Light changes how your Sprinter feels inside. Without it, the rear quarter side panel section stays dark and harder to use. This fixed side panel window replaces that solid section with glass, so you get more daylight and a clear view outside.
This window replaces the solid metal panel in the rear quarter position on the passenger side of your 2007-2009 Dodge Sprinter, 2007-2021 Freightliner Sprinter, or 2010-2026 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter with a 170-inch wheelbase. Instead of a blank section along the rear portion of the cargo area, you gain a fixed glass panel that adds visibility and natural light without introducing vents or moving parts. That section stays sealed while opening up the side of the van.
When you drive over bumps or uneven pavement, the body of the van moves slightly. The glass in this panel moves with the surrounding metal, which helps reduce stress at the edges and lowers the chance of cracking. To handle that movement, this window uses tempered safety glass that meets DOT and SAE standards for road use.
The rear quarter side panel window sits at eye level from outside and creates a direct sightline into the cargo space. The 17% gray tint limits how much someone can see inside while still allowing visibility out. It also blocks 83% of UV rays, reducing sun exposure through that section of glass.
Cutting into the rear quarter side panel is permanent. The glass has to match the factory contour so the urethane seals evenly against the body. This window follows the original stamping profile, so when it is set into place, the edge matches the panel you just opened up.
After the opening is cut, a continuous bead of automotive urethane (VW84ZR - sold separately) is applied around the perimeter. When the glass is set into place, that urethane bonds it to the body panel and forms the seal that keeps water from entering the wall cavity. This bond secures the glass and creates the weather barrier so you can bring in light without adding a vented opening.

Today we're taking a look at the Van Windows Direct fixed rear quarter side window for the passenger side of an '07 to '09 Dodge Sprinter, '07 to 2021 Freightliner Sprinter, or a 2010 to current Mercedes Benz Sprinter, all those with a 170 inch wheel base. So make sure you're checking the fit guide over at etrailer.com and your things like your make and model, make sure you're getting the right parts the first time. Now this is going to be great if you're going to be converting your sprinter into a camper, adventure van, mobile workspace even. The back of those vans can get pretty dark whenever you're just surrounded by solid metal.
Well with this, you can at least put a tinted pane window here and that's going to bring more natural light into that workspace. Going to kind of open it up, make it a little brighter. You can have a nice view to the outside, especially if you're parked in a mountain range or somewhere nice. And it's a fixed window, so there's no sliding, no venting, nothing like that. But you should already have ventilation somewhere else in your build already as well.
This does give you a nice 17% tint. So it's going to block out about 83% of UV rays. So it's going to do a great job of not letting people see in really well, reflecting the light, but from the inside looking out, it looks about like if you had a pair of sunglasses on, something of that nature. So it's a great job. This of course is tempered safety glass, so it does meet the DOT and all SAE standards.
And it is formed to follow precisely the curves of those sprinters. So it's going to look like it came stock whenever you get it installed. Now installation's a breeze, you will need to cut through that metal panel. This will match up exactly where that pop out goes. And then you're going to need to use a urethane bonding sold separately to seal that up.
That bonding is going to not only just hold it in place, but it's also going to act as the weather seal. It's an automotive urethane.
