Video Transcript for A Closer Look at the Roadmaster Hy-Power Diodes (Qty 4)

Speaker 1: Today we're going to take a look at the Roadmaster heavy duty Hy-Power diodes for a quantity of four. Now, this will allow motor homes or RVs to power the lights on the tow vehicle without power feedback. The diodes will permit electrical current to flow in only one direction, from the motor home to the car, preventing any electrical feedback and the damage that it can cause to the tow car's electrical components. This part is for a quantity of four diodes with the 12 spade terminals included to hook this up. It is a heat sink design on the diode and this does reduce wiring hassles. It's a trouble-free operation. It does include detail wiring instructions on the back here, and the maximum load is 85 amps per diode.

That should do it for the review on the Roadmaster heavy duty Hy-Power diodes for a quantity of four.

  • Flat Tow Wiring Kit Compatible with 2005 Honda Pilot
The TowDaddy Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # TD3018 is not a fit for your 2005 Honda Pilot. TowDaddy was acquired by Hopkins, but they no longer make these harnesses and I do not recommend them. Hopkins does make some custom wiring connection harnesses but unfortunately they do not make one for your Pilot. For a better alternative I recommend the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 or the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit...

  • Tow Bar Wiring/Lighting Kit for 2001 Dodge Dakota with Charge Line for Battery
The tow bar lighting solution you would want for your 2001 Dodge Dakota would be the Roadmaster diode kit part # RM-152-98146-7 which will give you the lighting functions for the truck as well as carries an extra circuit you can use for charging the Dakota battery. Then to complete the charge line to your Dakota battery you'd want the part # RM-156-25 as well and you'd be set.

  • Are Diodes Needed For Installing Roadmaster InvisiBrake on Jeep Wrangler
Appreciate the purchase and yes, you will need diodes for your Jeep Wrangler when installing the Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System # RM-8700. Per Roadmaster, even with a plug-in wiring harness like you have, you would still need to install diodes, and for that use the Roadmaster Hy-Power Diodes # RM-794.

  • Are the Roadmaster Hy-Power Diodes Water Tight
As long as you are not exceeding the 85 amps at 12 volts per diode max load then you can definitely use the configuration in your diagram. I spoke with my contact at Roadmaster who said that the connections are not watertight but the internal components are. You would either need to find a way to make the connections watertight (as you mentioned in your diagram) or simply wipe the connections off if you were to go off-road with your 2011 Jeep Wrangler and get the diode(s) wet. We have...

  • Flat Towing Base Plate Kit for 2021 Chevy Blazer with 3.6L Engine
By twist lock couplers, I'm assuming you're speaking of a flat towing base plate kit. A Saturn vehicle and a Chevy Blazer would use a different base plate kit, so you'll need to get a new kit. As long as your Blazer doesn't have the skid plate, the Roadamaster # RM-523204-5 kit will work great for you. As far as a wiring goes, you can piece together a kit using the # RM-794 diodes, a length of # 16-4B-1 wire long enough to reach the vehicle taillights from the front bumper, a # RM-910030-7...

  • Where to Install Diodes when Installing Roadmaster Invisibrake with Tow Bar Lighting
If you check out the picture I attached you will see where to install the diodes on your vehicle to install both the Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System # RM-8700 and the part # HM56304 that you referenced. For a diode kit you would want the part # RM-794.

  • Can 2013 Fiat 500 with Separate Taillights be Wired for Flat Towing with Diodes for Combined
Your situation is a very common one and the solution you proposed is the easiest and most popular solution. Like you mentioned you'd be wiring up the separate taillights to function like combined ones. You'd need a total of 4 diodes which we have that as a 4 pack with part # RM-794. I attached the correct diagram you'd need to use for your application.

  • Maximum Amp Rating of Roadmaster Hy-Power Diode
The Roadmaster Hy-Power Diode # RM-790 is rated for a maximum of 85 amps. This is for a single diode but is also available in different quantities if you need: - Quantity of 1: Roadmaster Hy-Power Diode # RM-790 - Quantity of 2: Roadmaster Hy-Power Diode # RM-792 - Quantity of 3: Roadmaster Hy-Power Diode # RM-793 - Quantity of 4: Roadmaster Hy-Power Diode # RM-794 I have added links to video reviews for you to check out as well.

  • What is the Voltage and Amperage Rating for Roadmaster Diodes
Roadmaster diode # RM-790 is rated for a maximum of 24 volts and 85 amps. So you can use it on a 12 or 24 volt system as long as the amperage draw does not exceed 85 amps. At 30 volts that would exceed the rated capacity of the diode and eventually you would have to replace the diode if the voltage was sustained over 24 volts long enough and/or frequent enough.

  • Does Roadmaster Hy-Power Diode Have Any Voltage Drop
The Roadmaster Hy-Power Diodes haven't been tested for voltage drop since they are designed to be a pass-thru device that just keeps backfeeding from happening. When I reached out to my contact at Roadmaster they said that the voltage drop would be very minimal if anything. I like the Hy-Power Diodes because of how durable and effective they are. You can get this diode in a handful of qunatities: 1 - # RM-790 2 - # RM-792 3 - # RM-793 4 - # RM-794

  • Is Using The Hy-Power Roadmaster Diodes Better or Worse Than The Smart Diodes on 2021 Chevy Colorado
First the biggest difference is the cost of the Hy-Power Diodes # RM-794 being more price conscious than the Roadmaster Smart Diodes # RO34FR. The Hy-Power diodes will also allow you to tie into the 2 separate functions on the incandescent bulb where the smart diodes only have one output and regulates power going into the single function of the incandescent bulb. So if this filament inside the bulb were to fail neither light would work where as with the Hy-Power if the brake/turn filament...

  • Winnebago with Seperate Taillights Towing a Jeep and Troubleshooting Brake Lights not Working
Since you have connected your Winnebago to both your Jeep and boat trailer and are experiencing the same issue it is likely related to the vehicle wiring on your Winnebago that is the issue. The first thing that I would check would be the vehicle connection 6-way on your Winnebago and make sure that all the wiring to the connection points are in-tact and that the pins do not show any signs of corrosion or damage. You will want to use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to test the...

Yes, we do have a diagram you can reference when installing a US-style 7-Way on your Land Rover Defender, like the Hopkins Endurance # HM47210. I'm attaching a photo showing the pin-out for a US 7-Way and I'll be linking our helpful article that goes into this with a little more depth. Please note that vehicle wiring in the UK tends to be separated out a lot more than in the US so you may end up needing to use some other parts like the Roadmaster Hy-Power Diodes # RM-794 as well. • Difference Between Roadmaster Hy-Power Diodes # RM-792 and # RM-794
The only difference between the Roadmaster Hy-Power Diodes # RM-792 and # RM-794 is the quantity of diodes included with the kit. The # RM-792 includes two diodes while the part # RM-792 includes four. Otherwise the diodes themselves are exactly the same. I have attached a short video review below that you can check out as well.

  • Where Do Diodes Splice In When Installing Diode Wiring In A 2016 Jeep Wrangler JKU I al
We don't carry Cool Tech products so I can't tell you for sure how their products work. The URL you pasted didn't work so I couldn't find the harness you purchased but I looked over their website and it looks like all of their flat towing harnesses are a plug and play factory connector style wiring harness and wouldn't require diodes. If your harness is different I would need to know the exact part number to take a look at it. Typically diodes like part # RM-794 get installed just before...

  • 2000 GMC Safari Van Brake Light Diodes
It sounds like you want to flat tow a 2000 GMC safari behind an RV, and you need a flat tow wiring kit to operate your tail lights on the Safari. I would recommend the Roadmaster # RM-152-98146-7 Universal wiring kit which includes everything you need to connect your RV's tail, brake, and turn signal lights to your towed car. Diodes prevent feedback and wire your car to operate as a combined system. Includes a 7-way to 6-way straight adapter cord. If you only want the tail light diodes,...

  • Does my Tow Bar Wiring Harness Require the use of Hy-Power Diodes
Wherever you use the RV to signal the vehicle's factory lights, diodes will be needed to stop the backflow of electricity. If you are using a set of external lights like part # TL21RK then the diodes will not be needed but since you have the wiring harness attached to your factory lights then you will want to use a set of diodes like part # RM-794. I have attached a diode installation help article for you to take a look at as well.

  • Do Diodes Need to be Replaced for Roadmaster Wiring Kit # RM-154 on a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee
If you are using the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit # RM-154 then I have some steps you can take to see what is wrong. It could very well be the diodes that you are using. Try using your tester on the wiring right before it enters the diodes if you are getting a signal before they enter the diodes but not a signal afterwards then you need to replace the diodes with part # RM-794. Another possibility is that the wiring itself is bad. You can use the Wesbar # W002230 to...

  • Are Diodes Required for Tow Bar Lighting Harness for 2018 Jeep JL Wrangler
If you have a plug and play tow bar lighting harness that fits your 2018 Jeep JL Wrangler you would not need additional diodes and you'd be good to go as-is. Now if you have a plug and play trailer wiring harness you should note that these cannot be used in reverse as tow bar lighting so you would need to go with a lighting kit like the Roadmaster # RM-15267.
