Airflow makes or breaks how your Sprinter feels inside. Without it, the space can feel closed in and stuffy. Adding this premium awning window turns that solid panel into a screened, tinted opening that tilts outward to bring in air.
This awning window replaces the fixed glass in the driver-side forward panel of your Sprinter. The glass is hinged at the top and tilts outward from the bottom on struts, turning that sealed section into a controlled vent. When you're parked, sleeping inside, or working out of the van, that opening lets air move through the forward cabin instead of leaving that area closed off.
With the glass tilted out, the mesh screen keeps insects from entering through the opening so the van can vent overnight or at camp. The pleated shade gives you a way to cover the window when you're sleeping inside or storing gear in the cabin area. You can use the screen and shade together, separately, or retract both for a clear view.
The forward panel sits along the main cabin space and is an easy sightline into the van. The 17% gray tint limits how much someone can see inside while still allowing visibility out. It also blocks 83% of UV rays, reducing sun exposure through that section of glass.
Cutting into the forward side panel is permanent. The frame has to match the factory contour so the urethane seals evenly against the body. This window follows the original stamping profile, so when it is set into place, the edge matches the panel you just opened up.
After the opening is cut, urethane primer is applied around the opening before a continuous bead of automotive urethane (VW74ZR - sold separately) is applied. Once the window is pressed into place, the urethane bonds the frame to the body and forms the weather seal that keeps water out. Consistent bead thickness helps create a proper seal, and the window is taped in position while the urethane cures.

Hi, everyone. Steve here with etrailer. Today we're taking a look at the Van Windows Direct premium crank-out awning window for the driver's side forward panel of your Sprinter van. Now folks, this is a custom fit application. Looks like it fits '07 to '09 Dodge Sprinters, any wheelbase, '07 to 2021 Freightliner Sprinters, any wheelbase, and 2010 to 2026, current year Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, any wheelbase. As always, please make sure you're checking the fit guide.
Be sure you're getting the right parts the first time. Now, this window's gonna give you a great way to add some ventilation, natural light into those vans while also giving you some privacy and protection from the elements. The glass has a 17% gray solar tint. It does a great job of giving you some privacy. Knocks out a glare, but also it's gonna block 83% of those harmful UV rays.
Now, this window's been form matched for the factory stamping of that driver's side forward panel, those Sprinter vans, giving you an OE-style look and fit. Now, as far as installation, you can use our install locator link below. You can click on it, give us your ZIP code, and we can help pair you up with trusted etrailer installation places in your area. Or if you wanna tackle it yourself, you will need some other materials sold separately. You're gonna need some urethane for bonding it.
You're gonna apply a primer and that urethane around the opening before setting the window into place. And again, you'll use that securing tape and caulking gun during that process as well. So if you do need all that stuff for a DIY, we do carry it separately as well. Now, I do wanna try to carefully spin this so you can get a side look (window thumps) at the window. So, what we got going on here is, on the inside, you have your shades.
You have a mesh shade and a darkening shade. And I'll show that in a second, but I do wanna show you this pop-out. So, I said crank earlier. It's not really crank. There's two gas struts on each side. Once you undo the latches, I can easily open this, and I can let air vent in and out as needed. And then if I wanna close it, I can just simply pull it back down and then latch it in place. Now, these struts are gonna hold at any angle. They do have little stopper knobs on. You can twist them to make them tighter or looser as needed. And they're gonna do a great job, again, of keeping the moisture out, rain out, and those kind of things. I'm gonna go ahead and close them up. And I do wanna kinda show you that process there as well. So, there are plastic handles all the way across. And then while I've got it here, you do have two magnetic strips that run the full length of both of these shades. From the top down, I have a white colored, this is gonna block out everything from being seen, outside or in. And then from the bottom up, I have the mesh one that is see-through. So now if I wanna just keep bugs out and stuff, but I still wanna see out, I have that option. And if you heard them click together and you kind of see them pulling together, lightly with one finger, you can go up and down. They do have a magnetic strip, again, between them all the way across. So when they touch, they're gonna attach, and you can easily swap between them like that as well. So it's pretty versatile. I like the design. This sticks out a couple inches from the top out. And again, folks, these are gonna come packaged really good with foam and wrapping and everything, so you shouldn't have to worry about any kind of damage or anything in transit. So folks, that is our look at this Van Windows Direct premium crank-out awning side window for the forward panel on the driver's side. I'm Steven with etrailer. Thanks for watching. Have a good day.
