Video Transcript for Review of M-3 and Associates Enclosed Trailer Parts - Ramp Door Spring - M354FR

Jeff: Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a look at this conventional dual-spring ramp door spring for up to an eight foot wide enclosed trailer. Has 120 pound inaudible 00:00:12 spring capacity. Now this part will replace your old trailer door spring with this nice heavy-duty conventional ramp door spring. This ramp door spring will let you easily lift and lower the door on your enclosed trailer without the risk of injury, it'll help take on the weight of the trailer door so that you don't have to.

Now this one is a dual-spring design. The dual-springs will eliminate the risk of the ramp door collapsing and causing damage or injury. Basically, if one of the cable fails, the other spring will prevent the trailer door from free-falling. This spring will also reduce wear and help prevent damage to your door hinges. And this spring is designed to be mounted one way for proper operation. When you go to install this, you want to make sure the cable drums, these are the cable drums right here, these will need to be mounted.

They're marked this one over here will have an R on it for right-hand side. And then they spray paint it black also to indicate that. This one here will be stamped L for left-hand side. And they spray paint it red to indicate that. But basically when you go to mount this, the right side right here, this is what will mount onto the curbside of the trailer.

The left side is designed to mount on the road side of the trailer. Now this spring system can be modified to fit your specific application. Right now, I have the springs all the way out to the end for the largest. But you can slide the spring and the cable drum down and then cut the shaft to a shorter length to fit your application. The range on this, with it all the way out like this from this end to that end, is going to be 95 and five eighths inches wide. And then if we slide this all the way to the shortest or the narrowest trailer door...

I'll just loosen our cable drum there and we'll slide that with the bearing. So if we go all the way, from here to here, the minimum would be 54 and three quarter inches. And again, if you need that, then you could just cut off this shaft to a shorter length. So again, the application will be 54 and three quarter inches all the way to 95 and five eights inches wide trailer door. Now, it does include everything here on the table. It includes your mounting brackets with the hardware. It includes 150 inches of one eighth inch diameter cable and the hardware for the cable and the set screw covers. Now this is a nice sturdy steel construction. It is made in the USA. Again, the specs on this, if we put this all the way out, if we measure from this end to that end, it's going to be 95 and five eighths inches long, the diameter, the widest diameter will be the drum itself, is four and three quarter inches. Spring capacity is 120 pounds. And I do want to mention a warning when you do try to install a spring, it is recommended that only individuals who have experience winding these torsion springs should install this product because when you start winding this, it gets a lot of tension. It is dangerous. So if you've not worked with a torsion spring system before, we do recommend contacting a local garage door company to help you install this system. But that should do it for the review on this conventional dual-spring ramp door spring for up to an eight foot wide enclosed trailer. And it has 120 pound spring capacity.

The coil spring works great. I saw a ramp door online and copied it for my shed. I built the ramp door from the shed double opening doors and used most of the parts from etrailer.com The dual spring is used to assist opening and closing the ramp door. I calculated the weight and called etrailer.com and they helped me size the dual spring.

What a great company to work with! No problem with ordering,
and the shipping is super fast and free. A "Top Shelf " product.

Worked well, cut down the bar to fit our trailer needs and bolted right up. Right side pulley was bent, (Probably from Shipping). Working with them for a replacement. Just took the pulley off the old to get the trailer back on the road. Installed quickly with 2 guys and everything was as described when purchased.

by:

I ordered it and it was here in 3 days! Good quality, Nice price & Fast shipping! Nobody local would sell us one because we weren't using it for a ramp door! We used it to assist in lifting the 80lb. stairs on a truck. Works great, There won't be any back injuries now.

  • Ramp Spring Recommendation for 2022 Thor Toy Hauler
Are you wanting to do a torsion style spring that fits above the door like most toy haulers? Do you know how wide the door is and about how heavy the door is? Typically an 8 foot wide ramp spring like the part # M354FR is what you'd want as this matches the width of standard toy hauler doors and has a 120 lb lifting capacity.

  • Recommended Ramp Door Spring For 8 Wide Race Trailer With 200lb Door
I would be happy to help! Since the ramp door on your 8' wide race trailer weighs in roughly 200lbs I recommend the # 362SA8HD which works with ramp doors up to 230lbs so it will offer plenty of assistance to raise your door. Lastly we strongly recommend having the spring installed by a qualified professional as these springs are under a lot of tension and can be very dangerous to those not familiar to how they get installed. I included a video of the # 362SA8HD for you to take a look at.

  • Recommended Trailer Ramp Door Spring for 195 Lb Door
The spring capacity for the ramp door spring will need to meet or exceed the weight of the door. If you have a 195 lb door then the closest option we have that will be able to lift this is the Conventional Ramp Door Spring for 8' Wide Enclosed Trailer part # 362SA8HD which has a 230 lb weight capacity. It fits doors between 94-3/8" to 95-3/8" wide.

  • Enclosed Trailer Ramp Door Spring Assembly Needed For a 125LB Ramp Door
The 120-LB # M354FR is going to likely be a better option with the door weight between 125-130lbs. While the 150-LB # 362SA8207 will work the higher weight will make the door want to raise up off the ground which can be troublesome when trying to load something and the door starts to close itself. Both these kits can be narrowed down to the 88" width you are needing. Be sure to check out our etrailer Enclosed Trailer Transition Plate # e32JR as well. If you install this it will make the...

  • Car Hauler Ramp Spring Options to Help with Heavy Ramp
I don't know how wide your rear door is but we have an 8 foot wide rear door we have the 120 lb kit part # M354FR or for a 7 foot wide option we have the part # ERS120D81. These are for enclosed style trailers. If you have a open trailer with side rails you could instead use the Gorilla Lift part # GL1 to help with the ramp.

  • Ramp Spring For Rear Door of 2015 Forest River Vengeance 5th Wheel Toy Hauler
We do offer a ramp spring that would work for you. According to my research, your Forest River Vengeance Toy hauler is about 8-1/2 feet wide, which means that you'd need an 8 foot spring. The exact spring needed would depend on exactly how heavy the door is. We offer a 250 lb spring as part # CB250D96SHD, a 230 lb spring as part #362SA8HD, a 150 lb spring as part # 362SW81 or a 120 lb spring as part # M354FR. Ideally, you'd want to choose a spring with a capacity a bit less than the actual...
