Question:
Hi, I just inquired about rims and tires. Now I would like to ask about a trailer hitch for this old single axle trailer I have. Rated capacity would be about 2000 pounds. The tongue and latch need to be replaced. I was thinking about cutting the old one off, drilling bolt holes and bolting a new one on. The neck is plenty long enough without the 8inch or so loss. It neck is 3inch across and 4inch down. What do you suggest? I dont weld, I would also need some chain to bolt to the neck, then to my van with a two inch ball and a place on each side to latch the chain. Thanks,

We have several 3 inch channel trailer couplers that could work for you (see link). For a 2,000 lb capacity coupler the Dutton Lainson part # DL13728 is a very popular option that would work well.
I would have a qualified weldor, weld a Safety Chain Loop, # E950, to the bottom of the trailer frame and then attach safety chains, like part # 2118-348-04, with Safety Chain Quick Links, # 2114-553-04.
