Airflow makes or breaks how your Transit feels inside. Without it, the space can feel closed in and stuffy. Adding this awning window turns that solid panel into a screened, tinted opening that tilts outward to bring in air while staying protected.
This awning window replaces the fixed glass in the driver-side forward panel of your Ford Transit. The glass is hinged at the top and tilts outward from the bottom, supported by struts, turning that sealed section into a controlled vent. When you're parked, sleeping inside, or working out of the van, that opening lets air move through the forward cabin instead of leaving that area closed off.
When the window is open, the mesh screen keeps insects from entering through the forward opening so the van can vent at camp or overnight. The pleated shade gives you a way to cover the glass when you're sleeping inside or storing gear in the cabin area. You can use the screen and shade together, separately, or retract both for a clear view.
The forward panel sits along the main cabin space and is an easy sightline into the Transit. The 15% gray tint limits how much someone can see inside while still allowing visibility out. It also blocks 85% of UV rays, reducing sun exposure through that section of glass.
Cutting into the forward side panel is permanent. The frame has to match the factory contour so the urethane seals evenly against the body. This window follows the original stamping profile, so when it is set into place, the edge matches the panel you just opened up.
After the opening is cut, a continuous bead of automotive urethane (VW74ZR - sold separately) is applied around the perimeter. When the window is set into place, that urethane bonds the frame to the body panel and becomes the seal that keeps water from entering the wall cavity. This bond holds the window in place and creates the weather barrier so you can vent the van through the sliding door without letting water into the interior.

So folks, if you're camping, sleeping or just working out of your transit, getting airflow through the van can make a lot of difference, can make it more comfortable inside. And this window would replace if you already have a fixed glass in that forward section with a window opening or something, this can bring in that fresh air without having to leave that door open. Now this glass is hinged. So let me get back here and move some openings here or some latches. So I can open that just as you see there.
Let me go ahead and turn it sideways so you can see it a little better. So there's two gas hinges, one on both sides. Those gas struts are going to hold it open at whatever angle you decide. And then you can certainly close it all the way. And that's fully open right there.
Now another cool feature is going to be the shades. And I'm going to try my best to kind of shade that maybe this way. There we go. Let's zoom in a little bit. All right, so the first shade is just like your standard screen kind of shade, if you will.
And these do have magnets across the whole strip. So they will connect together here and here. Or I can pull on the top one and actually have an actual screen section. But again, there are magnets in between them. So I could technically do both if I wanted to one way or the other. And then again, you can just simply close it, close the latches back in place. And just like that, I'm not getting rain or anything in here at all. And here's that side profile there so you can see how thick this bump out is. Now you may have to use or you're probably going to need some urethane for installation. We do carry all that stuff separately. You can pick up whatever you need separately here. This has a nice 15% privacy tint that's going to help reduce glare and visibility from the outside looking in, but it's also going to block 85% of those UV rays.
