Thanks...I want to know how to measure for shocks on my 1989 Terry travel trailer.

For the proper shocks, you simply measure the axle diameter. If you have a 3 inch axle diameter then you will use the Lippert Components Bolt-On Shock Kit w/ Heavy Duty Gas Shocks # LC281281. If you have a 2-3/8 inch diameter axle then you will use # LC281255. The connection to your axles is the difference in the kits. The shocks themselves are 13-1/2 inches fully extended and 8-5/8 inches compressed in both kits.

A super easy way to determine this is to measure the backside of your brake assemblies. If they are 10 inches wide then you have a 2-3/8 inch axle. If you have 12 inch wide brake assemblies, then you have a 3 inch diameter axle.

The shocks come with the brackets that attach on the top of the axle and then to your trailer frame. The brackets that attach to your frame require mounting, so the brackets actually will be attached in the location that best fits the shock dimensions I gave. I've attached the installation instructions to assist. If you determine you'd rather use a different shock absorbing system than gas shocks, then you can use a cushioned equalizer like # K71-652-00 instead. I've attached a video to assist.
