Ellen: Hey, everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. And today we're going to take a look at the Lumenex LED trailer backup light. This helps you to see where you're going in the dark whenever you're backing up with your trailer. So you're going to extend that light out to the back of your trailer rather than just having the backup lights from your towing vehicle. So you get a little bit more illumination there.
Helps you see where you're going. The thing that I really like about this light is that it is LED. It's going to be a nice bright, nice looking light. So the advantage with LED is that there's really no maintenance required with incandescent bulbs. You typically have to replace those bulbs out at some point, because they go bad.
This we don't really have to worry about that. It should be a long lasting light and have less power draw as well as compared to our incandescent light. So can you have more of these without running down your battery as quickly, or taking as much from your towing vehicle depending on your setup. But as far as how to wire this up, you will need a plug. It does not come with it. So you will have to pick one up from us here at etrailer.com.
This one isn't quite the right one, but it's the one I have here in the studio. So you really just need a two wire plug. There's just two wires to connect with this, since all it does is turn on and off. But it should plug in just like that. And then voila, nice bright light.
So it's pretty easy to install it. You will need a four and a half inch hole for that to fit into. Again, nice bright light there. And turn the light out in the studios so you can get a better idea of what that looks like in the dark.So especially if you have two of these, it should be enough to illuminate that area behind you. Just pulling it away from the table so you can see what it looks like further out. I like this kind of concentric circle design. It looks pretty cool. Almost like a snowflake, or kind of ripples in a pond. So it just looks cool. I like it.As far as other measurements with this . Unplug it from our wiring and we can go over those. The outer diameter going from the outer edge of this flange is five and a half inches. You can see that there from edge to edge, five and a half. The light itself is about four and a quarter inch in diameter. And then again the opening or the cutout that you'll need is four and a half inches. The thickness going from the surface of the light to the back of where that wiring will plug in is about three . Or excuse me, one and three eights. There's a total of seven diodes. The power draw at 12 volts is going to be 0.23 amps. So a pretty low power draw as I mentioned before. This is made in the USA, DOT compliant. That plug at the back is an AMP style plug for your weather tight connection.Again, you can find those here at etrailer.com. It's compatible with 12 volt DC systems. The lens is a clear lens, polycarbonate. So it should be pretty durable. Same for the housing. And that design also ensures that it has a consistent light output, and also prevents it from any kind of overheating. So it should be a nice little light for a long time. You really shouldn't have to worry about replacing this unless something happens to the housing overall, it gets cracked or bumped, or something like that. Cracked or damaged, or something like that. It does have a limited lifetime warranty. And that pretty much does it for our look at the Lumenex LED trailer backup light. I hope this video has been helpful in deciding if this is going to be the right light for you. If not, we do have a lot of other options available here at etrailer.com. So please check them out. Thanks for watching.
We were struggling to find reverse lights for our '74 Holiday Ramblette that we were redoing at the time. Easy to find stop and running lights, but not so much for the clear reverse lights. These worked great and matched the size and style of the red ones that we purchased. We used wiring also purchased from this site listed in the description which was easy to set up and understand. Haven't had any problems yet and be careful if you test them in the dark for the first time... lets just say I saw a white light everywhere I looked for a while afterwords (so bright!)
Worked out fine.
Great product. Did not listen to my salesperson Jesse. I do need the 2 prong adapters.
Very nice looking lights. Disappointed in that I did not watch the video to see that a harness is needed to wire the lights. I will get them with next order though.
Easy installation. Working perfectly after 1year
