Question:
Hello. Im considering the Yakima Rack and Roll trailer 78 to transport two fishing kayaks the OT PDL 106 and 120. Id appreciate your advice about whether this trailer is sturdy and can handle the two heavy kayaks at the same time with the upgraded suspension. The 120 is heavier, of course, so I wonder about an imbalance. I like the trailer because its light and stores well in a small space, easier to move in and out of my backyard. But I wonder if it might be safer to go with a more heavy-duty trailer like the LowRider or a Malone. Long message, sorry. Thanks for your help. Dan

Hey Daniel,
The Yakima Rack And Roll 78", # Y08107, is a great option for hauling your 2 kayaks. I went ahead and looked up the dry weight of your kayaks and they came out to around 221lbs for the both of them. I recommend you go with the suspension upgrade kit, # Y08110, for that trailer especially if you have any accessories on your kayaks. For the imbalance, typically the heavier kayak is going to be put on the right side of the trailer to counteract the natural pull of the road to the left. Keeping that in mind and getting that upgraded suspension, this is going to be a durable and great safe option for you.
The Lowrider and Malone are good options as well, the ease of use and storage of the Yakima Rack and Roll is what puts it above those for me. It is also very lightweight at 160lbs when built, compared to some of the others out there that are 270lbs and up.
Let me know what you think about this setup!

Thanks for your message, Nick. Very helpful. I went ahead and purchased the Yakima Rack and Roll trailer from Etrailer, with the upgraded suspension, kick-stand, and spare tire. Looking forward to using it to get out on the water with my son!
