Hi there, safety-conscious haulers. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at Buyers 34 inch safety chain. This chain is offered in two different lengths, either 34 inches or 48 inches, and both are gonna have a 5,000 pound capacity. This chain's a great replacement chain for old, rusted and damaged chains. Our other one had broken, so we already replaced it. And we're gonna be replacing this one here just so we've got a nice matching set that we can be sure that we can rely on.
Over time, your chains can rust and the links can potentially open up after years of use, so you just wanna inspect your chains before using. If you see any damage on your chains, you wanna make sure you get those replaced because in the event of a catastrophic disconnect, this is what's gonna keep your trailer still with your vehicle and not just running off out of control. The old safety chains we we're using have a D link on one side on our trailer to attach, and on the other side, they have an S hook. The S hooks are nice cause they're quick and easy to attach to. And we've got plenty of different S hooks here at etrailer.
If you wanted to add S hooks to yours, you could. But the problem with the S hooks is that you can see here how easily it can just come off in here. So, if you're worried about security and you wanna make sure that they stay in place, you could use the quick links on both sides. And this chain does come with quick links attached on each side. So, you've already got that there.
So, you've got a way to attach it to your trailer. And there's no way that this is gonna come off of here. It's really secure, especially too, if you're worried about theft. Somebody could quickly just pull that off there and quickly unhook your trailer. Quick links are gonna take a lot more time to disconnect because you have to unscrew them.
So, they can be another added level of security to your trailer. And to ensure our chains last a long time, they are constructed out of steel with a corrosion-resistant coating on it. And that'll just help ensure that they don't rust and break down like our old chains do. It's gonna give us a lot more years of service out of these chains. When you attach your safety chains to your vehicle, one of the important things is to take the chain that's on the passenger side of your trailer and hook it to the driver's side on your vehicle, and then vice versa for your other chain. You can see here that they cross, and crossing your chains like this will act as a cradle in the event of a catastrophic disconnect. And that cradle's gonna hold your coupler up off the pavement so it doesn't dig down into it. One of the things I like about this chain is the versatility it offers. We've got just a bare chain here with two D links, so you're, really gives you a lot of options on choosing the length that you need for your trailer and giving you a variety of ways to quickly attach it nice and securely to the trailer as well. And that completes our look at Buyers safety chain..

And etrailer support and service are great!
Perfect for my application; towing a light trailer with a bumper hitch. This is sized perfectly to fit through the narrow cavities available in this application and allowed me to avoid an expensive modification. The narrow outside dimension across the link - the link width - is 3/4 of an inch
I made a minor error in ordering this safety chain; the chain is strong enough for the trailer I'm building, but the carabiner connectors are just a tiny bit too small to fit onto the trailer hitch I bought. I'll use the ones supplied for something else and replace them with a pair slightly larger.
Bought to extend my current chains.....the link makes it EASY!
Good price and fast shipping. Quality good too.

I have used this product on many occasions in the last year and have been very satisfied with it. It works perfectly for this application and was very reasonably priced compared to what I would have had to pay for an equivalent elsewhere.
