  • How to Correctly Position Ramp Door Spring for Installation
The spring with the black cable drum should always be mounted to your LEFT, standing on the inside of the trailer looking out. This is very important for proper operation. Dual spring systems, like # ERS160D96, have a red-coned and a black-coned spring so pay close attention to the colors. If the system is mounted upside down, the spring will grow in diameter when the system is wound. If the system is mounted properly, the springs should grow in length. You should be able to see the springs...

  • Do Ramp Door Springs with Two Springs Always Have More Capacity Than Single Springs
Hey David, I am not totally sure which two springs you are comparing but just because a dual spring torsion ramp door spring like the part # ERS160D96 has two springs doesn't always mean it has more capacity than a single spring. The springs can all be rated differently so it is possible a single spring is rated a lot higher than the two springs on a double setup. Does that make sense? It looks like you ordered the part # ERS160D96 which is a great option for 8 foot wide enclosed doors...

  • Recommended Replacement Spring for a Conventional Ramp Door Spring for an Enclosed Trailer
Jared, the Replacement Cables for Conventional Ramp Door Spring # M339FR is not going to work with the Conventional Ramp Door Spring for 8' Wide Enclosed Trailer # 362SA8207 but it does work with the Conventional Ramp Door Spring for 8' Wide Enclosed Trailer # ERS160D96 which is the same thing but has a higher weight capacity.

  • Is Length of Replacement Cables for Conventional Ramp Door Spring a Standard Length
The 150" length of the cables that come with # CAB1-8CB150 is specific to the Conventional Ramp Door Spring for 8' Wide Enclosed Trailer # ERS160D96. These are the same length as the cables that come with this door spring. 174" cables are also available for this door spring with part # M339FR.

  • Are the Bracket/pulleys Adjustable on the Conventional Ramp Door Springs part # 9500468
Yes they can. The Conventional Ramp Door Spring for 8' Wide Enclosed Trailer - Dual Spring part # ERS160D96 that you looked at is designed to accommodate a wide range of door openings. You can use the same attachment points your current door spring uses and have the added benefit of dual springs and cables. Any excess you may have on the cross tube can be cut to accommodate your trailer.

  • Weighing Door Ramp to Pick Out Ramp Door Spring
The way you weighed your ramp door is an accurate way to do so. Yours weighing 154 lbs would be an accurate figure to use when picking out a ramp. The part # ERS160D96 would work well for this as it has a capacity of 160 lbs which would work great with your ramp.

  • Recommended Ramp Door Spring Assist For A 8 Foot Trailer
When installing a spring assist on your 8.5 foot wide trailer I recommend The Conventional Ramp Door Spring for 8 foot Wide Enclosed Trailer - Dual Spring - 250-lb Capacity # CB250D96SHD. This will work for you 8-1/2 foot because of where the springs actually mount. This dual-spring setup lets you easily open and close the ramp door on your enclosed trailer and eliminates the risk of it freefalling. It will fit trailer doors between 80 inches to 96 inches wide. It has a sturdy steel construction...

  • Replacement Left Hand Drum for M-3 Dual Ramp Springs
We actually carry the replacement left hand drum # DRUM-M-3LH which is for M-3 Dual Ramp Springs # ERS120D81 and # ERS160D96. Since this can be a tricky installation we do recommend that only someone with experience (like a local garage door company) do the install. If you have a different spring that we don't carry then you'll want to reach out to that manufacturer for replacement parts as these aren't necessarily universal pieces.

  • Will The Rack'Em Double Barrel Utility Trailer Tailgate Lift Assist Work On A Horse Trailer
It really depends on the style of your trailer. If you have an open trailer with side rails that could attach the Rack'Em Double Barrel Utility Trailer Tailgate Lift Assist # RA-27C to then yes, you could use it. If you have an enclosed horse trailer then you would need to install an appropriately sized ramp door spring, like part # ERS160D96, to help lift and lower the ramp door.

  • Does Cable Come with Replacement Drum for M-3 Dual Ramp Springs
The Replacement Drum for M-3 Dual Ramp Springs - Left Hand # DRUM-M-3LH is just a replacement drum for the Conventional Ramp Door Spring Kits # ERS120D81 and # ERS160D96 so it doesn't come with a cable, but the cable itself is available as part # M339FR.
