Video Transcript for The Low-Down on the Conventional Ramp Door Spring for 7' Wide Enclosed Trailer

Today we're going to take a look at the conventional single spring ramp door spring for the seven foot wide enclosed trailers. This has 120 pound weight capacity. Now you can replace your old trailer door spring with this nice heavy duty conventional ramp door spring. Application for this is seven foot wide trailers. Now this ramp door spring lets you easily lift and lower the door on your enclosed trailer without the risk of injury because it'll help take on the weight of the trailer doors so that you don't have to. This spring will help reduce wear, helps prevent damage to the door hinges.

And if you notice on each end they have the cable drums that the cable goes around, those cable drums are marked, they have a right hand on this side and a left hand marking on this side. So when you do go to install this, the right hand drum should be on the curb side of the trailer and the left hand side should be on the road side or driver's side. This is a nice sturdy steel construction. It is made in the USA. It does include everything shown here, includes the galvanized cable with the quarter inch nylon eyes on each end, the brackets, and a nice set of detailed instructions. Now just a warning on the installation, it is recommended that only individuals who have experienced winding these torsion springs should install this product cause winding.

These Springs can be very dangerous if you're not familiar with the procedure, so if you've not worked with a torsion spring system before, we do recommend contacting your local garage door company to install this system. Also, I did want to mention that if you do have a smaller width trailer that's less than seven foot with a heavy door and you'd like to use this higher capacity spring for that application, this can be modified by cutting the shaft to a shorter length and then adjusting the bracket and the cable drum on the end to the smaller width that's needed. You can see there's two screws here that hold the cable drum in place. If they are loosened, this whole bracket and the drum will slide to whatever with you would need and then just cut off the remainder. So it can be adjusted. I'm just going to go ahead and put it back out to seven foot wide trailers because we're going to give you some dimensions here.

So basically when this is mounted in this position for seven foot trailers, overall width on it is going to be 77 inches wide. The depth on it, which will be measured from where this mounts to your trailer to the back here is going to be seven and a half inches deep. And the overall height on it is about 4 7/8 inches tall. And the spring capacity we did mention is 120 pounds. But that should do it for the review on the conventional single spring ramp door spring for the seven foot wide enclosed trailers..

  • Conventional Ramp Door Spring for 95 Pound Ramp Door
You want the Conventional Ramp Door Spring # 362SA7218 for your trailer with a 95 lb door. It is always best to go on the high side for the capacity so you know the spring can handle the weight of the door. With a 120 lb capacity you won't have the door shutting or lifting on its own, and it won't be difficult to operate. This would only become a potential problem if the capacity of the spring was significantly higher than the door weight.
