If you are looking for an easy way to haul your expensive gear, slap this premium Yakima sport trailer on your hitch and you're ready to Rack and Roll.

Rear view of Yakima Rack and Roll trailer with 78" crossbars

This high-performance, lightweight Rack and Roll trailer comes with a pair of adjustable, 78" Yakima crossbars for mounting boats, bikes and cargo boxes for covered storage - whatever you need. The round crossbars slide along tracks to adjust to your load, and they accept all Yakima roof-rack accessories - it's like having a tow-behind roof rack with all the capability and versatility of a standard Yakima rack. The difference here is that, with the trailer's conveniently low loading height, you don't have to lift your gear over your head to store it.

Rack and Roll adjustable shock absorbers

Rack and Roll holds up to 250 lbs and coddles your gear with fully independent, adjustable shock absorbers. The suspension has 4 inches of wheel travel for exceptional highway performance, cushioning your gear and keeping the trailer from going "airborne" over rough terrain.

Rack and Roll trailer stowed uprightRack and Roll rear rollers

The versatile trailer is easy to store when not in use, with a variety of options for keeping it tucked away in your garage. The tongue and wheels remove easily with stainless steel pins to make the trailer more compact. The trailer can be stored upright or hung on the garage wall by the crossbars. The rear section of the frame features two integrated rollers to make moving the trailer laterally effortless.

Standard 4-way light connector for Rack and Roll trailer

A standard, 4-way flat, black rubber connector is included for connecting your lights to the towing vehicle. The trailer connector has three male pins and one female pin. The vehicle's flat-4 connector should have one male pin (exposed ground) and three female connections (live circuits for stop, turn and running lights).

Rack and Roll trailer locking lever

The trailer frame includes a locking lever that secures your hitch tongue to the trailer frame.

Rack and Roll carrying handle

An integrated carrying handle is mounted near the coupler to make it easier to place the trailer on the hitch ball. The handle also turns your trailer into a handcart that is easy to maneuver while it's unhitched from your vehicle.

The trailer can carry one boat up to 17' long or two 16'-long boats. Add the Rack and Roll Tongue Extension Kit (Y08109) - sold separately - to increase the capacity to one 22'-long boat or two 21'-long boats.

You can also store the trailer without removing the tongue and wheels by adding the Rack and Roll Kickstand (Y08115) - sold separately.

The trailer is constructed from anodized aluminum and features custom-cast, polished aluminum alloy wheels.

The trailer works with Class I, II and III hitches with a 2" ball installed. The ball should be mounted 22" from the ground for optimum performance. To ensure the best fit, use a ball mount with the proper drop or rise to modify the height of your receiver.

Most states require that you register your Rack and Roll trailer. All paperwork necessary for registering your trailer is provided by Yakima. Take the documents to your Department of Motor Vehicles and you will be issued a license plate.

OUTSTANDING Trailer. Pulls, tracks and handles rough roads awesome! I love it. 19475

The trailer is just what I needed to carry my fishing kayak. I ordered the 78" crossbars to be able to haul two kayaks. It trailers easily behind my van and I like that it can be quickly and easily reduced in size for compact storage in my small shed. Also, the light weight allows moving by hand in situations where backing up to the water is not practical. Previously I used a roof rack and was having difficulty getting the kayak on and off. The Rack and Roll Trailer - 78" - Y08107 solved that problem plus compact storage after use and looks great! 321974

This trailer is easy to assemble, simple, and lightweight. Its low deck height makes it easy to swap out different racks, so it's easy to convert from bike mode to kayak mode or some combination of both. The kickstand is a little flimsy, but it's quite solid otherwise. 249282

Fits two tandem kayaks and a Yakima cargo carrier - about 225 lbs of gear. Tracks well at highway speeds. No swaying at all. No squeeking and clanking that you typically hear with a utility trailer. Easy to assemble and store. Quite a nice trailer. 19545

High quality trailer and superb customer service. Fast shipping. I upgraded to enhanced suspension in case I decide to build a heavier boat in future. This trailer rides like it's not there, smooth ride. California DMV accepted the paper work documentation without question, so registration was a piece of cake. Advice: this is a finely machined trailer, so in order to ease the assembly process FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS EXACTLY, taking your time. Did I mention the customer service was SUPERB? 172691

I recently purchased the Yakima Rack-and-roll 78" trailer from etrailer.com I will attempt to be as fair as possible in my review, as there have been numerous positive and negative aspects. These equate to a mid-tier rating of "good", although it is important to note that in summary (maybe just because of the uniqueness of this product, as there are not similar ones from other competitors), I must say if I had to purchase this trailer again, I probably would. General Impressions on Yakima: I own numerous products from Yakima. In general I have found them to be of good quality and have not encountered too many issues. I have, on occasions, run into quality control issues in the past (a hitch-mounted bike rack with a frame bolt that came unsoldered) and this trailer was no exception. General impressions on Etrailer: I have also purchased from etrailer before, and will continue to do so. Up front, I must comment them for their service: they are truly customer-oriented, and their customer service is at par or above my other favorite online vendor, which is Amazon. They are safe online merchants and their customer service is amazing (thanks Cathy!) Packaging/Shipping: The trailer arrived well boxed, but a little banged up. The box had a couple of small holes, and was a little banged-up on one side. One of the amber running lights arrived cracked. Poor job by UPS. The rest of the packaging was ok. Comments regarding the lights: The lights are not all that sturdy (I twisted electric terminals in trying to untwist the light housing loose), but they are also easily replaceable. The assembly manual even lists at least three popular vendors of these lights, which you can find at any truck-stop or autoparts dealer. Etrailer was great about contacting Yakima and getting me a replacement for the one that came busted. Comments regarding assembly: The assembly/instruction manual is well printed in full color. There are easy step-by-step instructions to follow. They could have probably said the same and more effectively in a simpler brochure (too many pages, for my taste, to tell say you have to place part A over part B and bolt them together). But all in all the documentation is good. The assembly probably took me about an hour. Comments regarding Locks: The trailer comes with three locks: one for the trailer tongue, and one on each wheel block (to prevent someone from stealing the wheels). Two of the three bolts (the one on the wheels) had a serious manufacturer defect: the metal was broken and the lock barrel (upper half of the lock assembly) would come apart from the lock latch (lower half of the lock assembly). Bad job by Yakima's quality control. Great job by etrailer in contacting Yakima and getting me replacement locks free of charge. Comments regarding wiring: Probably the more serious issue I encountered was the fact that the wiring was reversed. The wiring harness starts with a flat 4-pin connector on the trailer tongue, and splits off to each side of the trailer with one cable for the "running lights" and another for the "turning lights" (ground is the aluminum frame). Because of how the trailer is assembled, there are two plugs that must be connected on each side of the trailer to provide continuity to the left-side and right-side wiring. On one side you have yellow and brown cables that plug into the continuation of those same yellow and brown cables. On the other side there is another plug which connects the green and brown cables to the continuation of those same green and brown cables. Both these plugs can only be plugged in one way. In other words, they cannot be reversed by rotating 180 degrees. Through a gross fault from the manufacturer, my connectors came twisted, to the point that on one side of the trailer, the yellow cable got connected to the brown one, and the brown one got connected to the yellow one. On the other side of the trailer, green paired with brown and brown paired with green. In other words, my license plate running light blinked with my turning signal. It took some meticulous work to disassemble the plug and redo the wiring. It was not rocket science, but coupled with the broken amber light and the missing locks, this was the straw that broke the camel's back. Yakima's quality control proved to be disastrous. Comments regarding paperwork: I live in Texas. Etrailer mailed me (separately) a bill of sale and a title. Getting the trailer registered (mandatory) and titled (optional for lightweight trailers in Texas) was a piece of cake. With this paperwork, I walked in and out of the tax assessor-collector's office in a blink of an eye, license plate in hand and all. To top-off my "trailer experience", I later found my modulite (light wiring controller and harness on the vehicle side) had a short, which added time and pain to the troubleshooting, although this in particular had nothing to do with neither etrailer nor Yakima: that was me alone. Bottom line: etrailer helped me all along the way towards fixing my trailer issues. All is working fine now. The downside is I spent several hours of my time trying to troubleshoot manufacturer errors. I am very disappointed in Yakima for their poor quality control. However, that said, the trailer frame is solid and well built, and the issues I encountered were mostly fixable and related to "peripherals" which are serviceable. Because no other competitor product comes even close to this trailer, I would purchase a rack-and-roll again if I had to. Things I'd like to see in future models: Considering one might only be hauling a couple of bikes or a cargo box, the trailer tongue is a bit long and almost unnecessary. By adding just a couple more holes to the side of the tongue (for the pin), and top the top (for the lock) they could have made the tongue length customizable. This might have added stability to the car. There may be reasons why the trailer is just this long, but there are applications for a <400lb trailer that call for a shorter tongue, and I would have simply liked Yakima to have offered that option. The other downside noted by many previous buyers is that if you are looking into getting the sturdier (orange) spring suspension, Yakima will not trade in your blue ones... so you are basically left with a pair of new and worthless springs. Other than that, this is a fine trailer. 130141

Great roof rack trailer! Saved my back from trying to lift and strap down a tandem kayak to my SUV roof. I have the trailer configured to hold a kayak, a stand up paddle board, and cargo basket. No troubles so far driving at highway speeds. Easy to disconnect and move away from the vehicle or to another part of the yard. I love the ability to store it upright in my garage when not in use. 817968

I got Lots of boxes with items well packed . Assembly - take your time - manual is good and answers each step well. Parts are high quality and finished build is very satisfying. After I use it for a while I can say more. I talked to several long term owners and both said No problems and satisfied. 647616

Initial review. We received the four boxes with the parts of the trailer kit. Assembly was fairly easy ... especially when your 20 year old does it for you ;) . Between the instructions and the etrailer video, him and his friend were able to put it together with no issues. I back-checked it of course. We decided on the Yakima trailer because of its aluminum construction, it's weight (very light), and previous reviews. We are towing this trailer with a Honda CRV so weight was important. After an initial wheel problem that was resolved quickly by etrailer, the trailer tows almost as if it isn't there. Only the occasional hitch noise will remind you that you're towing a trailer. No problems with the small CRV towing it. A word on registering the trailer ... I've seen other reviews complain about the difficulty of getting the trailer registered. In our state, the trailer must be registered and have a plate. The laws in our state allows the Invoice to be substituted for the Materials Statement of Origin (MSO) when the trailer is a kit. This is key because the MSO is the hiccup in the other reviews. But after an hours wait at the DMV, the trailer was registered and we were on our way. The true test is coming up when we will take it on an extended trip. 510910

Wonderfully. It pulled like a dream and highly recommend it. A caution for those who have a cedar strip canoe: The trailer is open and all the road dust and mud got on the canoe. The dust got under the tie down straps and dulled the Spar varnish.

Easy to assemble with excellent video from etrailer . I strongly recommend using the video step by step , much easier than the instructions from Yakima . The trailer itself is versatile and easy . I used it to transport furniture, but mostly for Kayaks and canoes, I often drive on rough dirt roads , and this trailer with its high wheels and suspension is great 412681

Trailer was everything I expected, will work great to haul my kayaks. It took about two weeks to get it UPS delivered. I would of gave 5 stars but I had troubles getting a license plate. I needed a '' MSO '' Manufacturers Certificate of Origin. The trailer did not come with this and it turned in to a goat rope after that. 410005

What a cool trailer! I wasn't really expecting much when I first tried this trailer out. I was expecting such a light weight trailer to be bouncing and swinging all over the place... boy was I wrong. I took this guy out for 2 hour drive with two kayaks from St. Louis down to Lake Kinkaid on major highway, two lane country highway and country lanes. The Yakima handled them all like a champ. I also really liked using the trailer vs. lifting boats and hauling on top of a vehicle. I didn't notice any excess drag while driving or getting blown around by cross winds like you get with boats on top. The end of the day was great too, just to back up to the water and quickly slide the boats on to the trailer rather than using tired muscles to lift overhead. I didn't back the trailer into the water like a powerboat trailer... not sure if that would be ok for the lights or not? Benefits: 1. Long neck made for easy pulling, backing and easily fit my 14' kayak. 2. Independent suspension worked wonders for tracking straight and not swaying. 3. Lights are big and bright for night pulling such a small trailer (compared to power boat trailers). 4. Plenty of space to fit two kayaks flat. We could have easily fit two mountain bikes on there too if we wanted. 5. Handle at hitch makes for easy, one handed moving of the trailer even when loaded with the boats. 6. Hitch has a really smooth action and hooks up easily without fussing. I'm hoping that it keeps this up as use continues. Negatives: 1. Definitely invest in some kind of boat cradling system. I had my kayaks directly on the cross bars which never works out well. 2. The trailer did dissapear behind my Tacoma when no boats were on it. Just had to be a bit more careful when backing. 3. Be prepared to answer "What is that thing?" at the boat launch. 50106

Review from a similar Rack and Roll in Trailers

I hesitated to choose this trailer from Yakima due to price, but research suggested that it is of the highest quality and I found that to be true. It is extremely well engineered and is easy to put together. The instructions are simple and clear. I can't report road experience with it yet as I'm just getting it licensed, but it looks strong and is very light in weight. The fold-away storage features are a bonus for those with limited garage space. The key connections are pinned in place with precision pins and bow-tie cotters. It really could not be much easier. Well done Yakima. And service at etrailer is great. They communicate and follow up! 278992

Etrailer service and ordering was great. Assembly was a simple and fun process. We bought this trailer to accommodate our 20' kayak (and our 14' boats, too). So *much* easier than getting them up to the roof rack! Now, loading and unloading is a snap, both at home and at the water. The trailer itself is ultra-light, easy to move manually, and certainly tows with no trouble. 604380

I stand by my 5-star rating for this product: still in the best shape, functions perfectly I was going to say without a hitch but . . . , no problems whatsoever. Great product.

I just got the product today and can only rate it on putting it together and storage. Putting it together was simple enough, even though there seemed to be a couple of cases where I was scratching my head at the instructions, but that was mostly me not being used to the trailer-vocabulary. I don't recall anything troublesome or tricky. Probably took me 1.5 hrs with a couple of breaks. I feel like most of my time was unpacking everything. Storage was awesome. A few ways to do it. I chose the one where you take the wheels off. I plan on using this for my Hobie mirage revolution 11 kayak, also getting the yakima basket for it, and maybe that tongue stand. The build quality seems really solid, and the parts are nice. 480547

Review from a similar Rack and Roll in Trailers

Just assembled the trailer and loaded a 16’ Hobie kayak. The trailer is built really well. However I should have ordered the 3’ tongue extension to begin with. In order to get the proper amount of weight on the tongue the kayak needs to sit more forward than I can get it now. Also for multiple kayaks (loaded off center) you need a good bit of clearance so you don’t strike the rear of the vehicle during tight maneuvers. The extension is on order. I’ll update after I towed with it, but I expect no problems with it. 837784

Have been using the trailer. Fantastic . No longer requiring a ladder to place kayaks on truck racks. (that process became dangerous) Fits in my garage along with 2 cars and a truck. Very compact. Trails wonderfully on the open road. Everything arrived as expected. Instructions along with the package picture made the assembly very easy. Recommend ordering the kickstand as well. Even ordered the spare tire. Next will be fitting carriers for 2 bikes. etrailer has great customer service, tracking and service. Definitely recommend. 816040

Review from a similar Rack and Roll in Trailers

Very happy with the 66" trailer. etrailer support was excellent, shipping fast and free. Chose etrailer because of the three reputable online retailers, etrailer had the best reviews, expert advice and information. Trailer assembly went well with some minor problems. Good stuff first: The frame member fabrication was excellent: welds, holes, alignment, fit, perfect anodize and paint finishes, labels, mechanical parts, wheels, lights, exactly enough fasteners, good instructions. Fenders are 5/32" white plastic, hope the plastic has UV inhibitors as only the topsides are painted. Minor Problems: Black plastic lever lock: The tongue slides into the center frame tube, and when installed there is a pin and locking lever. That lever would not close, because the lock was not quite centered on the frame tube. The off center caused the lock shank to hit the right edge of the frame tube hole. Easy fix for this was to file the side of the aluminum frame tube hole enough for the lock shank to fit and lever close flat against tube. Only had to file the frame tube hole; tongue hole was ok. Photos of filed hole and closed lock, below. Black plastic lever lock key: One of three black plastic lever locks, the one for left wheel block, had a stubborn lockset. It locked ok, but then would not unlock. I finally realized the key had to be pushed down into the lockset keyhole very hard in order to unlock. Same problem for all 6 keys furnished with trailer. Glad I found the key insertion solution before trying to turn force-turn the key with pliers, which would have bent the key or broke the lock. Wiring problems: I expected with all the negative reviews of wiring, Yakima would have perfected their wiring. Nope, I had different problems than many past reviewers. The wiring problems were absolutely unnecessary / silly things that Yakima could easily have solved by simple quality control. Once together all lights worked good. First wiring problem was the right front, plug in plastic wiring connector had a warped female side. Looked like it was heat warped. Photo. I was able to squeeze the plastic back to the correct shape with a large crescent wrench and then plug in the male end. Now I hope the plastic doesn’t develop stress cracks. The three other similar connectors had perfect shape and plugged in nicely. Second wiring problem involved the four plastic mount brackets that hold the plastic wiring connectors in place, on the frame tubes. The four wiring connectors are made to slide into the four plastic mounts. All four mounts had two problems. First, all four mounts were installed backwards, making it impossible to insert the wiring connectors. Second, all four mounts were screwed onto their aluminum frame member with a button head screw. These button heads were too tall and would not allow the plugs to slide into their mounts. I replaced each button head screw with a countersunk flat head screw, and also reversed the mount’s direction. Luckily my flat head screw threads did not strip the aluminum tubes. Photos below shows mounts backward orientation and button head screws, and then show the corrected orientation with flat heads. Yakima, wake up, such a beautiful trailer should not have such silly problems!! Shipping: The trailer shipped by UPS, got here in 5 days with no damage to boxes. The title shipped separately by USPS, and got here in 6 days. Not knowing about separate shipping, after assembling the trailer, I spent an hour searching thru my cardboard box scrap pile for the title. Not there, now what?! I emailed, then called etrailer to find the title was shipped separately. Golly, it would be so easy for etrailer to tell buyers, up front, that the title ships separately. Buyers should not have to wonder “where’s the *# title!?”. All in all, etrailer and Yakima lived up to their reputation for excellence (trivial issues aside). I expect the trailer will perform well and last decades, like my old Yakima roof and receiver racks. I got a spare tire/wheel, and will probably also get a pair of spare spare axles. And will eventually buy the tongue kickstand, although a 5 gallon plastic bucket with 2x4 laid on top, makes a good tongue stand. The trailer tongue weight, unloaded, is 24#s; kickstand will probably make it 29#s. Photos below. Will send photo of my 17' Wenonah canoe later. 761830

The crossbars on the Rack and Roll trailer can be spread a maximum distance of 48 inches, and the distance from the center of the coupler to the center...

  • Recommended Trailer for Two Titan Propel 12 Kayaks
The best trailer we offer for your two Titan Propel 12 Kayaks is the Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer part # Y08107 paired with the Heavy Duty Shocks for Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer part # Y08110. The reason that I recommend the Rack and Roll is because of the fully independent, adjustable suspension which is going to provide a much better ride quality with less bounce when compared to the traditional leaf spring suspension system like on the Malone MegaSport Kayak Trailer. That said, if you...

  • How Long Do the Wheel Bearings Last in the Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer
Since we have started carrying the Yakima Rack and Roll trailer # Y08107 I have not heard any complaints regarding the wheel bearings failing and only a few instances where people wanted to replace the wheel assembly. If you need to replace your bearings you'll need to source them since Yakima doesn't carry any and we don't carry the proper size bearings that fit. Should a wheel ever need to be replaced it is # Y08121. The trailer has a 250 pound capacity but that can be increased...

  • Large Cargo Basket Recommendation for a Yakima Rack-n-Roll Trailer
The fenders of the Rack and Roll trailers like the part # Y08107 would interfere with a cargo basket from mounting directly to the channels of the trailer. For a large cargo basket that would fit the crossbars of the Rack and Roll trailers the Yakima MegaWarrior XL part # Y07080-82 would be your best option. This basket measures 74" long x 48" wide x 6-1/2" tall.

I checked the install instructions for the Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer part # Y08107 that you referenced and found the following torque figures: Wheel axle nuts (2) – torque to 57 ft. lbs. (77N-m) (a force of 57 lbs. on a 1 ft. lever.) Swingarm nuts (2) – torque to 31 ft. lbs (42N-m). Shock nuts (2) – torque to 31 ft. lbs (42N-m). Loadbar bracket nuts (8) – torque to 23 ft. lbs (31N-m). Spare tire mounting nut (1) – torque to 23 ft. lbs (31N-m). Cross-member to Side Rail bolts...

  • Height from Bottom of Coupler Lip of Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer to Ground When Trailer is Level
For the Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer part # Y08107 the height from the ground to the top of the inside of the coupler where the ball sits is 22 inches so then from the bottom of the coupler lip to the ground measures 20 inches when the trailer sits level. So if you are looking to pick out a ball mount to use with this trailer you'll want to measure from the ground to the top of the hitch opening and whatever the difference between that dimension is and 20 is the rise/drop you need.

  • Can Wheels on Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer Be Folded Flat
The Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer # Y08107 referenced in your question can be easily folded for storage in numerous positions, however the wheels themselves cannot fold flat. The wheels though can be easily removed along with folding the trailer to allow for really compact storage. Take a look at the attached image from the instructions manual that shows this position. This may even be the picture or setup that you were referring to, as it does appear that the wheels are folded flat...

  • Comparing Yakima Rack and Roll vs Malone Microsport XT for Carrying Two Kayaks
Both the Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer # Y08107 and Malone MicroSportXT Trailer # MPG460XT will work for you to carry your two Hobie kayaks, but I recommend the MicroSport XT because it is the better value of the two trailers. The biggest difference between the two trailers is that the Rack and Roll has independent suspension, while the MicroSportXT has a leaf spring suspension. This is going to give the Rack and Roll a bit of a better ride, but that alone doesn't make up for the gap...

  • Can Kayak Be Stored On Rack And Roll Trailer
You should have no problem storing your kayak on the racks of the Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer, part # Y08107. The tongue can be easily removed to provide more room when storing your trailer. The trailer can handle up to 250 lbs so any weight consideration should pose no issues when storing your kayak.. If a longer tongue is needed, I recommend a Tongue Extension Kit,part # Y08109. This attaches simply to your Rack and Roll trailer and extends the tongue an additional 3 ft. If you...

If includes bike and rack locks and comes with a limited lifetime warranty so you can be confident in your purchase. Attached is a review video that...

  • Recommended Ball Mount and Hitch Ball for Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer
The Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer # Y08107 referenced in your question requires a 2 inch hitch ball, such as the Curt # A-90. For optimum performance, Yakima states that the hitch ball should be installed 22 inches above the ground. You will want to choose the ball mount that will give you the proper rise or drop from your trailer hitch to reach this measurement. I recommend looking at the B&W Tow and Stow 2-Ball Mount # BWTS10037B. This ball mount will include the needed 2 inch hitch...

  • Can Thule Square Load Bars be Used on Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer, Part # Y08107
My contact at Yakima confirms that the Rack and Roll Trailer, part # Y08107, is compatible with Class I, II and III hitches and since late 2010 comes standard with a 2-inch coupler. Originally the trailer was supplied with a 1-7/8 coupler and a running production change was made to move to the 2-inch. Yakima will supply at no charge a bolt-on 2-inch coupler, part # Y08123, to customers that receive a 1-7/8 unit and need the larger size. However, recent production should have a 2-inch coupler. • Finding a Ball Mount with the Right Rise to Tow a Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer Level
When towing any trailer, you will want to tow it level. To do this all you need is a ball mount that offers the correct rise or drop (rise in your case). To determine the correct amount of rise you will need, park the SX-4 on level ground and measure from the ground up to the TOP of the receiver opening. If that measurement is the 12 inches you mentioned then you will need a ball mount with a 10 inch rise. I have included a link to an FAQ article that explains how to measure for the...

We do offer a few small trailers, for carrying mobility scooters/wheelchairs, motorcycles, kayaks, etc that might work for you. You can see them by clicking the provided link.

  • What is the Difference Between the 78 and 66 Inch Yakima Rack n Roll Trailers
The 78 inch Yakima Rack n Roll trailer # Y08107 is actually wider overall than its 66 inch counterpart, # Y08106. So it is not just the crossbars. Because the price difference between the 2 is minimal it would be more beneficial to just go with the 78 inch model. We actually have couple of other options. I have included a link to all of the roof rack on wheels that we carry.

  • Can Yakima Rack And Roll Trailer Carry A 16 Ft Canoe
I went to our warehouse and took some measurements of the Yakima Rack And Roll Trailer, part # Y08107. I have attached a photo of the trailer with the dimensions shown. From the center of the hitch ball coupler to the center of the front crossbar in its forward most position it measures 83 inches. The crossbars can be spread 48 inches. This would give you 1-1/2 inches of trailer behind the rear crossbar. That means 70 inches of your canoe will hang off the back of the trailer if you...

  • Metal License Plate Bracket for a Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer
The Yakima Rack and Roll trailer # Y08107 does come with a license plate light so you would not have to get a separate one. For a sturdy metal license plate bracket I recommend the CE Smith aluminum tread plate bracket # CE26053A. It will be more sturdy that plastic and also corrosion resistant since it is aluminum. There isn't a specific metal one that you would use so any alternate bracket is going to require a little custom installation. Self-tapping screws should do the trick.

  • Are Bow and Stern Tie Downs Required when Carrying Kayaks on a Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer
I think the images are coincidences. It is always a good idea to use bow and stern tie downs when transporting something long like a kayak or canoe. It is not necessary in all places but may be required by state or local laws in others. So better safe than sorry! The Yakima Rack and Roll trailers like # Y08107 are excellent for transporting multiple kayaks and it makes loading and loading easy since you won't have to put them on the roof of a vehicle. The trailer also has a higher capacity...

The specific size of the wrench used isn't called out in the instructions but it's either a 16 or 17 inch socket/wrench. Since you'll have to install the wheel and use the correct size wrench anyway you'd be best served writing down or remembering what size you need. Or you can bring a crescent wrench and you'll...

  • Trailer Jack Recommendations for a Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer
I think your best option would be to get a Fulton Snap-Ring Swivel Marine Jack # F1410050149. This should attach to your 2 inch by 2 inch trailer frame and provide you with a light weight jack for your Yakima Rack and Roll trailer. You should be careful not to exceed the weight capacity of your trailer, I am a little worried that you might be since you need a trailer jack on such a lightweight trailer.

  • Tie Down Strap Recommendation for Securing 2 Kayaks on Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer
If you use the Tongue Extension Kit # Y08109 along with your Rack and Roll Trailer # Y08107 then you will be able to transport your two 18-foot kayaks provided their combined weight does not exceed the trailer's limit of 250-lbs. If you need to add weight capacity to the trailer, use Yakima's heavy-duty shock kit # Y08110 which increases total load carrying to 350-lbs. The tongue extension does not include cargo tie-down points but a ratcheting strap like # EM34423 will help secure the...

  • Parts Needed to Mount Kayaks on the Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer # Y08107
On the Yakima Rack and Roll trailer, # Y08107, you will want to use a compatible kayak carrier unless you do not mind the kayaks sitting directly on the bars. I recommend a couple sets of foam blocks, # RL100K10, because they are cost effective and they come with bow and stern tie downs to secure the kayaks to the trailer. If your kayaks are longer than 17 feet, you will want to add the tongue extension, # Y08109, so the kayaks do not make contact with the tow vehicle. I have included...

  • Can 78" Crossbars be Used on the 66" Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer # Y08106
If you are already planning on needing more space than the 66" Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer # Y08106 can provide then I highly recommend going ahead and getting the 78" Rack and Roll # Y08107 instead. The 78" trailer is a whole foot wider than the 66" option so it can better handle the wider loads. If you were to add 78" crossbars to the 66" trailer the bars would stick out past the fenders and you are much more likely to tip the trailer that way. I reached out to my contact at Yakima...

  • Difference in Width Between the Yakima Rack and Roll Trailers, Frame Width and Overall Width
The frame width of the 66 version of the Rack and roll is 54 inches wide and the frame width of the 78 is 66 inches wide. The overall width of each of the Yakima Rack and Roll Trailers are the exact same width as the length of the crossbars on the trailer. The 66 inch # Y08106 is overall 66 inches long and the 78 part # Y08107 is overall 78 inches wide. What that means is that the frame of the 78 inch model is 8 inches wider than the frame of the 66 inch wide model.
