriver could defeat it quickly, and also wanted a more secure key. If security matters to you, check the lock style and key type, and consider where the door will be used.
Verify depth behind the opening before you buy. A lock can protrude out the back considerably, and if space is tight it may not work. If you have wiring, framing, or hardware close behind the panel, measure that clearance to avoid interference.
