Question:

Looking for trailer for 10.5 foot kayak. The problem my garage only has space for 12 foot trailer including kayak. Do you have something that would work for my space requirements?

Hey Joe! Are you trying to store the trailer with the kayak mounted on it in your garage? The Malone EcoLight Sport Trailer # MAL73FR you were looking at won't fit with the bunks but the Malone EcoLight # MAL53FR without the bunk boards will.

The trailer itself is 10' 9" long and could work with a different carrier style like the SeaWing # MPG107MD or MegaWing # MPG207. However, it is likely it wouldn't fit with the kayak hanging off the back depending on how it is sitting on the carrier. You could probably make this work if you slid the kayak forward and added some additional support underneath it on your garage floor. You can also store the kayak to the side if that works better.

Another option would be to use the Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer # Y08107. You would not be able to fit this with the kayak sitting on it either but you could store the two separately. The Rack and Roll is only 6' long with the tongue removed and can be stored upright. Since it is 22" tall it would only take up that much space if you stored it at the front of the garage. This would leave room for your kayak to sit on the floor or some other kind of support in front of the trailer.

What kind of kayak do you have?

Would a Malone MicroSportXT with Retractable Tongue Extended work? I'm looking at getting the Old Town Sportsman 106 Powered by Minn Kota

@Joe good thinking, I always forget about that one. The # MPG460XT will also work since it is only 8-1/4' long with the tongue retracted. I like those Old Town kayaks, a lot of our customers have them and like them as well.

@RobinH So, the Malone MicroSportXT with Retractable Tongue Extended and the Old Town Sportsman 106 Powered by Minn Kota mounted on the trailer could be stored in the limited space?

@Joe again, not sure if it will with the kayak on it since it is going to hang off of the back end when normally mounted but at 8' 3" long the trailer will fit and then you can manage to get the kayak in there with it I'm sure.

I'm looking for a trailer that my Sea Eagle 12ft Fishing SUP would fit on. Would be very convenient if I could leave the SUP on the trailer when storing in my garage. Right now the FS1210 fits perfectly in my garage space.
