Will your Yakima Rack and Roll 2 inch coupler hitch work on the 2005 model?

Hey Gus! Yes, the Trailer Coupler for Yakima Rack and Roll Trailers - 2" Ball - Bolt On # Y08123 will fit your older Rack and Roll trailer 8008106. It is the same coupler for the old model and the current # Y08107. This does not come with hardware so you will need to use the existing hardware or pick up replacement hardware locally.

What do you usually use the trailer for?

I use the trailer to carry up to two kayaks. The original 17/8 coupler was shot. As a bonus the two inch coupler is over two inches longer.

@GusB let us know how it goes once you get it installed! If you run into any questions during the swap or need anything else for hauling your kayaks, don't hesitate to reach out.

It worked perfectly. No gap between the new coupler and the frame. I like the 2 inch better since my boat trailer uses same size. I need just one ball hitch.

My trailer is from 2003, before it was bought by yakima, I’ve replaced tires, coupler, and locks, all purchased through etrailer.com, I’m going to redo the lights next spring, one stopped working. Everything fits perfectly, and works as it should. They are great little trailers! enjoy!

In 2013 I bought a new wide heavy fishing kayak that was too heavy to get on a roof rack. I then bought a Yakima rock and roll trailer as I already had many Yakima parts from my bicycling days. It was probably 2014 that I bought the trailer kit and put it together in my basement during the winter. I don’t know the model trailer I have. A few years ago I had a mishap with the trailer, my fault, and I needed to replace the coupler so I went to the local bigbox store and bought a coupler. It didn’t fit my Yakima so I looked it up on etrailer.com where I bought the trailer and got a new one. No problem with it and use the trailer to haul my kayak to the lake where I fish. I have fit 2 kayaks on the trailer w/o any problem.
