Hi everyone, Aiden here at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to these Laclede safety chains. Let's check 'em out. So in total, everything is going to be 48 inches long. They attach on our trailer just right up here to this bolt on the coupler. And then on the end, we've got our seven 16th as hooks.
That will just latch onto your safety chain, loops like this and make sure that in the case of an emergency, your trailer isn't going down the road on its own. It'll keep it attached right here. Now these are gonna be a quarter inch diameter chain with a 5,000 pound break strength. So for our small trailer that we've got these hooked up to right now, that's gonna be more than enough. And then getting these installed is super easy.
Obviously it's going to differ a bit depending on the trailer, you're putting it on, but we'll show you how we got them on this trailer. Now the first step of the installation is gonna actually be for us replacing the old chains. So we're gonna get these removed. Now ours aren't necessarily in bad shape, but we're just kind of doing this for demonstration purposes. And on our trailer we'll want to remove this front bolt on the coupler, because our safety chains are actually fed through that.
So as I pull this bolt out, you'll see them fall just like that. And then all we have to do is take our new chains. I'm gonna kind of hold them up and find where the middle roughly is. Right there looks pretty good. So this is the link I'm gonna feed that bolt back through.
So I'll just kind of pop it up into there, hold it in place and feed that bolt back through, nice and secure. And then just run this nut down on the other side and we're all done. Then we're free to hook up to our vehicle and hit the road. And that'll do it for a look at these Laclede safety chains. Thanks for watching..

There's not much I can say about safety chains other than they look strong enough to be safe. Thank God I haven't had a trailer break away from the truck but I am confident these chains would perform as well as any of the situation should arise.
A quality safety chain. I replaced the worn-out and rusted safety chains on my 16 foot utility trailer, and these chains greatly increased my peace of mind while towing. These are definitely worth the investment to ensure that your trailer doesn't become a projectile on the interstate should your hitch fail.

have not used these chains yet . I have them stored in my shop till I am ready to use them.
Product was exactly what I needed since I had added an extended ball mount to allow me to open my tailgate with the camper attached. Great quality chain, heavy hooks, more stout than the one on the pop-up.

Much heavier than the safety chain I replaced. Only problem was that hooks would not fit through trailer loop. It was an effort, and required my large vice and sledge to open the hook end enough to remove chain. I used the sledge to tighten it up again. Excellent product.
Heavier, and much stronger than the chain system I replaced. I would recommend this safety chain to anyone who values their trailer.
When I ordered my Reese hitch extension, I purchased two of the 48" safety chains. The price that I got from etrailer was so much less than what the retail big box home improvement stores charge. Good heavy chain and hooks. I will be installing on my feed trailer that didn't come with safety chains. Product arrived two days after ordering. Very satisfying with the product and etrailer.
I installed a swing tongue on my boat trailer. The instructions said that I needed to install safety chains behind the pivot point. I bought two of these chains, cut off ont hook off each and installed them with a 7/16" grade 8 bolt. Looks like they will work fine. The chains and hooks look like they are strong enough to do the job. Hopefully they will be rust resistant.
This tow chain hook up for my pop-up is just what i needed and the delivery was quick.

Great chain, holding up better than the originals.
Needed trailer chains , The chain does not fit the new bolts on the Atwood Actuator so I will purchase a different bolt. Overall exactly what I needed to get my trailer working again.

This is a great product, chain and hooks all in one. Didn't realize at the time is was such a heavy chain. My small trailer is only 500 Lbs and could of got by with a lot smaller of a chain. It's now 510 lbs haha but it worked great.
Nice safety chain. Just what I ordered. I would have preferred one with keepers on the hooks, but could not find one on the site.

I did order the wrong size channel width on the Coupler, so have reordered the correct size. I'll find someone who wants the larger Coupler, as it would cost too much to return it.
Safety chain is good and strong.
High Quality chains for safety use, used to retrofit trailers that did not have safety chains on them. We weld these on but they could be bolted.
Safety chains for my car hauler were too small. etrailer had a good price on heavy duty ones.
This is a fast, low cost way to add or replace safety chains. Beats piecing it together at a big box store!
