Video Transcript for LumenX LED Trailer Tail Light Review

Ellen: Hey everyone. I'm Ellen, here at etrailer.com and we're taking a look at the Luminex LED Trailer Light. This is going to be for your stop and turn and tail light. So it gives you all three functions in one light housing. It is an LED light, so it's going to be a lot longer lasting than your typical incandescent bulb, requires no maintenance as well, since you don't have to change out any bulbs ever. And it should be a really nice rugged light for you, for just about any kind of application.

I have it already illuminated here. So this is going to be our tail light signal or our running light signal. If I hit the button on my little power box, that would be for our brake, or also our turn signal. You can take a little closer look at the light. You can see it already is in this housing to give it a little bit of a more finished look. And this has the Luminex optics, so it's going to make a more solid looking light.

Especially whenever it's completely illuminated, like if we're hitting the brakes or using our turn signal. I'll turn the light out in the studio, just a second, and back up a little bit so you guys can see that a little better. So that's just our running light signal. You can see how bright that is, so not terribly bright, but enough that other drivers would be able to see us whenever our lights are on in the dark or during a rainy day. And then, we hit the brakes it's going to be brighter still.

So it's going to give us our more full brightness for that light.I like the design of this. It looks pretty cool, in my opinion. It just looks interesting with that seven concentric circles going around. Turn the lights back on, and we can talk about the measurements and also about how this is actually wired up. So you can see I have this plug going to the back, pretty easy to use.

This is a plug that you can find here at etrailer.com. It is sold separately. It's going to be a related part on the product page. So you just wire up your signals to that. Red wire will be to your turn and brake signal. Black wire is your 12 volt power, or your running light power. And then the white wire is your ground. So pretty straight forward. Set that off to the side. And then as far as the diameter of the light, this is going to fit into a four and a half inch hole. So it needs a four and a half inch opening to fit in place. The light face is about four and a quarter inches in diameter. The overall diameter, or the outside dimension, is about five and a half inches. The depth for the light is about seven-eighths of an inch. If we include our wiring portion, it's about an inch and a half. So at the most, it's an inch and a half deep. Again, has a total of seven diodes there to give us that pattern on the light. The power draw at 12 volts for our stop and turn signal is 0.37 amps for the tail light signal. It's just 0.01 amps. So very low power draw. Shouldn't have to worry about it overloading a battery, or draining your battery too quickly. You can have a bunch of these and still be able to power it up pretty well. The operating voltage goes between nine and 16 volts. So it works with DC power. There is a limited lifetime warranty on this. It is DOT compliant. Made in the USA. Will have a red lens over white LEDs. So pretty nice looking light overall, in my opinion. One last measurement I want to give you, the mounting holes. The distance between those, center to center, is about four and a quarter inch going across. There's three mounting holes. It does not come with any hardware, so you will have to pick that up on your own. And the diameter on that is about a quarter of an inch. So anything a quarter of an inch or smaller should work okay. That's going to do it for our look at the Luminex LED Trailer Light. I hope this video has been helpful in deciding if this is the right light for you. And thanks for watching.

I replaced the entire running lights system and the LED lights are high quality and work great.
The running lights and backup lights are all amazingly bright!
I really appreciate that they help keep my trailer visible and safe!

by:

This is a review of etrailer as the product is 4*. The lights came loose in a box so all 4 lights lenses are scratched. When you spend 16-21$ a light you expect them to handle with care but they don’t.

by:

Great product. Did not listen to my salesperson Jesse. I do need the 2 prong adapters.

Replaced the Peterson Manufacturing PM421R single bulb type 6 1/2 inch trailer light perfectly!

by:

The installation was done without problem and the lights worked as expected.

by:

Two of the three lights I installed randomly turn themselves off. At times they also require multiple “touches” to operate, which can get frustrating.

by:

Purchased these in April, installed in May. Second trip I made with the trailer in July, the lens fell off one light. No damage, it just fell off.
Neither E-trailer, nor Peterson will warranty the light.
I think it's the last time I spend money with either of them.

by:

The lights look ok, but I haven't gotten them installed yet. My main complaint is the packaging, because everything I ordered was thrown loose into one box. You need to do better to ensure nothing is damaged during shipping.

by:

Exactly what you'd expect. Seems to be a good quality grommet-mount LED light. I used it for a mid-ship marker on a gooseneck.

by:

Good product, nice bright led's
Should
last a long time. Great customer service and good website description of product. Etrailer has always been a great company to deal with. Keep up the good work.

by:

Very nice looking lights. Disappointed in that I did not watch the video to see that a harness is needed to wire the lights. I will get them with next order though.

by:

Bought 4 tail lights only 1 worked right out of the box - had to work with the other 3 to get them to work

by:

Easy instillation and very bright. But you must be very thorough that you have the right sized grommet for the hole in the bed or trailer AND for the light you are using. Not all grommets are the same as with trailers and flat beds so make sure that you double check the hole size both ways of the bed and the light to minimize head aches when you go to install.

by:

I used these to replace the tail lights on my utility trailer. They are bright and because they are LED they will not require any attention. I look forward to many years of reliable service.

by:

The light is very bright and is good quality I love it

by:

Exactly what we were looking for. I do think the description needs to be more clear as I ordered an extra wire that actual came with the light. Other than that received the product earlier than expected and we were able to finish the job for the customer sooner.

by:

Great light but would need to manually turn them on each time you kill the main switch in the horse trailer. Will reorder the same light but without the touch switch in the middle of the lens. Bad on me for being a poor electrician.

by:

I was worried that the backup lights would not be bright enough, but they’re surprisingly bright for only one segment of the light.

by:

perfect timing on the ETA of parts Thanks alot
