Reduce the frustration associated with troubleshooting trailer wiring problems with this lighted 5-way connector. It has built-in LED lights that help you determine quickly and easily if the issue is with your tow vehicle or your trailer. Just plug the connector into the 5-way flat on your vehicle. No need for separate testing tools. Then activate each function on your vehicle and a red light will come on if power for that function is being received by the connector. If there is power going into the connector for all of the functions, then you know that the problem is on the trailer end and you will need to check your trailer's wiring. Each function except for ground is represented by a separate light and the functions are labeled for easy identification.

A year later and this wiring harness is still impress. Not one single issue since I purchased this product. This product is very reliable especially when you hook up at 4am in the morning and you need your lights to get you to the lake. Great product!!

by:

Worked as advertised. Easy ordering, fast delivery.Very satisfied.

by:

I switched over my trailer wiring from a four way to a 5 way. This made the job super easy by just having to slice in the old wires to the new end. I used waterproof splices and it works awesome. What I love the most about this is the LED test lights. It makes both trouble shooting and checking the status very easy.

I have had this for about a year and I have had no issues whatsoever. Definitely recommend this harness.

by:

Added backup lights on a small trailer so needed a SAE 5 flat plug. Works well. Also fits to a normal 4 flat connector on cables of vehicles without the 5th connection The trailer side 5th pin just overhangs the side of the vehicle cable. However, this won’t plug into flat 4 vehicles where the recepacle is recessed, as the fifth conductor would hit the vehicle receptacle.

by:

Great Product, better than the factory plug that came on my boat trailer.

by:

Have not installed the connectors but they are what I ordered.
Thanks

by:

Provided a necessary fix after (I suspect) some neighborhood kids cut the wiring near the tongue of my boat trailer. I used heat shrink tubing to ensure a water tight connection.

by:

This 5-way plug works great.

by:

by:

Good product. Would be better if copper wire was tinned.

by:

The product is perfect, exactly what I needed and at a reasonable price. But it took two weeks from the time that I ordered it until it arrived.

by:

Reverse LED quit working after about four uses ( less than a month).

by:

Good deal

  • Replacement Actuator Recommendation for Atwood 85778
The best replacement option we offer for an Atwood Surge Brake Actuator 85778 is the Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator part # DM62VR. It has the same ball size, offers a bolt-on install, and has a greater capacity. The only functional difference is it has an electric lockout as opposed to a manual one which aren't really used anymore.

  • Replacing Aged Surge Brake Actuator With Electric Reverse Lockout Actuator on 1999 Boat Trailer
The Dexter DX7.5 Drop-N-Go Brake Actuator # 099-175-20 is a great choice for a replacement surge disc brake actuator. It sounds like your previous trailer brake actuator also had an electric lockout that was never connected or may have been removed. To connect your trailer properly and allow you to use the reverse electric lockout on the Dexter actuator you will need the Hopkins 5-Way Flat Trailer Connector # HM47913. It features a built in tester that will help you with wiring issues...

  • Replacement 5-Way Trailer End For a 2007 Ranger Boat Trailer With 5-Way Flat and 7 Wires
It sounds like your 5-way is going to have 2 ground and 2 running light wires which run down each side of the trailer. If you only need to replace the connector end I recommend using the Hopkins 5-Way Flat Trailer Connector # HM47913. This connector only has 5 wires but you will simply combine the duplicate wires from your trailer into the single wire on the connector end. The Heat Shrink Connectors # DW05744-5 will help make a weather tight connection.

  • Is there an Adapter for a 6-Way Square Jayco Trailer Connector
On the 6-Way square connectors # 37995 they are more of a generic type of 6-Way square. The one in your picture looks like the infamous Jayco 6-Way like what is found on adapter # 30104. But you need the opposite end from what is on this adapter. What you will need to do is remove the 6-Way connector you have and wire in something common in its place. Since you already have # 37995 you could use it, or at least the half that you need. Then wire the other end to the connector type that you need.

  • Replacing a 5-Way Trailer Connector that Has 10 Wires Ran to It
There is a very easy solution for you! It does not have 10 wires but is exactly what we use anytime we change these out. The Hopkins 5-Way Flat Trailer Connector w/ LED Test Lights part # HM47913 can be spliced directly to your current wiring color for color. Basically use the Deka Heat Shrink Butt Connector part # DW05745-5 and splice the two white wires to the single white on the plug. Do this for the 4 remaining colors and you are set. Use a heat gun or other heat source to shrink down...

  • Recommended Replacement Surge Brake Actuator For Atwood 85778 For Drum Brakes or Disc Brake Upgrade
You are correct that parts are no longer available for your Atwood 85778 brake actuator. I recommend the Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator w/ Manual Lockout # DM8760011 as a replacement if you wish to keep your drum brakes. A Demco Trailer Coupler # DM12688-95 will attach to the 3" channel on the actuator for a 2" ball connection. It really comes down to if you are happy with the performance of your current drum brakes. I like seeing disc brakes used in heavy duty applications, on boat...

  • Replacement 5-Way Connector for Ranger Boat Trailer
For a replacement 5-way we have the Hopkins 5-Way part # HM47913 which will work great. This even has circuit testers for each wire so that you can easily make sure everything is working properly. Wiring configuration on # HM47913: Green: right turn signal (RT), you'll run this to where the green wire was connected. Yellow: left turn signal (LT), to where yellow wire was connected. White: ground, to white wire connection. Brown: tail light and side marker lights (TM), to both the green/black...

  • Replacement Flexible Brake Line For a 1999 Four Winns Single Axle Boat Trailer With Removable Tongue
Typically these types of trailers will use a flexible line like the Kodiak # bh-3mfs-1-5 inside the removable or folding tongue. You will need to measure the length of hose needed as this line is 18" overall with 3/16" fittings. Please let me know if you need a longer or shorter length or have different fitting sizes as I have no way to know what Four Winns put on your trailer. The same goes for the wiring harness. I need to know if the wiring goes to a junction box or if they use push...

  • 5-Way Trailer Wiring Connector Replacement for Trailer Where 5-Way Fell Off
So the white wires are the ground wires most likely, the brown wires are the running light circuit most likely, the yellow is left turn/stop, the green is right turn/stop and the blue wire should be reverse lockout or brake output depending on your trailer's brake style. For a new 5-way you would want the part # HM47913 and you would wire it by color to your trailer's wires as they colors appear to be the same.

  • Installation of Electric Lockout Solenoid for Brake Actuating Coupler
For surge brake actuators, the solenoid like the Replacement Solenoid Valve for Titan Brake Actuators with Reverse Lockouts # T4748800 will allow you to bypass your brake actuator when backing up. The unit screws into the back of your master cylinder and then the brake line connects to the other end. You can then use the Tow Ready 4 Pole to 5 Pole Trailer Wiring Adapter # 20036 to connect your reverse light function to send signal to your trailer side 5-way when you shift your vehicle into reverse. • Replacement 5-Way Connector and Identifying Trailer Wire Functions
I recommend using a Hopkins 5-Way Flat Trailer Connector # HM47913 for the 5 wires you have on your trailer. This connector has LED test lights built in to confirm power coming from the vehicle to help troubleshoot any issues in the wiring after connected. Typically the yellow wire will be your left turn signal/brake and the green wire will be your right turn signal/brake but you can use a 12 volt battery to test your wiring to ensure that it was connected the same way. This connector has...

  • Why Isn't There Matching 5-Way with Circuit Tester to HM47913
The reason they only make trailer wiring tester connectors for the trailer side (that plugs into a vehicle) of the wiring like the part # HM47913 is because there is only voltage moving in one direction on a trailer. So having the testers on the trailer side wouldn't do much since there wouldn't be voltage on the trailer wiring without a vehicle present.

  • How To Install Reverse Lockout On Demco Actuator DM72VR
The Demco # DM72VR you installed is not designed to have any sort of manual lockout or bolt to hold it together, so I would not recommend doing that as you could potentially damage the coupler and render it unusable. The better option is installing a reverse lockout solenoid # DM11993 and installing a 5-way connector on the trailer with # HM47913. You'll wire one wire from the solenoid to the blue wire of the 5-way, and ground the other wire from the solenoid. You'll need to make sure...

Yes the wire from the Solenoid Valve # T4748800 on your Surge Brake will connect to the blue wire on the 5-Way Trailer Connector # HM47913. This wire is powered by the reverse lights on your vehicle to activate the solenoid and prevent the brakes from activating in reverse. Since you only have one wire the 2nd wire is likely already grounded to the surge brake body.

I do have a solution for you, however the female 4-Way to male 5-Way loop that you have is no longer available. Instead of using another adapter like this one your best option will be to actually cut off the 4-Way connector from the trailer and splice in a 5-Way like the Hopkins # HM47913 in its place. • Best Trailer Hitch for a 2018 Highland Ridge Open Range 5th Wheel Trailer
The trailer hitch I recommend you use on the back of your 2018 Highland Ridge Open Range Light LF291RLS to mount bikes or pull a trailer is the Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 13703. The Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver is the most popular trailer hitch we have for trailers because it fits so many different types and allows for the receiver tube to be placed in the best position to ensure you don't have any clearance issues with a bike rack for example. • Testing Trailer Brakes on 1973 Horse Trailer
If your trailer does indeed have electric brakes and you want them to actuate, you will need a brake controller to activate them when the vehicle brakes are applied. We offer a large selection of brake controllers, I would recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2, part # 90885. The P2 is a proportional controller, which means that when properly adjusted the trailer and the vehicle will brake in tandem which saves wear and tear on both the vehicle and trailer braking systems. To install the controller,...

  • Troubleshooting a Bike Rack for 5th Wheel That Has No Lights
Bruce, no you will not need a diode like the Roadmaster # RO54FR you were looking at. You'd only really need them if you were switching from incandescent to LEDs. If the lights are not working at all, then it's probably a wiring issue not a power supply issue, so I'd suggest checking your wiring first and making sure everything is wired correctly. It also wouldn't hurt to make sure that your grounds are good as well because that can also cause lights to not work.

In order to get the reverse lights to work on your trailer you will need a 5-way on your vehicle and also on your trailer. It sounds like you have wired the 4-way up but now you need the reverse lights. I recommend removing the 4-way connectors on both the towing vehicle and on your trailer and installing 5-way connectors. For the trailer side I recommend part # HM47913. You would attach the white, yellow(or light green), green, and brown wires to the same color on your trailer and then...
