Can a roof tent get utilized on a 78” Yakima with HD springs?

You can definitely use the Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer - 78" item # Y08107 with a roof rack tent. The crossbars on the trailer are adjustable from 4-48 inches wide in order to accommodate the clamps of a roof top tent.
For a great roof top tent, that will keep you well within the capacity of your trailer, I recommend the Thule Tepui Explorer Kukenam 3 Rooftop Tent item # TH8001KSK04.
