Question:

I purchased a Roadmaster base plate, tow bar, safety cables and some magnetic lights from you folks last year and as usual everything came quickly and our installation went GREAT. Have towed our TOAD over 5000 miles now and REALLY want to get rid of the magnetic lights. We installed regular trailer wire from the front of the toad underneath and up into the trunk area where we put a flat wire connector so I could remove the magnetic lamps when not towing and they dont have to stay in the trunk. The 500 has separate turn signals from from the stop vs taillights but that created no problems since we werent using the TOAD lights. NOW Id like to know if I can simply use my 4 wire flat connector that comes into the trunk and wire it into some of the diodes you sell and use just the taillights them selves but essentially turn them into a combined light/brake/turnsignal when plugged in that way? If so how many diodes would I need to run. I see some diagrams on your website but the more I look at them the more confused I get. Can you help? I am not using any supplemental braking system

Your situation is a very common one and the solution you proposed is the easiest and most popular solution. Like you mentioned you'd be wiring up the separate taillights to function like combined ones. You'd need a total of 4 diodes which we have that as a 4 pack with part # RM-794.

I attached the correct diagram you'd need to use for your application.
